I'd go with "grievous." Classic, simple, used by Marcus Aurelius (well...he spoke Greek...but the TRANSLATIONS say he used it!)

If you want to keep with the whole "pretentiously use words that I'm pretty sure kinda mean the same thing, but, unbeknown to me...don't really" theme, "insidious" might work, too. It would also be equally as weird to use...

Sorry if it's been said before, but I believe you meant that Marcus Aurelius spoke Latin... He might have spoken Greek, too, but I'm pretty sure being in ancient Rome, his predominant language was Latin. ;-)

See what happens when you give a hill billy access to the internet...They think they are smart....poor kid.

Yeah, you're right...I was thinking of Socrates/Plato for some damn reason...god damn internet...

Hey man, you leave my guns alone!!!!! If everyone was armed there would be a whole lot less senseless killing.
I disagree with you, but I won't go there. Plus, that wasn't why I posted. I was pointing out the hypocrisy in siccing the authorities on Craigslist because someone used it to commit ONE murder, whereas in recent times people have used guns to commit MULTIPLE murders. If the govt. is going to go after the one, it has no basis in sparing the other.

Since we're off topic, could anyone tell me what it's like to live in Houston? I may have to decide whether or not I want to move there pretty soon.

Houston sucks! Texas sucks, but Houston sucks worse!

It's a whole lot of sprawl...

You gosh darn liberals!!! You will never take my guns!!!! NRA forever!!!!

As crappy as it is to live any where in Texass, only hotter with more people.
So why do you dislike TexASS? What do you hate about the place? I'm not kidding...I may be faced with a decision whether to move there or not in the middle of next month.

Glycerin, you just made me happy, and you have excellent taste. Do you have a favorite?

So my dad lived in Houston when I was a kid. It's oppressively hot in the summer. The humidity is very high. Outdoor activities are not your friends in the middle of the day. You get used to it over time, but it's rough. There's also the dampness to get used to. Everything is at risk of getting moldy.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the bugs. Pretty nasty cockroaches. And then there's the fire ants. Although they've spread through the South since I was a kid.

Still, there were parts I liked to it. There's a decent amount of culture. And around Rice University (I think... it's been awhile), there's neat shops and restaurants.

What's in Houston?
Grad school. I got accepted to another school, but I have an interview at UT-Houston next month. The reason I'm considering the school is because of the Texas Medical Center. The program in question is offered jointly with M. D. Anderson.

I actually do not think of the heat and bugs as disadvantages great enough to prevent me from living in Houston. I come from a hot country, and mice, cockroaches, ants, and mosquitoes were all in my home. I guess I would just have to go with my "gut feeling" when I visit...

Do you own a car? Seriously! A car that you can drive?

It's all about cars in Houston.
Houston sucks, because it's sooooo spread out! The interstate darts all over the place, too, and it goes on for miles and miles and miles.

The announcements at local stores, e.g. Sears, can be in Spanish, and it's painfully annoying! If you can stand hearing Spanish on a regular and frequent basis anywhere you could possibly go (without being able to understand it, I assume??), then all the better for you...

The cool stuff in Houston, like the museums, shopping, and ice skating at the Galleria, will all cost you money.

I've never lived in Houston, but I've been there more times than I can even count...

My lifelong bff wanted to have her bachelorette party in Houston, but thankfully!, we're having it here. 😀 If you like to "go out", then most likely, you'll have to leave by 2am.

I drive my car, on average, once a week. There is no point in ever leaving the loop in my opinion. I rarely find a good reason to travel beyond a 2 mile radius from the medical center. Everything is here.

The weather in Houston is most similar to the weather in Florida, but in my opinion, with less rain and less humidity. More Arizona-ish/Vegas-ish, which I love, being that I was raised in southern California.

The bugs are worse in Florida.

An interstate that goes on for miles?!?!?!!?! What a ****ing absurdity. Those crazy bastards have so many miles on their interstates, that they even number exits after them!!!!!!

Wow...that is crazy! An interstate highway that goes for miles and miles. I prefer my highways go for a max of 5 miles. I do not like to drive very far....thats just me though.

There are many prescription coupons that are posted on the website RxInfoBlog.com. Can you please pass the information along to anyone who might find it useful. Pharmacists and doctors can print them and give to patients or direct them to the website. There are a lot of money saving coupons for Brand name drugs posted. Hope the information is helpful. Thank you for reading.

Who's awesome?

You're awesome! (Stupid beagle dog can't spell "You're")

Good for ****ing you! I wouldn't want wee, wittle Priapism to have to experience anything out of his wittle, tiny existence. 🙄

You obviously need to get out more. 😎

😴

Please! Don't quit your day job... 🙄 I wouldn't want you to fail at comedy or anything. 👎

😴 (you too!) :meanie:

medcpa lives in the Midwest. It would be a totally different ballgame, IMO.

Houston is the most inconvenient city that I have ever been to. It can take 2 hours to get from one side to the other... which sucks!

Two things: I don't drive (yet), and in SW Missouri where I live, you pretty much need a car to go anywhere. Solved this problem by getting the people I know to drive me everywhere.

Wherever I move, though, I'm going to take driving lessons. Thanks for all the input, you guys (and gals 😉). Keep 'em coming.

That site is the ****.
😛 Isn't it? I love that site! 😍 (They're just weird about posting copyrighted info.; they'll actually go behind people after the fact and edit out that kind of stuff.)

You can learn about a city or state to the point of feeling like you've been there already without ever having to leave the comfort of your own doublewide. 😀

I'm almost sure where we're moving after I graduate, and I owe it mostly to that site. I just need to verify the decision by actually visiting during in the summer and winter to make sure. Can you tell that I like to plan ahead? 😛

Be careful about that though...people on there pimp their home towns like crazy. You rarely get an idea if a place is a ****hole or not. The Detroit people even claim their town is great.

Yes. WVU is right. 🙂

I've been looking into more "rural", exotic areas on City-Data, searching realtor.com or similar sites, using GoogleMaps, and doing general Google searches. Sometimes the government websites are good, but they're usually only good for public services.

My biggest problem might be finding good internet service... 😛

Unless the town has FIOS, they suck. Surprisingly, Pittsburgh has FIOS. That makes me happy...because I'm likely going to wind up there soon...

I thought you hated "Yinzerville." And what's FIOS? Off the top of my head, it brings to mind HDTV service. I could probably Google it, but tell me anyway.

Well....I hate Pitt the school...not really the town. Honestly, I really like Pittsburgh.

And FIOS is Verizon's kinda new fiber optic service. 20Mbit up/20Mbit down internet (that's speedy)...HDTV service...land line phone service...bundled all together its pretty cheap.
