It's crazy to me how so many people can ride the bandwagon and recognize the posts of so many people who say "I got in" and then continue to put up "yeah "

and all that type of crap. If you KNEW these people, then maybe I can understand it, or you have some idea of their perseverance. But clearly this is not the case. Don't encourage the "I got in" post because --- most of the time I just think to myself "blow it out your arse" --- not so much in jealously as in disgust. If I don't know you or that you are a quality person, why should I be happy that you are becoming a doctor!?

That is my cynicism for the day. The funnier thing about it is that if I get in, I'll probably do the same thing, but in a covert, trickster-like way just to piss people off and get a laugh of being such a hypocrite. I can see it already. Hahaha!

Good luck to all, but quit those BS posts, please.

Not only b/c the "I got in!" posts are a chance for me to use my favorite similie , but b/c I do like to think of SDN as being a supportive community. If the "I got in!" posts bother you, then don't read them and don't post a congratulatory message. It's not like they're hard to spot...😉 😀

oh and btw - I don't agree - If I have exchanged PMs or read a lot about someone I like to hear about them getting in and either you buy into SDN is a community or not (and if not...I'm not sure why one would hang out here, but thats just me). Ok, if someone posts they got in as like their 1st, 2nd or 3rd post I don't normally respond - but if you recognize the name I think theres no harm in putting some positive energy out there

if they have been a positive contributor to sdn, i'm happy for them when they get in! nothing wrong with showing a little support.

I haven't had much time to post lately, but if I did, I would be congratulating everybody that posted their "I Got In" thread. It doesn't matter about the person's character or quality of doc they will make....I am just congratulating them for having worked hard and persevering throughout this process and getting in. This whole application process itself is so hard that it builds character and takes a LOT out of us; so why not congratulate anybody to have made it out successfully?

Part of what makes SDN a great community is sharing other's joys and sorrows. I have yet to see sombody say, "ya man, I hate those SOB stories about how XYZ didn't get in after applying the THIRD time....man those stories get annoying!" The reason we don't do that here is because to a certain extent, we all want to be cooperative and encouraging. So if we are already sharing in others' sorrows of not getting in, why not add a bit of zest to our lives by living vicariously through other people's acceptances? 🙂 🙂

I think its nice that people post the i got in threads because I felt the same way too...in the beginning i was jealous but you know you spend pretty much all your time on SDN and though you may not know a lot of the people on SDN on a personal level...you feel in a way connected to them. I literally spend all my time here and have somehow replaced a lot of my "free time" hanging out with friend...hanging out with my SDN cronies...i know its getting bad but hey...

sometimes SDN is the only thing that keeps me sane when my email mailbox is full of "enlarge your penis" or "size does matter" or "get your Professional degree in 2 days!!!"

I don't mind those threads from SDN regulars b/c I'm genuinly interested in some of the stories i see here. However, I do find it annoying when someone with 2 or 3 posts does it. When I see those I usually think, man--that guy/gal had no friends to tell the news to, so he joined a forum just to get some props.
