Who's in? I just rescheduled from June 21st. I've been studying off and on since late march, but really started to kick it in about three weeks ago. Applying DO this cycle.

👍

I have 2 AAMC tests left (10 and 11) that I've been saving: one today and one tomorrow. I've been pretty consistent over the practice tests; even though I get more questions right, I still don't get a higher score because of the spread of the scaled scores I guess. :-( I hope the curve is nice on Saturday.

Does anyone know which are the more representative AAMC FLs? I read it somewhere here but I can't remember.

I took the test in 2010 and was close but no cigar...

just finished my last practice test, aamc 11. got a nice score. 11 on verbal but i really felt like i failed it, hopefully i wont void the exam on saturday because of uneasiness of a few questions

I've done decent on both of them, and found the real thing to be significantly harder (more challenging questions and longer passages) ... might have been just me though

my 5/19 test was very similar to aamc 11 except the fact that i scored 2 points lower on the real one compared to this. although i did have more time for practice before i took aamc11.

i feel though it might have been burnout which is why im gonna take thursday and friday off.

Nice score! How does it feel to be done with practice tests? 👍

Feels good! I wish I had time to take more AAMCs, actually. But I just think taking one today or tomorrow would do more harm than help. Especially if I were to get a lousy score on one, that would hurt the confidence way too close to the game.

Reviewing AAMC11 today and firming up the concepts I missed today and tomorrow. good luck all.

Woohoo done practice tests!! Feels so awesome 😀

AAMC 11 (ps/vr/bs): 11/12/11

I am soo thrilled with verbal! I've been struggling to hit an 11 and got a 12 on this last one - such a boost of confidence going in but I don't know if I just got lucky on this one...

Even though the science scores are both the low end of my usual range, I will totally take this score on Saturday! Please let me get at least an 11 on verbal pleaseeee

Just completed AAMC 11: 30 (10/11/9) (1 away from 11 PS and 1 away from 10 B)
Definitely a little bit tougher than 10, though I "felt" verbal was easier to read. Made some careless careless errors.

Awesome score, congrats!

Thanks! We're done practice tests yaayyyy! 😀 I am so glad, I was getting so sick of them haha. Now time to relax and rest, and let's get ready to kick this mcat's butt! 😎

Bah, I'm still doing 11 tomorrow. I'm reviewing 10 and concepts today. Didn't score very well on 10 due to stupid *** mistakes, though. That's how this process has been for me. Very unpredictable. It will all depend on the types of questions I get. I have a feeling I could land anything between a 27 and a 33.

Don't worry, you'll be done so soon! And I know what you mean...but I'm just so looking forward to this being over!!

Reviewing 11.... Careless errors are the bane of my existence. Omg these mistakes I made in PS today. If I don't make these kind of mistakes I am able to get the score I got on AAMC 10.

Whoa. Didn't know this place existed! =O
Just wanted to say good luck to everyone!

And to all those saying they are making stupid, careless mistakes I have a piece of advice: try to look at questions and ask what is the simple concept they are asking, often mistakes are the result of over-analysis. I got this from EK and it has helped me tons!

it's not so much not knowing what the simple concept is, but not really knowing what you were thinking when you chose a blatantly wrong answer. it happens all the time because either i didn't read the question fully or missed a key point mentioned somewhere. hopefully i can eliminate these factors come saturday, which is why i am taking today and tomorrow off from studying. got to give my brain some time to file and sort itself out 🙂.

That's a killer score. I'm jealous of that distribution. Congrats!

Spending today light reviewing strong topics. Gotta make sure my strengths are true strengths on saturday!

Glad to hear everyone's doing well 🙂
I'm actually a bit bummed out, retaking AAMC tests (for lack of any more tests - last time I did them was last year) and getting lower scores. I've noticed that my concentration starts slacking in the middle, but think I'll be okay... Verbal though, still haven't improved much and I just don't know what to do!!! 🙁

Also, not quite sure if I can ask here or if I have to move this to the MCAT Q&A - but can anyone explain AAMC 11's #31 to me? Not quite understanding why the second part of the correct answer is the way it is.

I took it as:

Work done by gravity will always be more than Work done by air resistance, because before you come to a terminal velocity the falling object is increasingly accelerating in the down direction. I would think that if work done by air resistance was greater than work done by gravity that you would be accelerating upwards. I don't know if that is what you are looking for let me know though!

the FORCE of the air resistance is small (work is Fd) in the beginning because it is proportional to the square of the velocity, and as the object accelerates from gravity, the velocity will increase until the terminal velocity is reached in which case the force of gravity is equal to the force of air resistance and the object is now moving in translational equilibrium (minus effects of wind etc).

since work depends on the magnitude of the force, the constant, larger force of gravity cause the work done by gravity to always be greater than the work done by air resistance, because like i said (and it seems you understand this now) the air resistance depends on the velocity.

or you can think of it in real life. if the work done by air resistance was larger than the work done by gravity, the object would be falling up, not down.

going to drive to the testing center now, its 40 minutes away. making this feel so much more nervewrecking!

Good luck all!!

I'm staying away from all things MCAT tonight and tomorrow, so that includes SDN.

See you on the other side!

aamc11 13/8/12

mehhh... the 13 was pure guesses... I don't feel confident but i'm going in with a different attitude this time. Just trying not to let my nerves let me make silly mistakes and choke up.

