I’m so mad. They just posted my eval for my first rotation and I don’t even have a chance of honoring my IM 1 rotation and we don’t have a high pass. My stupid school requires us to make a 4.5 average or greater in any competency assessed to honor a rotation. And my preceptor put that I gave feedback to interns/residents/preceptors more than half the time (4) instead of almost always (5), which (in addition to my other 5 and 4) nets me a 4.3 in that competency since it only has three domains. Most of the other competencies I have solid 5s on, and I got beyond excellent feedback during this rotation from everyone I interacted with. Literally only got four 4s across all categories and competencies, but two happened to be in a competency that only had three items, so... :bang:

I’m not mad at the preceptor at all - I’m mad we’re supposed to be giving the preceptors, residents, and interns feedback 100% of the time. Are you guys constantly critiquing everything your preceptor/resident/intern does? Because, you know, I have a sense of self-preservation, and the person that does that is a jerk and is going to get a bad eval in the professionalism department for being *that* guy LOL

At least I have a chance to honor IM 2 if I do well on the comat, since all I can do is pass IM 1 now.

I've never given feedback that was not some form of "everything is perfect I really enjoy how much you've helped me grow as a physician yadda yadda" because I also have a strong self-preservation drive.

I feel you. I’ve had a couple passes even when they thought I would get honors due to them giving me two 4s in a 3 item domain, even if they were my only 4s. They read the top and thought 4.5+ average across all domains would be honors. And for a while at the beginning of the year I thought so too until my first eval grade posted.

Um, what? I don't critique my preceptor/resident, I wouldn't even think that would be expected. The only feedback I give is thank you or I appreciate you taking the time to show me xyz. I would never critique them, that is a weird competency.

Got a really good eval from peds even though I felt like I didn't do much the entire month.

Still don't have either of my surgery evals even though they were 2+ months ago....like, they probably don't even remember me by now

Yeah, either IM -> pulm/crit or rads. So it's extra annoying.

One of my preceptors also gave me amazing compliments, so I had really thought I was gonna honor this one.

Whelp Surg COMAT is done. No idea how I feel lol. Always seems like they leave out information or decide to use totally different terminology. Probably the most liberal I've ever been with the Flag button before.

First weekend totally off from cards and everything in two months. My COVID isolation is done too. I'm gunna go caving.

I wouldnt worry too much tbh! You have high board scores plus good evals/comments. Thats mad frustrating though. PCC and rads are great fields. Assuming youd be applying to uni/academic IM places

did anyone take level 1 comlex last year and have issues with rescheduling due to covid and their eligibility ending June 30th? I want to take level 2 it in June when I have dedicated but after the mess of this year I'm a bit nervous, even though I know things should be back to normal

I believe they extended eligibility too like USMLE. Knowing NBOME, though, they may require you to fork over the extra $15.

I wouldn't really worry about this regardless. Most testing sites are up to full capacity testing even now. I don't see there being significant issues by June/July of next year (hopefully). I registered for a June date during our dedicated.

Makes sense. Look like there are not any open June dates right now, Idk when they start scheduling though its probably super early. Nice to have everything paid and registered for though.

Does USMLE send out permits only when you’re within 6 months of your eligibility period start date? My eligibility starts on June 1 and I’m planning on testing in July but haven’t received my scheduling permit yet. I was able to schedule Level 2 in July as soon as I registered and there are open dates in July at my Prometric for Step 2.

I think we have to wait

No, I don't think so? I'm already scheduled for both Step and COMLEX and they're both end of June. I'm not sure though.

Edit: JK, just checked and my eligibility period was from 10/2020-6/30/2021, so I guess that's why I got mine.

My Step 2 email says Il receive my permit to schedule in a few days unless its more than 6 months. I'm just glad it went so smoothly getting everything together.

Also just want to say I love medicine. I'm just having a great time today working through my cards, it hit me in 1.5 years I'll be a resident and while that is terrifying it is also just so damn exciting. Hope ya'll are having a great a safe holiday.

Literally same.

Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you're doing well post-COVID.

Why are Comat results taking so long?! I took the FM Comat on 11/13 (Covid M3 makeup) and no results yet.
Might be your school. KCU said no one is getting COMAT results for last week until first week of December cause of thanksgiving.

Maybe. I was never sure what say they had in reporting. They don’t tell us we just get it off NBOME website. But I don’t know if they have the ability to release or hold release of scores, or see them first, or anything.

Whelp I cannot even schedule PE. Wonder if the news about CS will result in any changes.

I've accepted my fate that I will not match

Who would have thought that psych would be one of my more intense rotations works wise

Step 2 is scheduled, only 2 days after comlex. Hoping as we get closer more dates will open up and I can move things around, but just happy to have those solidified for now.

How many days between Step 2 and Level 2 are you all taking for OMM study? I did 4 days between Step 1/Level 1 and thought was more than enough. I still need to schedule and am just trying to get an idea for timeline

I have 1 right now, I’d like at least two. I def took too much time between step1 and 2

I have a week right now because I'm not sure how my school is doing 4th year stuff yet so I have boards scheduled on Saturdays but otherwise I'd be doing 2-3 days in between the two. I think 2-3 days should be all you need to cram OMM.

I am taking Step on a Monday and COMLEX that Friday. I had 4 full days in between for Step/Level 1 and thought it was a bit too long, I was just so done after Step 1 haha. But I think 3 days will be better-- one day to do nothing right after, a day and a 1/2 to lightly brush up on OMM. I honestly would've done Monday and Thursday but the site only had M/F available every week.

COMAT score where are you!?!?!?!

I think I am going to do comlex first again this time around. I feel like it worked alright last time, did better on step than Comlex which is the goal and was able to treat it like a practice test. who knows though

108 on surgery, I’m still a failure. 5 points below COMQUEST prediction.

but maybe a future in derm????? 🤔🤔🤔

108 is still really good. honors is 111 for you guys right? kcu?
112 I believe, just a really frustrating. Though maybe I’ll get closer and closer with each block and pull off an honors in IM.
