Hey Everyone,

I was searching through the threads to see if one has been created for this test date yet, but I could not find it so I thought I would create it. I am waiting for finals to finish up and then going to hit practice tests for the next three months!

I had this arrowhead passage! Hopefully that means our experimental passage was in bio (the hardest section of that damn test)

Thank you sir for saving me from 30 days of hair pulling stress. I swear I thought I accidentally skipped a passage on VR because I couldn't remember the 7th passage! Arrowheads!

Wait, if we all have 1 different passage, does it mean that passage is experimental?

Know what you mean. Reading how everyone says VR was easy is making me depressed.

Ha, we'll see how easy verbal was when we get our scores. I know this has been said before but when you think it's easy, you might be way off. The one time I thought the passages were clear on one of aamc practice tests I made my lowest score. My highest was when I guessed on almost all the questions and thought I bombed. My low was an 8 and my high was a 13.

I also think I need to be banned. This 30 day thing is driving me crazy

... feel like I should start studying again but really, really don't want to!

I know what you mean. I signed up for a retake on 9/3--four weeks from this Friday, I think. And I just cannot get myself together to get going on it again. So I think I may give myself until Thursday or Friday to do other things.

I am also considering re-registering for the mcat. i took it on july 29th and i had trouble with biology like many of you and i wasn't expecting that at all. And verbal is just verbal, i can't predict it till i get the scores. And physical sciences, eventhough i knew a lot of the questions, i ended up guessing on a bunch of questions.
As of right now, i am assuming the worst and just thinking of retaking it.

REOTBGBT I agree.... It's only day four and I'm going absolutely nuts with anxiety.... feel like I should start studying again but really, really don't want to!

I KNOW! I've got an Aug 13th test date so I really have to get on it. If there is one thing you def will not regret in your life, it's studying for the mcat. A bit torturous but well worth it 🙂

I felt prepared on the 29th so I'm just trying not to forget anything in the meantime.

Regarding experimental passages. I searched sdn and people seem to think that entire passages can be experimental. Some people say if you read through all of the aamc stuff that they disclose this.

I believe the AAMC literature states that there are experimental "items" which I interpret as questions. It seems rather unlikely that entire passages would be experimental. Think about the implications, what if one student gets stuck on a passage, spends too much time on a passage that isn't worth anything and the rest of the graded passages suffer as a result. I doubt the AAMC would use entire passages that are experimental.

I totally agree, but for some reason people keep repeating the whole passage idea. I just don't think it's possible for the exact point you make. I wonder how they work out the scoring on a brand new passage though.... Time wondering about this stuff could probably be better spent studying

Anyone else dying to know with another 25 days to go? Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!

Whats killing me is not knowing whether I need to study or not. I feel like I got atleast a 30 [which I wouldn't retake] so I don't want to study. But the boyscout in me wants to be prepared.

What also bothers me is that I can undoubtedly bring all my practice exams to a consistent 39+ in a month (wasn't that far off to begin with) so if I keep studying I know if my score isn't as high as I like it, I will probably retake even if I didn't need to.

I know how you feel. I remember writing this and thinking physics was ok even thought I stupidly made some ******* mistakes. Verbal seemed ok although it is really hard to tell and then I wasn't in the bio at all and feel like I bombed it. I was depressed for a few days and then I thought what the hell I will sign up for September in case I need to use it. I hope we both got above 30 and think I might have gotten close to that but it is really hard to be sure, so I signed up again. Whatever, in my opinion, I can be decently prepared after a weeks studying at the end of the month because I was pretty prepared just recently. Hopefully we both do well enough so we don't have to rewrite since we both really don't want to lol. But it is better to be safe than sorry and try our best. In the end, we can only hope that we did better than we think and hopefully we don't have to rewrite. Crossing my fingers!!! :xf:

I've been on a break from SDN but I had to post this. I just had a nightmare that these were my scores:

PS-8
VR-6
BS-10

And somehow this all added up to a 27, which is what I got last year 🙁

Lucky for you that adds up to 24, not 27.

Akk! I hope your score is better this time around!

I had a dream I got a 40 but I didn't feel good when I woke up -- it was like my dream was mocking me -- ONLY in my dreams would I get a 40

By the way, if anyone is interested this is a link to the Kaplan survey of recent mcat takers: http://surveys.kaptest.com/instantanalysis/mcat/blog/

WOW, i guess im not the only one having nightmares!
i had a dream i got a 29 and i was so happy!!!!! and it felt so real then i woke up with my heart beating lols and was annoyed it wasn't real.
last week i had a nightmare i got a 16, and it felt so real and when i woke i was so relieved lol i didn't even go back to sleep 😛

Have they been pretty consistent releasing the scores according to the schedule?

