Thank you notes for LOEs

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I apologize in advance for waffling on about something (relatively) insignificant-

For professors who have written and submitted LOEs on my behalf- How should I thank them? I feel like emails are a bit impersonal but written correspondence can get tricky finding the correct address to reach them. Also, is it enough just to extend our thanks? Should we also include a token of our gratitude- I was thinking a Starbucks e gift card maybe? And generally what should we say beyond thanks for writing the letter.

Thanks

I never gave gift cards, but I did always write a thank you card - not just for writing the letter, but for making a difference in my life and helping me reach my goals, and whatnot.

I write a thank you note (card) and get a small gift bag of artisan chocolates or something similarly cute! My writers have been important to my success, mentors, and on some level, friends. Writing a thank you card means a lot to me to be able to highlight all the ways they have helped me grow and I have received overwhelming gratitude from them for taking the time to do so.

What you write depends on what relationship is with your writer. If it's impersonal and strictly in class or something, more of a straight to it thank you for their time, guidance, and effort is sufficient.
