Howdy folks,
Has anyone out there done this analytical chemistry lab? Its HORRENDOUS! I'm doing it now and its very detailed and accuracy oriented, however I feel relieved knowing that after this semester, I'll have nothing to worry about as far as grades go. I called up Nova today and their admissions director Sue-Annn Zarret I believe was really helpful in scheduling an appointment, I get to meet with her and do the tour thing...Nova is high on my list. However, I've determined my top school to be Columbia, how realistic is this with my stats which I'll post below:

Degree: BS Biochemistry (completed in Spring 2006)...I'm a junior
GPA: 3.9
DAT: Haven't taken it yet, doing Kaplan right now and hardly have anytime for it at all.

Volunteer experience: Shadow at UF College of Dentistry once a week, for two semesters, and shadow a private practice dentist once a week, also will be doing research this summer in dentistry
LORs: I have two solid LORs from science professors, and am in the mix for asking the dentist for one...

Is this enouhg for an interview there?

Thanks!

Columbia is a BIG DAT school. So kick a-- on the DAT and you will be fine.

You have a solid gpa, I can tell that you are going to kick the DAT down the block, and your extracurriculars are stellar dexadental. In my opinion you will have no problems getting your foot in the door at any school that you apply to including Columbia. Now, what can I do to persuade you into considering Penn? 😀

Do NOT go to Nova. All the dentists I have talked to have said that they were having trouble getting accredited and their graduates are not that good. someone with grades like yours can go almost anywhere u want. U will get into columbia, Upenn, UCSF UoP, wherever you want as long as you do good on the DATs, and are not socially challenged. Good luck with everything.
