In lieu of the other threads popping up, I thought it'd be good for those of us taking the test to identify ourselves 👍

I'm not planning on following a rigid study schedule until January, but I think I'm going to watch a single video off of wikipremed daily to lightly review.

Good luck to everyone... we will crush this exam..

I have no experience with AMCAS, so I can't comment on that. I have filled 60% of my AACOMAS already and planning on submitting it on June 1st, assuming I don't score too low. Even if I don't like my score, I will still submit on June 1st with intention to retake, but that contingent on not scoring very low and have my application screened out by schools. Today, I'm planning to pass by my undergrad schools and request my transcripts to be sent to AACOMAS. Last year, the verification took less than two weeks on average, so by June 15 my primaries must be ready to be viewed by the schools I'm applying to.

Do LORs go with secondaries for ACOMAS or do I need to have then when I submit the primary ACOMAS application? I know that I can probably find out this information on-line. But since we may all need this information anyways... I thought that I would ask. 🙂

LOR's are needed for the secondaries, not for the primaries. Many use interfolio to handle their LOR's, but I'm using a service my undergrad school provides since it's free.

I like IPA's and stouts. I have a bottle of Sierra Nevada Northern Hemisphere Harvest I've been saving for a special occasion. Possibly will crack it open on the 29th and mix it with tears of joy or tears of sorrow.

I hate to admit it, but I'm a bit of a wuss with my beer preference. Give me an Allagash white or a weinstephaner and I'm a happy man. Though I will drink whatever's on hand; can't be too picky.

I'll probably be drinking pale ales, maybe a blue moon seasonal.

If I don't do as well, then it's going to be black label.

That would be very nice 👍 But since almost all of us said BIO was on the easier side, I suspect the curve will be less lenient than PS

Too optimistic. The 11-12 range is below any of the practice AAMCs, and 10 is at the rock bottom. Considering that we won't see our raw scores it's a futile exercise anyway.

The practice AAMCs were also a lot easier than our test, resulting in a more lenient curve. The BS curve will probably be like AAMC 11's. The PS will be pretty lenient I suspect.

That's open for debate, which unfortunately cannot be resolved without the raw data.

Keep in mind that in each section there are some experimental questions which will not be scored.

Futile indeed. The only raw score I'll be keeping track of is how many shots of bourbon it will take to wipe away the tears.

its just 8 more days... no biggie, just focus on something else... like getting your PS written, edited, and re-edited. Look up the missions of schools and their secondary essays so you can get a jump start.

We can request to have our transcripts sent before our apps are even submitted, correct? I'm waiting for grades to be in and hopefully it happens within the next week.

Anyone started their personal statement yet?

Tried and failed miserably each time. I've gotten a paragraph in. It's so easy writing it in your head but producing it on paper and showing that same passion and desire is difficult. :/

Yes, mine were received today by AMCAS and I was notified via e-mail.

Yes I finished mine at the end of april. Im going to re-edit it and have it read by 3-4 more people before AMCAS opens but at a point, you have to stick with it.

If you submit your PS to be edited, everyone will find something to change. It will never be perfect in the sense you want it. As long as you are satisfied with it, go ahead and finish it out.

I had 4 reviewers rate my essay from 8-9/10, one gave it a 7 and one gave it a 5-6 LOL...
Keep in mind that SDN reviewers dont do this for a living so dont take it too harshly when you get a bad critique.

Does this go for AMCAS, AACOMAS, and TMDSAS?

IDK why IBN said that LORS are needed for secondaries... It is submitted with the primaries. If he meant that LORS are required before secondaries are sent, then its partially true. I had secondary requests sent to me while my AMCAS was being verified last year ( i withdrew my app before it went through though). It depends on the school I guess.

Stay strong people, 8 more days till my gift card!

Probably because you can change/add them after you submit your application. I'm not sure how schools find out about the additional letters. It would seem that it's ok to submit them to AMCAS before they submit the information to the schools though - so before 7/1?

Yes, I have contacted both AMCAS and TMDSAS and you can send both the Transcripts and the LORs before you submit your primary application.

