Btw, I saw in your other post that you use BR for verbal. Is it any good? It's a little late in the game but I've been thinking about trying it out. I'm almost out of EK 101 and TPR VR passages.
I still wish I had a better idea of the equations that absolutely need to be memorized. EK only has equations in back of each chapter in the physics book.
Yeah, I'm definitely going to switch over to EK 101 after finishing up my TPRH verbal workbook, for which I am frequently scoring 7-8s.
The EK passages are actually interesting to read, but the questions are a bit nitpicky IMO. I have done 12 of the 14 practice verbal tests. I think it is really good practice though, 10X better than Kaplan verbal.

My least favorite passages are definitely anything involving economics. There is a reason that I am a science major 🙂
Steve and Choco you seem to be the most involved on this thread, what are you guys realistically hoping to score on the real deal? Any ideal medical schools or future specialties?
Ugh..did 3 EK passages again, timed for about 23 min. Ended up missing one more than last time. Gonna look over what I did wrong, hopefully I'll do better tomorrow.
Dude chill out on the verbal haha. It really sounds like you're on overdrive with it, which can reduce your score to begin with. All I'm doing with verbal at this point is practicing a little every day and trying to make sure that my timing is on par. For me, if I finish the test- which I do about 75% of the time- I do well enough. Maybe try and find that one little thing about your approach- it simplifies things. Of course, it's easier said than done, and I've definitely gone on verbal overdrive several times already 😀.

Have you considered meditating between passages?

meditating? 😕 Enlighten me Buddha?
I assumed he was talking about the EK strategy, where you take a little 5-second breather in between passages, to clear your mind and prepare for the next passage.
To all of the people that are getting beat up by tpr exams, the first few are the harder than the real mcat.
I am also scheduled to take the exam on 4/16. I am having problem with my verbal timing, I am working on EK 101 and it is helping. it just not where i want to be at. any suggestions are well appreciated.👍

I don't know about you guys, but it's been hellish at school this week and pretty unproductive mcat-wise 🙁. I was supposed to take a FL tomorrow, but I decided to push it to Saturday, and spend all of tomorrow reviewing some older concepts instead.
I still feel a bit shaky on ochem, so I'll probably spend a majority of my time on that. I'm glad elimination reactions aren't tested anymore haha.
Is the free TPR online MCAT legit? It is on the first page of their website, but I don't want to have to give them credit card information or what not to get my score afterward (would be a big waste of time). Anyone know anything about it?
Verbal is definitely a drag.
I just meant find one little thing that sums up what you need to do to get your target score. For me, I aim to just finish on time. That's it really. If I finish on time, I never score below a 9 on TPR diags. I'm hoping that basement score will be higher on AAMCs.
I personally am getting anxious to start AAMCs, but I still need to finish content review (will be completely finished next week).
To those of you talking about the TPR exams: I think it is now pretty much a given that TPR tests are harder, and that you can expect to score higher on AAMCs and even the real thing. If that holds true, I should be in a good position as I have scored in the high 20s, low 30s lately on TPR diags.
Ugh, 22 on AAMC3 (I seriously expected 30 after taking it). I'm so disappointed; going to figure out why my studying hasn't proven to be efficient at all.
Started studying seriously since February and have been scoring well in the Berkeley Physics and Chem books (~10s) and using PR Bio and Science Workbook for Bio. Ended up with a 9 on verbal and 6,7 on the BS and PS, respectively. I'm completely lost in Orgo, but I should recall a lot of information after reviewing the BR books for that. Would 5 weeks suffice for an increase in 10+ pts? I feel like I'm running out of time and I don't really want to postpone.
Hey, no worries! As long as you keep practicing and studying, you ought to be fine. Remember: don't take the exam until your full-lengths are at or greater than the score you want.
Things were rough for me for a little while, but now everything's getting better. I finished outlining my content and am now recording my notes so I can listen to them at work. There's a slight disconnect with my friends, I must admit - no one wants to talk about restriction enzymes or thermodynamics! But I'm getting more and more confident every day. Once my finals for this term are over, I'll be doing full-lengths every week. Here's hoping I break 33 before April 1st! That's my goal!
I'm sort of tracking my progress by how many pens and highlighters I run dry. Hahaha! Anyone else have a weird quirk in their studying like that? I can't be the only one! 😉
