I haven't seen a thread for the 8/10/12 MCAT so I thought to start it.
I am following SN2ed's 3 month schedule btw.

No sure what happen.. this is the second time I took it.. 1st time was 5/12/2012 10/4/10. 4 in verbal..
Now again.. 12/4/10 still 4 in verbal..
39T, but split horribly: 14 PS 10 VR 15 BS T Writing Sample. I know I can do so much better on VR - first ever practice test was a 12, and I've scored as high as 15. Is it worth retaking just for that?
ughhhhh....
Say that again and I am going to come kick your ass. 🙂 That is an awesome score. Don't retake it!

I just got my scores, 35M. Totally freaking out about the M for some reason. I didn't practice for it and I guess it shows. I never scored this high on practice exams before, I had a 34 as my highest. 13V 11PS 11BS so I hope that verbal can overcome that writing score. But I am thrilled by the number score!
I feel like I am going to vomit. I had a feeling I didnt do as well as I hoped but I cant believe I did so poorly compared to my practice tests. I got a 31L. My practice average was around 36 and I had scored a 40 on my most recent. I have also got an A on every paper Ive ever written yet I did horrible in writing. I feel like 6 weeks of solid studing is down the drain.
Honestly, no one cares about writing. I know someone who got a 38J which is the lowest writing score possible and received multiple interviews. They did ask him during the interview however about the writing score and he just said "my adviser told me it didn't matter" and the admissions committee accepted it. You'll get in somewhere with that great score. Congrats!

10/8/10, (28Q)
Thoroughly disappointed in myself. I scored a 35 on an AAMC I took a few days prior, and went in with confidence at an all time high.
I have never scored less than a 10 on verbal on any of the AAMCs I took. I was rushed in VR during the actual test so I suppose that's what led to the 8.
Oh well, guess I'm retaking it. How bad does taking it twice look? Do schools average the scores or take the most recent?
Don't say that man. I'm sure 99% of students would LOVE to have your score. I mean a 37 is only the 98-99%ile. Nothing impressive. 🙄My first time was at May 24, which I got a 31Q even after three weeks of full-time MCAT prep. I was disappointed and even consider finding a job instead of applying. (my average is between 37-42 in practice) However, this time around, I got a 37, not great but more acceptable. I definitely think you can redeem yourself the second time and please don't give up.
Holy craptastic mcat score. 5 in verbal thank you PT Barnum and your museum. Gap year just turned into gap years. I'm applying SMP praying for a better mcat in January.
That's exactly how I felt. Though I was pressed for time and had to guess on A LOT of questions. Ugh.. i never scored less than a 10 on ANY of the AAMCs
Just checked my scores.... 39Q (14, 11, 14)
I am so thrilled. My verbal was a bit lower than my average, but my overall score is within 1 point of my AAMC practice averages. Such a burden off my back.
Good luck this cycle everybody. Stay strong 🙂
I took the exam at 8:00 am and scored a 42N (PS 14, VR 13, BS 15). Needless to say, I was ecstatic upon seeing my score.
I post my score here not to boast, but to add credibility to the advice that I have:
To those of you who got the score you were aiming for, congrats! To those of you who did not, please do not worry yourself to death. There is no magic trick to getting the score that you want. The single most important factor that I believe led to my success on the MCAT was my determination to become a doctor. My opinion is that this, far more than any petty advice you might hear from some stranger on SDN, will benefit you the most. I am not saying that all of the information here is useless; if it were, I would not be on here. I am simply saying that you shouldn't get bogged down by the wide range of oftentimes unsupported claims that many people make here. Again, do not come here looking for a magic method of studying. Make a strict study plan, stick to it, and always be driven by the end result: a career as a physician.
No practice tests (Kaplan or AAMC)
Kaplan diagnostics Jan. 2012 Score: 24
Attempt #1: 39Q (14P, 11V, 14B)
Highly surprised to say the least. I worked full time (>40 hr.) researching this summer (with an upcoming publication). I could not bring myself to study more than an hour a day (if that). But the last 3 weeks before the exam I started using the Kaplan MCAT cards with a partner (3hr, 3 days a week) and then the last two weeks I did ~5h per day doing the Kaplan section tests. I didn't to do anything that would give me a scaled score because I figured knowing would only make me cocky or damage my ego.
Good luck in you applications everyone!
31Q - (9/10/12). Higher than my AAMC average, which was a 28. Wayyyy better than my past writings - (26P 10/8/8) in March of last year and before that in April 2010 a 19P (7/4/8). It's been a long 2 years...so happy to be retired from this! Best of luck in all of your endeavors!
