You and I both know its not just this thread.. Things you have said about retail pharmacy in the past... "pathetic career choice"... Ring a bell? I think your just a miserable person who wants everyone who actually sees the world in a beautiful light, to be as miserable as yourself.
Or maybe I'm just being honest and I'm angry at the corporate pharmacies for destroying the profession and making retail pharmacy a shadow of what it could be.
I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with you because honestly I have nothing to prove or gain from it.
Yet here you are....
Do you realize that by saying the "brutally honest" things that you do, and when I say brutal I mean insulting really, that your failing yourself as a professional?
Ok....that's it...you're just a troll. You can't be serious.
That is to say when you take the Oath of a Pharmacist you are generally held to a higher standard than most people on this forum (students). Obviously, the things you say here have no bearing on if your a great pharmacist or not but it does shed some insight on your character, which I think is seriously questionable.
Oh my god. What planet do you live on? Because I think a movie isn't as great as others think...and you decided to be overly sensitive about it...I'm now instantly of questionable character? Come on...
I could make this post last forever but in the end your a pharmacist - try setting a good example for once and take your head out of your A $ $.
Ok...so let's skip to the chase about your pretentious rambling on how I'm not a "professional."
Your grand "problem" is that I think retail pharmacy is a pathetic career choice. Which I do. Of course you choose to leave out the context of why I said such a thing, but that's fine.
I could see just cause for being upset if I was just saying it to be saying it, but I have just reason to think what I think. This is getting to the context of the statement. Retail pharmacy has potential to be a great practice area. However, the capitalism-first backbone behind it has destroyed it. Period. You are not a practitioner anymore once you sign on with the CVSs or Rite Aids of the world. You are a number. You are a source of income for stockholders. You are encouraged to do clinical things only because you are legally obligated to.
Retail pharmacy is a cesspool of bull****. And it's people like *me*, Zyvox, Priapism, and others that passionately speak out against it that are the true professionals. We *actually* CARE about people, believe it or not. We are disappointed that patients aren't getting optimal care and that pharmacists aren't being used to their fullest potential. Again - the retail system is not geared towards patient care at all. It's geared towards maximizing profits. I want retail pharmacy to live up to its possibilities. Medication management, pharmacotherapy, etc. Sure, you can sit back and poopoo around with your head in the sand and think about how much of a difference you might make once a week down at CVS, but the bottom line is that in retail your potential is INTRINSICALLY inhibited. Retail pharmacists should be counseling each patient every time. They should have greater roles in drug selection. They should be more involved with disease management. But for some reason the majority do not care. They just want to keep things they way they are. 2nd class professionals that just show up, count, talk to a few patients, get paid six figs, go home. And, thus, it has fallen into what it has become. Don't get me wrong, there are many independent pharmacists that have wonderful practices....but they are few and far between.
So do I think that it's a pathetic career choice? Damn straight I do. Unless of course you are an individual that is actually taking it upon themselves to better the profession...but that's like 1/10000 retail pharmacists....and if you are that person...you know I'm not talking about you, anyway.
And because I feel so passionate about how pathetic the entire profession of retail pharmacy has become, I'm not a "professional." Odd...being that that I've heard MUCH worse about retail pharmacy come out of advanced clinical pharmacists that are bloody professors at pharmacy schools. Hell, if you think *my* opinion is bad, why don't you ask Priapism his opinion of retail pharmacy. You'll think I am a writer for Community Pharmacy Monthly.
So how about this kiddo...before you write people off that think retail pharmacy is crap as incompassionate lowlifes...and before you use the ridiculous segway of a person's opinion of a movie that said person used to jostle his pals a bit with....just step back, take a deep breath. You don't personally know me and others on here know me waaaaay better than you. Do you see them getting all upset? No, because they know me and they all know I love 'em.
Your passive-aggressive holier than thou act has worn thin and grown old. If you disagree with my opinion on retail pharmacy, formulate an argument against it and then we can talk. Until then, chill, playa.
