***The Official Harvard Class of 2019 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

Hey so I got an email from Harvard saying that my application was complete but I didn't see Harvard on AADSAS under School Decision. Is that normal or anyone else is the same?

It's been said a lot that Harvard doesn't use AADSAS for notifications. So I'd venture to say that it's quite normal

wow this thread has been soooo quiet! has anyone heard from harvard or gotten any interviews lately?

I assumed that Harvard was done giving out interviews. They only interview around 109 total (according to the 2014 guide), and when I was at my Penn interview in mid-October, one of the other applicants was talking about her upcoming Harvard interview.

probably not...the timeline from their email says they interview until February.

I also don't have them on my AADSAS, yet. I submitted by application in mid-July.

Got an interview!!
I actually missed their call because I was at another interview... then called them back repeatedly and nobody answered. My roommates suggested it was a prank  but nope, it was real  I'm interviewing Nov. 13th.

My stats: GPA 3.67, science 3.62
AA/TS/PAT/Reading/QR: 24/22/24/29/22

I've done research for a few years but nothing really impressive... But I am an international student, so to the other internationals who lose hope before trying, don't let anyone tell you it's impossible! 👍

OMG congrats!

I am an international student too, and I just want to ask you if you have any work experience at well recognized institutions or company. Cuz i have been working as a private tutor not being able to get a job becasue i am holding f-1 visa.

Any advice??

Thanks a lot!! and congrats again!

Seemed like this thread was never going to get made, so I thought I'd take the initiative .
I'm an incoming D1, so any questions you have about the application process I can answer, questions about the school..well can't answer them yet because we haven't started.

Good Luck to all those applying! 👍

I'm a dental student, that post was made before we had started classes.

I can't believe it's been a year since I've been in your place, waiting to hear back from schools. I'm the 2018 class president. I wanted to say congratulations to those who have been notified of acceptance and let you know that I've established a Facebook page for you to meet each other and ask questions of the 2018 class. I'll be adding people as I'm notified by Admissions and a link to our page will be included in your Welcome package.

Again, congratulations to those of you who have been notified of your acceptance and good luck to those waiting to hear. I look forward to meeting you all.

@grandslamsam do you have any advice for those of us who got this email that no decision has been made? do we still have hope or is it just a delayed rejection?

My advice: stay patient. I know the wait can be grueling and eat you up on the inside BUT there are still many spots remaining and the admissions office is very diligent with the entire process. Best of luck!

Are post dec interviews handed out at this point? It doesn't seem like they are.

Got the call for an interview at 8:30am this morning! woo! so stoked! woke me right up and couldn't fall back asleep 🙂

congrats!
when is your interview date?
Thanks

Hi guys! I just got invited for an interview at Harvard earlier this week. My interview is for Feb 6 to answer the question above^.

I was wondering if anyone on here knows what date exactly school starts at Harvard, or when it has in past years. I havent taken calc II yet, and now that I have this interview opportunity, I want to start looking into whether I should be taking calc II during the winter or if I can squeeze it in over the summer.

Thank you!

Got my denial lettter, no surprise though haha

@mkuiper , did they send via snail mail or e-mail? I heard back in the day their snail mail rejections were actually so well written, you still felt good lol

Yeah I got it via snail mail as well. At least they let you down easy haha, then again I applied on a whim anyhow, figured maybe they would want a normal boring midwesterner like myself, but then again i'm not an outstanding student, nor do I do research.

Hi I interviewed Harvard at the second week of November. I got an email on Dec 1st saying they didn't get to my app in time and they will let me know in the next 3 weeks, but I still haven't heard anything yet.... Is there anyone who interviewed around the same time got updated from them?

Hey all,

I'm an HSDM alumni (class of 2013). I know now is about the time you all are receiving your letters - congrats because I remember how much I put into my app and how much it paid off!

Now for a reality check: come here if you know you want to oral surgery or a specialty. If you want to do OMFS, this is heaven. You're with the medical school for 2 years and you have to actually take a very similar test that the med. students take for entrance into an OMFS program.

HOWEVER, what you might not know is that you literally learn about 10% of dentistry the entire time. You are slaving away in med. classes, trying to memorize every protein in renal physiology while your counterparts at other schools are learning actual dentistry in pre-clinic. I'm telling you, you better REALLY LIKE medicine, or else you're going to hate the first two years of "dental school" here. In addition, the dean is an oral surgeon and has a clear bias for the profession... so he could care less if you "just want to be a dentist" or any other specialist and you start complaining about how you're just in med school all day.

That being said, we are NOT treated like second class citizens (like at Columbia) since we actually do more than the med students - we take their classes PLUS dental classes. And THAT being said... we don't have pre-clinic... so if you're thinking general dentistry STRAY FAAAARRRR AWAY. I promise you, your state school will certainly suffice. Aspiring specialists who are willing to suck up the medicine should come here too since we truly do have a really high (~90%) match rate and that DOES NOT include GPRs. HSDM has a lot of connections with program directors (since most speciality program directors are alumni of our school). Also Pass/Fail is a huge plus 🙂

Btw, be prepared for some MAJOR DEBT and questing the value of your education... if you think 400k in loans is worth a ticket into any specialty, pass/fail, and not learning general dentistry, this is the place for you. DO NOT COME FOR THE NAME - no one cares what school you went to when you're looking for associate jobs.

Think ahead into your future and set your priorities. And think about your DEBT!!! I sure didn't and am sorely regretting it...

So I noticed that Harvard only interviews through February (usually) - seeing how it looks like the school doesn't reopen until the end of Jan, and Feb interviews have been posted... is it safe to assume that if you didn't get a call by now that you're out of the game?? 🙁
