I agree 100% that assertiveness is a virtue. I'd just like to modify that to say "... when necessary," or "when it's best for the patient." For instance, "being assertive" about how you want the tube taped is just being a prick. As you can tell if you read any of the clinical threads, there are a thousand ways to skin a cat, most of which will have similar outcomes.

There are definitely areas/times where it is (more or less) accepted that a particular way is better, the rest of the time, does it really matter? Is it worth a coronary because you like American on your burger and I like pepper jack?