Good luck guys and have fun tomorrow... work through off my studying yesterday and today so I am doing flash cards alll day tomorrow and sat morning

Whoa just found this place and am writing in two days! Very nervous for it mostly because my scores on my aamc tests have been not up to what I want. I work about 8 hours a weekday though so I understand why I am haha I usually am only averaging an 8 on every section. Sometimes a 6 or 7 and sometimes a 9 or 10. My range is so broad that I have no idea how I'm going to do on Saturday which is very nervewracking

I am a huge second guesser though. I can always narrow down to 2 and pick the wrong one it seems. I went back in my biological science portion yesterday and counted how many I would've gotten right if I picked the alternate and my score would've jumped up from a 7 to a 10. So ridiculous and frustrating but I've been that way for my entire life unfortunately lol

If anyone's got some advice for me feel free to let me in on it haha I can use all the advice I can get

Congratulations to all of you that are getting amazing marks though! You guys are sure to do great on Saturday!

Almost at that finish line!

just wanted to say gl to all. be well and think positive. if you study and know you can do well you can make it reality.

Just wanted to say thanks to shaboobly and changebyforcep/b] for the clarification to my question.

And GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE! 🙂
We can finally start enjoying our summer in, give or take, 30 hours! Hope everyone gets a good nights' sleep and does something extraordinary!

ya i agree summer!!! i miss the sun 😎 don't get psyched out guys, everyone seems like they have worked very hard. the worst that can happen is a retake! just work hard and get through the exam.

Wish everyone the best of luck so we can all further our dreams! Especially to my fellow re takers, this has been a very long an frustrating path. LETS DO THIS!!

Best of luck to everyone. Just think, in a few hours you will never have to think of the MCAT again except to tell premeds shadowing you, "That test sucked."

I thought PS and VR were moderately easy, while BS was tough (I have 2 passages in mind, between which I guessed ~6 questions, and was not able to eliminate more than 1 answer choice.)

My prediction: 11/10/9

DONE!

I thought PS was fair. VR was fair-moderately tough (although I never know what score to expect here, even when it seems easy), and BS was surprisingly tough. Orgo light, as expected.

I'm SO happy to be done but I'm very disappointed which is unfortunate.

PS: Started out very simple which boosted my confidence and made me a bit more calm about the MCAT overall, but man did I struggle near the end. I thought there were a couple passages and questions that I had absolutely no idea and it took me too long to figure them out so I had to guess since time was pretty much up

VR: Thought that the passages were very fair content wise! I liked reading some of them actually haha as lame as that sounds. But I HATE that there were a lot of questions that asked for very difficult things to determine (hard to say what I want here without giving anything away). I find those questions very difficult. There was one passage that took me a while to do and I think I did okay on this but not as good as I hoped

WS: VERY happy with the two topics discussed haha too bad it's not looked at as much as the others haha

BS: Thought this was really difficult. There was one passage in particular that I stared at the screen and literally had no clue what they were asking at all. It was so complex to follow haha I'm happy how there wasn't that much on orgo though! I definitely did not do well on this section though which sucks because I have taken MANY MANY MANY bio courses including phys, histology and anatomy so it should've been easy.

Overall I know I'll be disappointed in my score though I really hope I am pleasently surprised. I had to do a lot of guessing because the time crept up on me (which has NEVER happened before so I don't know why it was on my tail during the actual thing)

Just out of curiousity, how do curves work? lol

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE!!!!! SUMMER HAS BEGUN!!!

I've been getting some really high bio scores and that section still thew me for a hell of a loop. Passages were very complex, I thought.

The curves are set based on difficulty. They are predetermined, according to AAMC site. Although I do think there is somewhat of a review process to make sure that the pool falls into somewhat normal distributions (otherwise scores would be available right away, right?).

I'm hesitant to say what I thought of each section, because how I feel never corresponds to how I end up doing. But, for what it's worth I'll share anyways haha...

PS is kind of a blur but from what I can remember I thought it went ok. Nothing too crazy or difficult, felt pretty similar to AAMC 11

VR was good I thought (although I never can tell...) but by good I mean in terms of the passage content - I thought most of them were easy to follow and somewhat interesting. Some of the questions were tricky though.

WS topics I was pretty happy with, but I hardly practiced for this section so I have no idea what my score will be lol. Oh, and I made up every example haha...

BS was hard! Definitely felt really difficult. I couldn't tell if I was just burning out at the end or if it really was super hard, but I think it was pretty difficult. There were a bunch of questions I just had to randomly guess on because I didn't have time to actually figure it out or I had no idea how to haha. Hope the curve on this section is nice!!

Overall, I'm pretty happy with how the test went - I guess I'll know for sure when I see my score in about 30 days! Hope everyone did great 🙂

Ya definitely agree with that. Sucks when you feel like it's your strongest section (well, know it should be at least) and then you find it the most challenging/get the lowest mark in it haha we'll see I guess.

And ok gotchya I guess that makes sense. Hopefully there was a curve for this one!

Did we all have the same test? I'm still new here so excuse my lack of understanding, but even if we live in different places are the tests the same? How do we know we're all talking about the same one lol

wow what the heck, that was a hard BS section!!!, PS science was manageable, much better than the first one I took, but got some wrong for sure due to time constraints. VR was my weaker section, and there were 2 passages I didn't really understand. So scared to get score back November, but Ill post it online even if its a 13L 🙁 🙁 🙁

Fuuuuck, bio was RIDICULOUS... ****ed up a few physical too, but at least verbal was really easy to me...

HUH7 should be named HUH #5 through 11...

PS: Harder than practice but reasonable for the real thing
VR: Same
WS: Easy
BS: So much harder than the real thing, nothing really could have better prepared me though.

That BS section pissed me off. I went in so confidently about BS and just got mad in the middle of the BS section. I couldn't even understand what some of the questions and passages were talking about. >.<

Anyone have any prior comparisons to old tests for the BS section? I took a lot of BS sections, and I found this was a ton harder.
