Hi,

Since I'm taking the MCAT on this day, and no one has started a thread for this date yet, I'm starting one.

May the MCAT god be with us!!! 😀

did everyone/anyone have a cladogram on their BS section (about different species and divergence over time)?

Yes and that passage messed me up! I have no idea how to read those things and havnt ever even studied them. Needless to say I guessed and my damn bio score is going to suck becuase of it😡

Know what BS passage really screwed with me (besides the SNAREs, of course)? The one with breathing efficiency for athletes vs. non-athletes. No one here seemed to think it was too bad, but I just remember reading the questions and having like half of them make no sense.

My least favorite bio passage was definitely that evolutionary tree one! (I'm not even sophisticated enough to call it a cladogram!) It took me way too long to get through! I had totally forgotten about that athlete/nonathlete breathing rate passage until GTV brought it up! I think at that point, I felt so screwed by the test anyway, that that passage felt par for the course. But yes, I thought it was tricky, too. seemed more reading comprehensiony to me than anything else.

OH something that totally SUCKED during the test was that after I thought I was done, I'd hit review, only to see that I had missed the last question of passage 2 or 3 or something cuz I didn't scroll down all the way. Thankfully, I got to those in the end, but not seeing them the first time I read the passage totally threw me off because a) it freaked me out and b) I didn't exactly have time to reread the whole passage again, so I had to go by memory. EEEK!!

I kind of don't even want to know my score anymore... 🙁

I couldn't figure out that passage even after coming back to it the second time. The passage didn't seem hard to read, the problem was the questions and the cladogram. Never seen one before. It definitely was not in my review books(TPR or EK) or any of the full-lengths I've taken. I didn't even know the name for it till now! Yikes!!

I did. I didn't fully know how to read the chart properly, it was sorta tricky, but hopefully I got it. Hated that passage. Since when is EVOLUTION and PREHISTORY a main topic on the MCAT? It came outta no where, always thought those topics would be purely for discrete questions.

Yes, here's hoping that was the experimental bio passage that does not count toward our score. I have never seen anything quite like that.

everyone knows that in order to be a great doctor, one MUST know the evolutionary patterns of the magnificent North American plant. Duh!

For those who took this exam, how reflective of this test are the RECENT AAMC online exams? and for TPR tests and prep work?

I'm curious bc I'm taking TPR soon. Thanks!

Haven't taken TPR but I can comment on the AAMC exams. The 3/28 MCAT was significantly more difficult than any of the practice exams posted on e-mcat.com. That being said most score within their AAMC practice exam average on the actual MCAT. Good luck.

I agree with dru. Also, I would try reading longer verbal passages as the 3/28 test threw off my timing. I thought they were longer than the AAMC practice tests. Overall, the actual test was way more difficult than any of they practice tests.

I'll have to agree with the guys above on comparing it to AAMC difficulty. And I'm not just saying that cause we were in the hot seat taking the real MCAT... it was much harder. The questions for PS mostly came from the passages, unlike AAMC where they were all essentially discretes (I barely had to refer to the passage!).

Haha just noticed my last sentence...sorry, I promise my timing wasn't thrown off b/c of my ebonics.

TPR tests are a waste of time. they are not even close to the real mcat test. the prep work for TPR is ok...Id recommend maybe other books but if tpr is all you have its not a complete waste of time.

Many people on this thread have detailed dreams they've had concerning the test.. and I haven't had one---- until last night. Thought it would only be appropriate to share:

So I went on my computer, and before checking SDN to see how other people did, I went straight to the AAMC site. My score turned out to be:
a 10 for PS, an 8 for BS, and a 4 for VR... And the best part: a "W" for writing-- which obviously doesn't even exist.

I was so upset that I ended up just flying to the beach. (I fly a lot in my dreams)..

Crazy right?

...lol

As an already mentioned MCAT veteran, I feel it's my duty to make sure this thread keeps going, and to keep all of us occupied so our thoughts don't slowly turn us into the living dead.

So...another favorite topic: If you hit or beat your target score, how will you celebrate?

I decided I would take all of my friends out for a night of drinks (happy hour of course..i'm not exactly rich) and then let all hilarity ensue.

I also decided I would take all non-sellable MCAT review books and burn them for warmth at a bonfire.

Anyone else?

Love the burning idea! We both live in the OC, imagine the beautiful fire that could be made on the beach! My friend is taking the test on may2nd, were gonna combine a celebration and go drink the memories of the mcat away!

I would LOVE to burn my books. I would get so much joy from it.

