Hi All, hope your cycle is going great. I am a non-trad, very low-GPA ok-MCAT ok-SMP ok-EC applicant that was mostly completed in mid-August to early September. It's the first cycle for me, and I applied wide, but no II yet. I heard about the thanksgiving rule, and I am getting worried, so I started to wonder how update letters work and if my additional experience is worth writing an update. I started to work as a clinical research coordinator at a large multi-state private practice. So far, I have been assigned as primary CRC on two phase-3 drug studies, and I am really enjoying and learning a lot. I did mention I planned to work as CRC in secondaries if they ask for my gap year plan, so I am following through with my plans. If a school welcomes updates, is it worth sending a pre-II ~1.5k-2k character (like secondary answers) essay writing about this experience and what I learned and expressing my interest again? Is there a general guideline or rule on these letters? Thanks for any advice in advance and happy holidays!

You've got nothing to lose but it may come to naught. Be thinking about what you will do to improve your application for another cycle in 2023 or 2024.

Sorry, I meant residency as in Green Card. I noticed in an earlier post of your that you are/were an international students, which would impact your odds significantly.

Oh sorry I misunderstood. Luckily I had my green card approved in June just in time, which is also why I’m a little late and only marked complete by most schools at end of Aug.

Agree with my learned colleague above, an update isn't likely to hurt at this point, but it's also not likely to help. Best to focus on the things you an potentially change for a future application cycle: MCAT and ECs.
