The Law wins - suck it Pacira

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
They get essentially 100% of their profit from the sale of that garbage so it’s not surprising her that they were unhappy to find their cash cow is essentially useless. Though to be honest I think their own data, that I recall from 10 years ago, showed that it was essentially useless.

Some of our surgeons think that it anecdotally works better for intercostal blocks vs plain bupi. Physiologically, that kind of makes sense if the liposome prevent rapid absorption into the bloodstream, and also explains why the difference is less in areas where there is lower uptake.

This is a very important court defeat for big pharma and a big win for ... science. If they were able to silence journals, all scientific talk would cease for threat of lawsuit and monetary damages. Thank god.
I agree. Huge win. Screw Pacira.

I was a pretty strong supporter of them and their product until they sued. I even have a paper with their product showing benefit (retrospective).

They do have one advantage I will say (though not worth the cost).

The block wears off in a much more gradual fashion than with normal local. That can be a big deal actually (at 3am).

Their are a lot of things I don’t understand in this world. One of them is why they picked bupivicaine - the most poisonous and dangerous local. Weirdos…I mean if their product really worked, it would work with 2-chloroprocaine and they could make it last 5 days. (The scientist from their company said they could formulate the liposome to last as long as they wanted)

Because bupivacaine is cheap?
