Hi everyone!

I just registered to take the MCAT on May 23, 2013 at 8:00 a.m.! I had to register early because I live in NYC and seats fill up fast!

I'm gonna start with SN2's schedule in a couple of months. I ordered the books (TBR, EK, EK1001, etc) a couple of days ago.

How are you guys gonna study?

Best of luck everyone,

- DT93

my final, reasonable prediction: 8/10/9... 27, which i guess i could live with. i'm off this until tuesday -- good luck, friends [in the mcat struggle]

Hoping for an early release tomorrow (Monday) evening. That way I don't have to freak out (in happiness or despair) at work on Tuesday afternoon.

First post! I've been lurking on here for a while now and felt like I should finally post. I took the mcat on 5/23 and this website has helped me so much through this process. Good luck, I hope everyone gets their dream score!

This thread is soo quiet. Like 10 people or less posted their trial scores, lol. I hope they curve it more or something.

From AAMC's Twitter:
"Every exam goes through the scaling process to minimize variability in test scores and more accurately assess your abilities."

Apparently that's why it still takes a month + for scores to come out.

So 3 pm on Tues? I don't think I will come on again till then, I don't want to jinx myself lol.

It's quiet because everybody cancelled their score

Do they usually go by their tentative score release schedule? I just want to know my score, panic attack and get back on the track studying for the retake lol..
I hope they release it tomorrow

I've been looking at the last few score releases and none of them were early. Small sample size but it doesn't seem like they release early. Weird to think our scores are just sitting there waiting to be released.

I knew I should've taken it on the 30th instead! Oh wait, that would've given me a score of 2...

Yea I took it on the 30th and if that was true I would die! Good luck to you guys and I hope you all get your dream scores come tuesday!!

I read in a few other threads (2008-2011) that scores occasionally get released the evening before. It's a pretty rare event, but you never know.

I dig your style, Dude.

Yeah, well. The Dude abides. 😎

Everyone keeps suggesting not many people took the 5/23 exam/many people cancelled their scores. What do you guys think that means for the scale? I'm hoping more generous (especially in PS)!

Good luck fellow 5/23ers, we're almost there! :luck:

Maybe because its right on the same week as most people finals so only the under dawgs that are out of college took the exam so curve will be more generous haha

hey! i'm from the may 30th date... does anyone know if they e-mail everyone when scores come out or do they just post something on twitter? we got our trial scores the same day you did, so i'm hoping maybe in some alternate universe we will get our scores with you guys!
good luck everyone!

I think it's a combination of people cancelling their scores and the May 23rd test date not being as widely offered. When I signed up for it I noticed that there were a bunch of states that didn't even offer the 23rd or the 30th test dates, so we may simply just be a smaller group.

That's west coast time? Cause I'm pretty sure 5/18 released 3pm east coast.

Hey guys
This may be a silly question but was our MCAT basically the same across the country or did every state get a different version? Was reading the comments and it seems as though it was difficult for some and I was wondering if it may be geographical.

Thanks!

I am in the same boat...seriously already registered to retake it 07/25...but i hope i didnt do that terribly on 05/23....what is taking so long we had to take the whole thing on a computer which was oh so fun...just run the data!

anyone else notice the number of users viewing this thread rising? making me even more nervous!

Wait til those "guests" decide to register and tell you how upset they are that they got a 38 😀 let the trolls come

the wait time has made getting scores anti-climactic for me... i just don't want to waste the summer on a retake.. that's priority right now lol

I'm just waiting to be able to sell my damn $600+ worth of SN2ED books! Haha. Cant wait for that $$$ (assuming no retake)

I've been lurking on this thread for a couple of weeks to get a feel of how everyone thought of the test. I agree that the PS was hard, and the VR was very doable. Also, I thought that a couple of the BS passages were very time consuming and worded awkwardly. I am so nervous for my score tomorrow as I assume a lot of you are. Just wanted to post to give my support for all of you guys that are nervous like me. I was getting 26-28 on Kaplan tests and 28 on AMCAS practice tests. I hope that I didn't get under a 26, I would be fine with a 28. Good luck everyone!!!!

I'm one of those lurkers who registered just to freak out with the rest of you.

I definitely am too nervous to sleep right now :scared:

Welcome lurkers! Glad to see you here in the final hours 🙂 t - 14.3333 hours

I am a lurker too! I'm getting desperate I even checked my horoscope! (which was pretty positive). The results are going to make or break my day tomorrow.

I averaged 31 on the aamc practice tests and ranged from 28-36.
I self studied while in a full time graduate program using the kaplan books which were pretty thorough. Although the many spelling and math errors in the books drove me crazy!! I did all the aamc exams and the self assesment package over 6 months. I hope the rest of you are also enjoying the new free time since the exam like I am.

My guess is 31 and I would be happy with that. I can't remember any of the details about the exam but I felt wrecked after the PS section. I ran out of time and randomly answered a few questions that required time consuming calculations!! I was happy to see many of you felt the same way about the PS.

The VS was strangely easy and BS was so-so. My test section results 47%!! lol not quite what I was hoping for.

Best of luck to you all.
Results are released at 4am my time.
It's going to be a long night!

No matter what happens it's not the end of the world - it's a long path we're all embarking on and at WORST this is just a minor speed bump!

Now if someone can just remind me of this in a week 😉

Hey everyone! Nontrad applicant and fellow 5/23er here. I've tried to avoid coming to this thread for the last month but I couldn't help lurking now and again. Some quick thoughts about the exam; I have been fighting off panic ever since everyone else thought PS was insane. I thought it was fairly reasonable and PS can be my weakest section. I don't remember much of verbal, only that I thought I did well on it. BS just about broke me, I was not expecting that much Ochem, and the Ochem topics I had prepared most for were barely there. I never broke 30 in my prep but then again I did it with the TPR class and they have you taking them all along, before content review is finished. The week before the exam I got my best score (29 on TPR 4) yet, so here's hoping that uptrend continues! I'm expecting a 28-29 and am applying to a post bacc if I get it, but med school if 30+. Cheers and good luck everyone, the first big exam of our medical careers is almost behind us!

hahaha, i figured i was calm until i had my first "mcat dream" today that i had scored a 25... wtf. lol, oh well, better today than two weeks ago. good luck and whatnot to us :luck:

Let us all beseech the blessings of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking

- Dwight Eisenhower prior to D-Day invasion.....let these words resonate!!!!!

Get those 30+ scores so you can enter medical school and save lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