Though I felt good about Physical Sciences and Verbal, I am very concerned about my performance on Biological Sciences. A couple of the research passages caught me off guard and I'm worried that I blew it on that section. It would really be disappointing because I was consistently snagging 13's in AAMC practice tests. I'm considering getting a September test date just in case I don't get good news on Aug 31. Any thoughts? My worry is that if I don't get a score I'm happy with, I'm done for - this is my second time applying to med school (first MCAT score was good, but is old now).

Good luck, all! Try and keep it together (better than I am) these last two weeks before our scores drop. 🙂

I am waiting for the scores to come out and see how badly I have to study for a retake...
I've lost hope applying this cycle...🙁

I think for the first week after the test I would think about it at night and wouldn't be able to sleep. Had a few nightmares too. I really have no idea how I did. I feel like I could get a 20 or a 30 and with both scores, I could say, "oh, that's about right."

Ugh. Just in case, I'm signed up for the 9/2 test, but I haven't brought myself to study yet. I think I'm going to start this friday, although I've been saying that for 2 weeks now.

It's bull they can't release the PS, BS, and VR within a day. Absolute bull.

Oh well, now I'm pretty much not thinking about it anymore. See you all in 2 weeks for the 24 hour count down.

Peace&Love
Daniel

Ugh...12 more days...Thank God that classes start next week and that will take my mind off of the scores for a while. Hope you all done well!

My classes began on Monday, so that's kept me fairly occupied. I'm pretty sure I have an exam on the score release date, so I'll have to not focus on the scores. With each passing day, I'm feeling better about my performance, but we shall see.

Good luck :luck: to my fellow '29ers! :xf:

I know! I feel the same way and I've been losing so much sleep over this. Has it only been 20 days? I feel like I've aged a decade.

I congratulate all those who didn't freak out like I did and immediately sign up for a test date in August....before I would even know my scores. So I retook it on Aug 13th and the PS was much more challenging while the verbal and bio were about the same. Not as heavy on genetics but they threw in some crazy ochem to make up for that.

Good Luck to everyone and I hope no retakes are in your future....but if you do retake, you'll be a lot more relaxed the 2nd time around and that makes a difference. 👍

I freaked out also. 😳 I signed up for 9/3 or 2 whatever the date is, and then a week later canceled. lol sigh... wish I hadn't wasted $115. 🙁

I can't believe how the time has flown---it's been 3 weeks already since we took that test. Assuming they're on time, our scores come out in 11 days. Wow.

Ah, I can't believe our scores our coming out soon. This was my 4th MCAT, and my 2nd time actually scoring it, so I will be pretty pissed if I messed up. Nevertheless, I will still be willing to take it a 5th time in January, if that's what it takes. It was a good idea to take a hiatus from SDN this past month, though. Good luck to us all! :luck:

mine too, but i wish i did the same as you lol, and just scored two of it instead all three 😛...i am so nervous whenever i think about the release my heart beats so fast...ohhh god let it be a good score because i already submitted my primaries

Ahhhhhhhhhhh :scared:

Okay, anyone want to make score predictions? I'll go first:

PS 10
VR 6-7
BS 9

I think I'm pretty right about this, esp the verbal 🙁 Who's in for the 1/29/11 MCAT

I'll predict my score, though:
PS = 6
VR = 7
BS = 8
For a grand total of 21

I still think that's what my score will be. Oddly, when I wrote my impression of the exam and wondered about my score, I felt really run down and bleak. Now with score release much closer, I'm getting excited and nervous. But still think I bombed it! In case I have to retake, I've made a detailed 7-month re-study plan, so will be shooting for a date in early April.

But---only 7 days and a few hours!!!!

Good idea. Same here.

PS-10
VR-6-7
BS-9

Haha, seems like I already predicted my scores as well right after the exam...I still feel the same way. I am also praying for at least an 8 in verbal. Man, that would be so life changing for me. I need to get OUT of MCAT hell!!!

Regardless of what people say here on SDN, most schools do not have an official cutoff for any particular section of the MCAT.

For example, if someone got a 15/7/15 I would wager that this score would be just fine for an acceptance.

Is everyone predicting low scores so that when they get their actual score they can say, "Well at least I didn't do as bad as I thought!" -- because that's definitely why I'm low-balling my score 🙂

I know but a low verbal score=kiss of death...

Do they ever release scores a day or two early or is it always on the date given....not that it makes any real difference but I'm dying of suspense here