Random, but I was looking at the 4/18 thread and thought it was funny that a guy who took it 3/28 and 4/18 said that the 4/18 test takers should've considered the test as a gift from God...lol...

LoL i know what you mean...I know so many people who are taking the mcats in april and in january, so many all said it was easy and the questions they had were just not even near as hard as this 3/28 was. Why did we have to get ****ed w/o lube 🙁. On the bright side maybe it will all work itself out. Well find out in a week! If I have to retake........going to hate that so much. 😡

if, by the sheer grace of God, I manage to hit my target score or at least even manage to get a 10 on each category, i will celebrate by eating two pounds of fried chicken.

hahahaha, fried chicken is awesome.

4-18 MCATer here just dropping by...this actually made me laugh a lot for some reason.

anyways, this thread definitely made me go in expecting the worst for PS, which was good for me...it wasn't bad at all for my test. but verbal really raped me in all sorts of ways, and bio was no walk in the park either, so maybe we'll consider it an even trade?

ah hell, a super hard PS would've f***ed me for the rest of the test, i think you guys got the **** end for this one.

ok, good luck with scores you guys, there has to be some justice for all this hard work...at least i like to believe it.

I will celebrate by taking my husband away for a week end to our favorite city (Houston). As a way of saying thank you for dealing with my neurotic tendencies which have been highly accentuated during this waiting period. Oh I just can't till its all over. And I am believing God for a great curve on our test. Just a few more days hang in there guys.

i've been looking at the 4-18 MCAT thread and the others and i'm kinda disheartened to see that their tests felt more "doable" compared to ours. i'm really nervous about my scores...

^well...i didn't take 3/28 but i can tell you that 4/18 was not that easy. It probably was easier than 3/28 but the curve will probably compensate you guys more than us.

It better :scared:. I dont think ive met anyone who took that test who felt it was doable. My friend took the 4/18 test and for the bio she said you had a lot of physio and almost no genetics 🙁. I envy that!

haha, i dont even effin know what we had on our bio section, during the exam i wondered if i was even taking the MCAT or if it was some other exam that i was taking by mistake lol

Hi all, new to posting, but I've been lurking around for a while now. I'm just really hoping we get our scores back this Friday! I don't think I can wait another weekend!!!

My personal theory is Friday the 24th. I've heard they much prefer releasing scores on Fridays after 5pm because it gives people the entire weekend to cool down and think over their scores, so fewer people end up flooding their offices with calls.

I know this is just someone's theory but it's gotten the idea in my head...

i'm going to go ahead and assume they won't come until tuesday at 5 like they said... plus if i start expecting them on friday i won't be able to concentrate on anything for the rest of the week

Ive never heard of the scores coming out early ever from anyone i knew who took the test. Ive heard late by a few hours but never early by a few days. Though I hope im wrong....

I took the MCAT CBT back in April 2007 and they were 3-4 days late with scores. It was the worst wait ever. I am hoping that this time around they will get the scores out on time.

I've taken the MCAT before.. and I was also a 'regular' to thread of my specific test. I can ASSURE you that the score will not be out early.

This may be a self fulfilling prophecy.. but usually the day or so before the scores are scheduled to come out there is a whole page (or even more) of reply threads regarding hopes of getting scores earlier than expected.

So.. don't waste your time considering the hypothetical.
Plus.. in the rare case where the scores come out late, you'll be extremely let down in false hope.

April 28th. 5pm. (or maybe even a couple minutes after)... Hang in there.

Only 8 days to go...

Thanks for posting that, codswallop, I was just going to go try to find that list again to see if I had misread it.

Seems like 1 day ahead of time is actually relatively common (unless I really am misreading it). Still, it does seem like a good idea to just expect the scores to be released on Tuesday at 5pm. (Not that that's going to stop me from checking beginning on Friday!)

Yo Elijah

glad to see you're a fellow OC'er. From the looks of it, i'm pretty sure which UC you probably go to as well. I went there too.

I read your story in your profile, and it was pretty powerful stuff man. I really wish the best for you, in both this exam and in the cycle! Definitely inspiring.

and yeah, let's burn our books for sure, i'm sure the carbon emissions will be minimal...heh

except these are all from like a year ago... i know the 1/30 and 1/31 2009 people got theirs like 3 minutes after they were supposed to come out...

I really wish that FRIDAY rumor didn't spread like wild fire. It's definitely gonna' get me checking all throughout the weekend now!

Well, I check this thread often enough, and looking at everyone impatience, I think this thread'll tell me the second scores are up.

Sorry for getting everyone worked up about that day that shall not be named (it starts with an F) 😳

does anyone think we'll reach the 1000 thread post mark by the time test scores go out?
