Welcome, all January 26, 2008, MCATers!!!!

This is your official place to stress, vent, hang out, party, cry, yell, or whatever else you need to do in the week before and just after your MCAT.

As a reminder, when your test is done, you are welcome to come here and discuss your experience with it. Discussing general passage topics is OK- ie, "I had PS passages on circuits, thermodynamics, and optics." However, you are NOT allowed post specific questions or answer choices from your test. Any posts which contain specific information will be deleted, and a 2-week post hold will be placed on your account. Look here for more information on this.

Everybody who has posted above is right! Scores are up! PS:14, VR:11, BS:15 W: Q == 40Q. Am I in a dream? Good luck to everybody else out there!

32Q (11V, 11BS, 10PS) - not quite as good as I'd hoped, but it might just be good enough! That was one strange MCAT, the PS score was consistently my highest on all of the practice exams, and I have a MS in engineering, so I defnitely wasn't expecting PS to be my low score.

I have an MS in biological sciences and only got an 11 in BS.. that's very, very strange.

Tonight when I get home I will write a nice long description of everything I did... I'm at work so I can't now, but will do later!!!

It still feels kind of unreal... I really wasn't expecting a 38... my highest practice was 36 and my average was 33!!! I'm really, really happy... I for the first time in my life feel like I'm going to become a doctor... Congrats to everyone, these scores so far are great!!

I don't think it makes me any less of a man to admit that I did cry a little when I saw my score 🙂

Congrats you guys!! All those who've posted so far have scored well over 30. Isn't this the administration that everyone was so upset about right afterwards? Do you guys think you were underestimating your performance or was the curve incredibly generous? To the person who went from a 27 to a 35, how did you do it? Congratulations once again!

This is that administration... I think it is a combination of both for me... It was a hard test so you think you did worse than you did... And because it was hard there was probably a good curve... Thats what I think, but other people can chime in...

Holy crap I'm surprised! 31P (10 VR, 11 PS, 10 BS)

I only studied the month before and with just reviewing EK books (no courses, I don't believe them).

Congrats to those of you who did well.

Myself, I blew BS and landed a 24S. Even with a 3.92 overall, I think that's solid retake material.

Just be careful retaking a 33! That is a great score... 90% is nothing to shake a stick at! (even with a 3.3)

I guess the AAMCs and Kaplan "can" be good predictors

Thanks man.. I will definitely make a very thoughtful post on how I did it... I really, really appreciated the advice on these forums... without you guys, I wouldn't have done it

I'm going to make a really long thread with how I did it... considering I never considered myself one of the "smart" people.. I'm more of the hardworking type... and it can be done!

I thing I will say now is BERKELEY REVIEW ROCKS

and vihsadas if you're reading this... your advice really helped... you probably don't remember giving any advice 😛 .... I really internalized your advice... about trying to figure out patterns on the AAMCs.. helped bigtime.. I'll make a post about this later

Congratulations bozz! yea! my score fell well within the range of my practice exams. The AAMC predicted better than the kaplan =)

wow i feel so dumb compared to all of u. i got a 36 P (14 BS, 12 PS, and 10 Verbal) I am glad about verbal cuz i was expecting a 5 on it. However i thought i got at least a 13 on PS. wish i had broken the 40 mark. maybe i should have studied more. i only studied 2 months. well congrats to all of u who did break 40. im gonna go sulk all night long.

Yeah dude... I was freaking out... remember when we were discussing stuff, I realized I got 4 questions wrong on PS

Guys, 4 questions wrong on PS can be a 14!

which makes it that much more disappointing for the rest of us. I really felt like I got maybe 1-2 biology questions wrong, but probably 4-5 of the organic chem questions wrong and expected a 13+.. how many did I have to bomb to get that 11 in BS?

sorry .. didn't mean for it to come out that way.. I just wanted people to have hope... since I always wondered how the curve worked... I started like countless threads on the topic

BS, its possible you might have had an easier version of the test.. I had the one with the western blot passage.. and I thought it was extremely hard, despite taking genetics

I actually took it on the 25th, so my score is there.

Aug 07 : 9 10 10 29R
Jan 08 : 8 9 11 28R

Devastated is putting it lightly. I'm done with this f*cking test.

Congrats to everyone getting back scores they are happy with.

I am shocked that I got a 12 on Bio... I thought it was really hard and I had three o-chem passages! Western blot was really hard! I guess we did okay though... I only know of one PS I got wrong for sure so I'm curious how many I did get wrong... Wish we could see the curve.

34M vr-9 ps-13 bs-12

Very happy despite the M and the 9. Got a 21 on the ACT (I just laughed out loud when I typed that). I have no desire to go to a top med school because I won't fit in. I am 2-4 points above any schools average that I am applying to. So relieved. Contrats to everyone who as happy, and don't be destroyed if you need to retake, just $&*%ing do it.

I got a 35R.
11 VR??? I thought I would get an 8
11 PS??? I thought I would get a 13-14 (but who am I to complain)
13 BS--- I like WB's.
R WS. I felt one of my essays was awesome, but the other one was a bit mediocre.

Same situation here. Except I have 13 for BS and 12 for PS. Is the 9VR and M on writing going hurt me on my chances on getting into a MD PhD program?

I'm not a native English speaker by the way.

Can i still burn my books?

Congratulations to all of you on your great scores!! :hardy: I'm so happy for you that scores were released early- what a nice present!

If anyone is uncertain about applying with their score, I bumped and stickied the "Official Should I Retake? Thread"- http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=412739 . QofQuimica has some good guidelines about retaking on the first page.