Fellow 04/26 mcater right here, hello everybody, this post has been very helpful to me, thanks all.
Now that the finals are done and grades are out, almost everyone of my friends left the city and it looks like a ghost town. So I decided to to start on finishing my applications (AMCAS, TMDSAS, AACOMAS). I think starting with TMDSAS can be helpful because it gives a chance to include multiple entries for category and in details.
Good luck to all, 7 more days

Anxiously waiting for my scores so I can either narrow down my list of schools, or greatly expand and throw my application against the wall in the hopes that it sticks somewhere 🙂

Ok thats what I'm trying to figure out. I have all my LORs ready to go except physician, which I am still waiting to ask for a letter. If I need it to submit with my primaries I'll ask him asap, I just wasn't sure if that had to be with primaries or secondaries.

Anyone done with their personal statement yet?

Yup, finished my last revisions today. Had a doctor who is a recent graduate and on staff at a med school read and edit and also had my cousin who has a phd in English and works with admission for his university edit as well. Lets just say that this PS is buttoned up quite well thanks to their help.

Hey guys,
Long time lurker and first time poster. I took the 4/26 MCAT like most of you and I think I am freaking out more now a week before than I was immediately after. I can't seem to focus on much --which is terrible because I go to a quarter school and we still have a month left...😡 Anyways, good luck to everyone - I booked a flight home for May 29th so I can have a drink with my dad afterwards (good or bad) and spend the week(end) watching the Memorial golf tournament (screw school).

ONE WEEK😱

If you're applying to DO schools, LORs can only be sent with secondaries. AACOMAS literally has no place to upload letters of recommendation.

To clarify, what has to be filled with TMDSAS is the name of the person writing your LOR. It doesnt have to be 'RECEIVED' before submitting your app. The app services send your information as they receive it. I guess he meant that schools want to have your LORS before they send the secondaries. Not true for Texas but might be for outside of the state.

Im not well versed with AACOMAS since I am not applying DO. Ill take your word on this.

This time next week, we will have our scores and I'm terrified. Chances are I'll be in the ED when they're out and I have no idea how to escape to check the score and not let it affect my mood. Even to this point, Idk what to expect. I wouldn't be surprised with anything at this point. Just hope for the best I guess. Good luck all. Trying not to go crazy before next week.

Yeah I'll be at work too. Debating on waiting to check after I get home. Just finished first draft of personal statement. Whew.

Long time lurker here. Anyone get their Amazon Giftcards yet? I thought we were supposed to get them a week before the test score release date!

I'll be at work as well. Going to check on my phone.

Less than a week until our immediate futures are affected, either for better or worse!

I work night shift and will get them before going in. I am hoping that it doesn't throw my whole night off.

Definitely not studying. Too busy trying to finish the app. And the thought of looking at that stuff again makes me cringe. I had a dream last night I got a 7 on PS :-(

MONEH! What are you guys spending your $30 on? 🙂

You answered 75% of questions correctly on the Trial Section which puts you in the top quarter as compared to others who received the same Trial Section questions as you.

Surprising considering I did the section in 10 minutes...

Yay monies! 84% correct?? Hopefully I got that lucky on the real thing.

O Grady, I need to start studying but I haven't yet. My retake is June 20th...

Anyone else already studying for a retake? I definitely know that I didn't do my best on this test, so hopefully round 2 goes better

I am... I have been so busy with my application and work that I have barely done any studying... I feel like I have forgotten so much... what are you all going to do to restudy since we have all basically done all the practice AAMCs?

Anyone doing TBR FLs? I would like to set up a thread to go over them. Anyone doing the in chapter passages from TBR? I would like to go over those too.

I am also buying PR hyperlearning for verbal today or tomorrow too.

I signed up to retake on July 25th... what about the rest of you?

I pray that I at least got a 31 and it is balanced. If I did, I might not retake. I have way too much to do and I don't wanna spend my life stressing out and studying for this exam. Lets all pray that we all scored high enough!!! 🙂

Retaking if your score is lower than a 31? Heck, I'm applying with whatever I get. 24? Yep, still applying.
