I emailed the admissions office yesterday and asked them if there was any update on the interview process/admissions and this was their response:

We completely understand that it is difficult to be waiting at this point
in the cycle. Know that we have all the items we require from you and our
admissions committee is attempting to get to as many applications as
possible. We plan to interview into mid February. I hope this helps!

I don't know if this helps anyone but I just schedule my interview today with ECU and got the email yesterday for the invitation to the interview. Hopefully I still have some chance to getting accepted; however, I know they have selected a lot of the class already! Good luck to everyone!

What makes you think this? Did they mention this when scheduling the interview?

Does anyone know how many people are accepted and if they later your interview is the worse chance? and what are the DAT scores of the people accepted..mine are low compared to the average but all the other requirements i have are average so anyone have an idea on my chances..17 AA on DAT

Here's the link to the fb group because apparently there have been some issues with searching for it, but I checked the settings and it's set to public settings. I'm not the most computer savvy person on the planet so if there's something else I need to do please let me know.

You know im not sure! haha I just kinda assumed but I guess I shouldn't do that. I know its a late interview so I just figured they may have accepted x amount of people already, but maybe not. I am apart of the facebook group I believe.

Why would you join the Facebook group if you still have to interview and haven't been accepted? Usually the group is there to help accepted communicate with each other.

There must be a separate facebook pages, they have a general page that you can subscribe or like to see updates and stuff, I thought that's what they were talking about.

If you want to know the stats of all the admitted students in the class of 2015 and 2016 including GPA/DAT, look at ECU's website. All information is made public.

D1 here. Thought I would add my take on things because I remember coming to SDN every day last year in hopes of new info.

The "continuing interest" email. This is my opinion, of course, but I am pretty confident that it is just a way of asking if you have committed to another school yet, either officially or in your mind. The more students they have voluntarily taking their name off the table, the easier their decisions will be. I received this email last year, along with several others, basically asking if I had chosen anywhere else yet. Needless to say, I hadn't/didn't. 🙂

As far as acceptance dates, unfortunately ECU just does things its own way. I interviewed late October, got continuing interest, got wait listed and a few days later was accepted on March 8. I have classmates who were accepted just days after their interview. One got a call the week of Christmas (during University holiday). Long story short, there is just no way to know when the call will come. It is very tough, I know. But hang in there.

To answer the question about interviewing "more than 50 people." There have been 6-8 people interviewing several days a week since late September. So definitely more than 50. 🙂

I noticed that the 2017 Facebook group linked in this thread only has 3 members. At this point last year, ours had 30+. Might be a small bit of encouragement? Also, be aware that once the class is finalized, the Office of Student Affairs will create a Class of 2017 Facebook group for you all and add everyone to it. Just FYI.

fermez- Thank you so much for the information! I had one question if you don't mind. Do you remember how much you were in contact with them after December 1st until the day you were accepted?

I interviewed with ECU back in October. I have sent them an email with an update on my fall grades, my status with other dental schools and that I was still very interested in ECU. I was about to send an email asking about my spring semester classes but I don't want to be too pushy. For the last year and a half I have been following a plan that ECU had suggested to improve my application. For the first time, I've hit a huge snag and I cannot get into the spring classes they would prefer. I wanted to know what they would like to see now because I don't want to do anything that could negatively impact my application at this point! So I was asking in general how much you contacted them but also, do you think it would have a negative affect if I contacted them too much?

My pleasure! I did not have a whole lot of contact after December 1st. There were emails here and there, but usually only in response to ones they sent me, like "continuing interest."

Obviously I don't know the specifics of your situation so don't give too much credence to my advice. That being said, though, I would just do my best in the classes I had. At this point I don't think you can hurt your application too much. As far as contact goes, just be sure that when you contact them it's for a good reason. Not just, "hey, when am I going to hear something?" All of this is just my opinion--trust your instincts! You've already done the hard part. Hopefully you'll get good news.

Wow, thanks for giving us all a bit of insight. That's wonderful to know! I guess I'll keep the fb page up a little longer but if they'll be putting up one of their own, then theirs not much point.

That was just if there was something missing in your application file. He couldn't find my bio prof LOR so he called me back but then found it so I was ok.

I interviewed yesterday and it was great. Very comfortable experience and met some great people. Just playing the waiting game now!

I emailed mr lowery yesterday telling him i was still interested and what my status was... he emailed me back today and said that most of the spots have been filled. so i guess im heading to Chapel Hill!
