Hi,

Since I'm taking the MCAT on this day, and no one has started a thread for this date yet, I'm starting one.

May the MCAT god be with us!!! 😀

This is my first time posting here. I took the mcat last August for the first time and retook it on 3/28. The mcat has eaten my soul for the last time. If I have to take it again, I'm gonna go ape****. Just to let everyone know, don't be surprised if scores aren't posted on the 28th. My August scores showed up a couple of days late.

I'm supposed to be writing a lab report on the preparation of lidocaine, and I keep refreshing here instead. This has been the longest month evvvvvvvvver. I'm getting kind of scared, though, I'm afraid I'll be horribly disappointed. I really have no realistic idea of what to expect at all.

My thoughts exactly. The only thing worse than this wait would be getting a crappy score, having to re-study and retake the MCAT, and then having to wait all over again.

I have to admit, I did some creepin' on the 05/28/09 thread today (2nd most replied thread in the MCAT Discussion forum) and it was reassuring to see the same pattern of posts as our thread.
1. preparation for the test. usual mcat talk.
2. complete domination post-MCAT. It was "harder compared to other dates."
3. people worried that scores are low and have to retake, lookin' at DO schools, etc.
4. score release: most of their scores were 30+, or at least the people who continued the thread.

...lets just pray that the same happens to us.

...i studied for this test for 4 months...and when i say 4 months im sayin in the 120 some odd days in those 4 months, i studies for about 115...IF I HAVE TO DO THIS AGAIN IM GONNA ****IN KICK SOMEBODIES ASS!!!!!!!!

Well along those same lines, i doubt the person who got a 24 mcat will want to continue the thread and parade around the fact he failed miserably and will have to retake this beast of a test.

I hope so, I don't know what I'd do if I had to study for the mcat yet again.

I really don't want to study again either. Right after the test I tried to continue listening to an audio mcat review on the way to school to keep topics fresh in my mind.

After about 2 and 1/2 days I said screw it and blast my music everyday... now I'm worrying I should've kept on listening. Ah well f*** it. Hopefully I won't feel too bad next Tuesday:xf:

I tried the same thing. I planned to study as if i was going to retake on may 2nd...but it fell apart quickly within my 1st day of trying to study...If i bombed it w/e ill try to take a june test and my app will be slightly late.

4/4/09 test taker here who is anxiously waiting for results :scared:. Best of luck to all the 3/28/09ers. I can't wait to see how you all did....

I'm getting SO nervous ... each day feels a little longer and my heart beats faster and faster whenever I think about the MCAT. I can't focus. I'm almost certain I'll open up my score sheet and see a 2 in PS, an 8 in VR, and maybe a 10 in BS. Planning to retake in late-May right before I leave for a summer internship. Ugh.

So I finally had my dream 15 PS, 14 VR, and 11 BS. This is significantly above any of my practice exams, so at least my mind is engaging in optimistic thought. If only dreams were reality lol.

So, I was thinking the other day that there must be some remote possibility, I'm sure a billion to 1 or something, but isn't it possible that a person could just get lucky and pick enough correct answers by pure random dumb luck to get a good score? It's my fantasy, leave me alone.

I was hoping the same thing. By the way, I always pictured your avatar as parrot for some reason. Why the change?

I haven't had a dream about getting mcat scores, but i think i had one about interview day... I was interviewing with a group and for some reason got really pissed and cursed out everyone then stormed out... probably not a good sign

lol well I wouldnt say the odds are that bad! I mean there were 2 AAMC practice tests where my guesses just happened to be right and I ended up with a 37 while others my 50/50 guesses were wrong and i ended up with a 31. Id say luck with guessing on POE questions plays a huge role in how well you did! Especially on verbal since i swear every question i get like to the 50/50 point...and just go with my gut...

So I just went to THX to do my daily check-for-scores-even-though-I-know-they're-not-up-yet, and the page hadn't loaded after 30 seconds. Excited that it was because it was so bogged down with people checking their newly-released scores, I eagerly reloaded it... apparently it was my crappy internet: alas, no scores yet. 🙁

doesnt it go down for weekly maintainence or something like that? I always thought it was something like that.

Wow, you'll never believe this one. My MCAT score dreams are just too ridiculous.

