HI, My school follows the integrated pathway (that is organ system-based education) in my preclinical years.
What is the advantages and disadvantages of this system in comparison to the subject-based system.

Note:I think the integrated pathway is better, but many of our Profs don't think so.
What do you think?

Professors just don't like to change the way they've done things for years. Most schools are moving towards organ-based curricula and the faculty have the same complaints at every school. In 20 years or so when there's a new fangled curriculum that everyone likes the professors will all laud the organ-based approach and talk about how approach X is a horrible idea.

Personally I think it's a great way to cover the material. Obviously there's classes you don't want to do organ systems based (micro for example) but most stuff is easier to learn that way.
