How appropriate is it to send your professor a thank you email for going out of his way and being super helpful is approrpriate? and saying i would not have done so wel in the course without his help..is this appropriate?
oh and of course wishing him merry xmas.
thanks you

I never have but I don't see anything wrong with this. The professor probably would appreciate it.

I've never officially written a thank you e-mail, but I have verbally let a teacher/professor know how influential they've been in my life and/or career path, if applicable. I have had some phenomenal professors that went above and beyond, and who truly helped mold me into who I am today. So yes, I made it a point to let them know my gratitude for all they've done. I think anyone who's had a great teacher should, in some way, let their appreciation of that person's hard work be known!

I've actually done this before for two of my professors. They were amazing professors. Taught me well. I made A's in their classes. I sent them an email telling them how much I appreciated them being good teaches. Nothing wrong with it.

I've done this several times. I also included in my emails any helpful feedback about the class, like their MC exams were fair yet challenging or how I really enjoyed that one section and I wish we could have spent more time on it. They'll really appreciate any kind words you have about them or their classes.