I dreamt I got a 144 on it, which is apparently an amazing to score to my dream self, since I was estatic. Then I "woke up" and went, AWE MAN TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. And checked online, and scores were posted, and I got a 28. But then, as I stared a the screen, it refreshed by itself, updating the scores with te new scale. I was up to a 29. It happened again, and I ultimately ended up with a 31. And then I really woke up.

March 28th was quite a sad day in the life of me. SHouldve checked into a hospital after that...or called the rape hotline

Hahahahaha, I hate those dreams where you keep "waking up."

You guys got my hopes up with the talk about aamc being down!! I want my scores now. Not that I'm impatient or anything.

I keep telling myself 5 more days, and it SOUNDS reasonable, but it feels really long.

I think I'll have a beer. That should make time go faster, right?

Sometimes when I drink heavily I can bend the fabric of time. Also, people adore me and find me charming and amusing.

Then I wake up with a hangover in the morning and everybody hates meeeeee

I've been really good and patient for the last 3 weeks (right? Right.) but NOT ANY LONGER. I checked 3 times today, just because I could.

AAMC, you're killing me here. These last few days are the worst!

And I don't even need to get a great score anymore (I've changed my mind and decided to apply ED to my local State U), so this is just mostly my curiosity alone that's driving me crazy. It's awful.

We'll see what happens tomorrow.. Despite my 'Friday' guess a few pages back, I now have a feeling that this is destined to be the longest weekend ever.

One thing that helps me to wait is that I have a bookmark labeled "MCAT scores" but the link sends me to espn.com. That way I get the satisfaction of "checking my scores" without the disappointment of them not being up yet. Plus I usually get distracted by the various content on that site that I forget about checking my scores for a while. Rinse and repeat.

lol good idea. Except that during class i am religiously on ESPN so ive already read the stories by the time i get home🙁. Cant believe tony gonzalez was traded for only a 2nd round!

personally, i feel like this month has passed by so fast, and i think it's because i was having fun doing things i didn't get to do while studying for the MCAT. but now that there's less than a week, i'm dreading the 28th .... i don't have any feeling that i did really poorly or well, just a hopeful feeling that maybe i guessed right on a couple of questions. but because there's so much riding on this test (mainly b/c my GPA is horrendous), i don't know if i'll have the guts to sign into the MCAT THx website. i think i'll have to get my boyfriend to do it for me. whatever i find out on the 28th will have a big impact on my life, and i'm trying to enjoy this brief time of ignorant "bliss" that i have left ...

you guys who are compulsively signing into THx like everyday, you are all so brave!

samesies (except for the boyfriend) lol

I was just wondering, about how long did everyone here make their essays on the MCAT? I know the essay score doesn't really matter much, but mine were quite short. How many paragraphs and what structure did you use?

Mine were quite short as well. Don't remember how many paragraphs but I do know that I never had to use the scroll bar to read my entire essay. My friend who took it said hers were the same length and she did fine on the essay. So hopefully we did alright. Good luck.

Mine were pretty short too, I think at most 4 paragraphs, only having to use the scroll bar a little bit

I used 3-4 paragraphs not long. Normally I just use intro then agree with prompt give example, disagree with prompt give example, last paragraph conclusion and find some middle group/read between the lines and thats that. Personally I dont even care anyways about writing since the score doesnt matter even one ounce to any med school.

That's a really good idea. I think I'm actually going to do it.

And my essays were real short, too. It's one of the reasons I wouldn't be surprised to get a lousy essay score. I thought I wrote them decently well, but didn't really develop my ideas like I probably should have.

Have you ever heard of anybody retaking after getting a good numerical score, but a crap writing score? Cause I haven't. Even if I got a 35L, I'm not sure I could force myself to relearn all the content just to write a better essay..

I definitely only wrote three paragraphs for each essay. I tried to answer the questions being asked, use good grammer, spelling, punctuation, etc. But I felt I did not write as much as I should have or develop the ideas as much as I should have. But really, 30 minutes is not enough time to write that much, I don't think the essay score counts for much, and my strategy was to use that hour to relax in a way, not be stressed out and killing myself before the last science section.

Waiting is driving me insaaaaane! insane in the membrane, lol. that means every single one of my cells has gone crazy. in fact, so have all my membrane-bound organelles. that's a lot of crazy.
