Got the letter today. No communication from them since I submitted my application and check back in July. Almost one year ago.. damn. So did everyone else who never heard from them finally get the letter? Lets all share together the non-love from Temple. 😀

They just rejected me after I turned down their offer to interview in November.

Riiiiiiiiiight

I got a rejection letter and I never even turned in my secondary. Temple: I rejected you in August...you can't reject me now! 🙂

I just got my rejection letter today as well. I was complete in July...lol..I cant believe that was almost a year ago..

not yet received...it'll probably come tomorrow🙁

Got a rejection letter yesterday. I don't even remember APPLYING to Temple hehe. IF I did, I didn't turn in the secondary. Whatever...

They rejected me as well....after they lost my application (per phone call confirmation). How do you loose a completely online-submitted application? Ask Temple.

In addition to the letter from Temple, I also got a nice rejection letter from Jefferson within the last week. Completely forgot about this school too 🙄

That is hysterical. Sorry, I know it must completely suck for you, but it's really funny.

LoL! There's actually a thread for this? I got rejected by Temple (finally) when I got my waitlist from UMass. I'm already into a top 50, I wouldn't have gone to Temple over them anyway. Besides, it took them forever to get back to me!

I want to know if Temple is as bad as everyone makes it. I'm familiar with their pharmacy program because of my UG institution and it isn't talked up, but rather talked down among my colleagues. Is it even worth applying to Temple if I'm applying to the other Phila schools? (Drexel, PCOM, Jefferson, Penn(Hopefully)).

It was my understanding that Temple is better then Jefferson and Drexel- Of course people on here will probably disagree with me. As for Penn State- no idea, unless you are talking about UPenn which would (obviously) be the best of all the schools you mentioned. PCOM- That's DO right? No idea about that either.

Yup finally got that rejection letter on Monday. Seriously it takes them a year to reject you? I can only imagine what their staff looks like (one lonely old woman with one working eye under a broken lamp reading applications).

Got the Temple rejection yesterday. My collection of official med school letter-heads is almost complete.

I just got an email after I logged in to check my status (because of this thread). It says I'm on the "continuing candidates" list. Is that the latest euphemism for waitlisted?

I've seen this on many other places, including mdapps, even by people who are applying to these schools. Quick primer on the PA med schools;

* University of Pennsylvania is in West Philadelphia. It's correct nickname is "Penn," not the popular (but incorrect) "UPenn." I'm not kidding - call it UPenn around a senior from that school, and prepare to be corrected aggressively.

* Penn State's med school is in Hershey. It's a slight distance away from Penn State, the undergrad campus. It is not nicknamed "Penn," because that's really reserved for a different school.

* I've heard a lot of derogatory jokes about Drexel, (which used to be MCP Hahnemahn), which I think is due to its financial troubles a few years ago. It's a good school, with 2 different tracks (one is PBL, the other isn't), but is notorious on SDN for its lousy admissions office.

* I don't know if Temple is considered as "better" than Jefferson. It hasn't been, in my experience anyway. (Note: I go to Jefferson.) It's certainly more expensive, and is located in a...sketchier...neighborhood. (Although it's not so bad that you shouldn't go to Temple just for that reason.) It has a different curriculum - organ system based, I think.

Bottom line: Go ahead and apply to Temple if you want to stay in Philadelphia. It's a good school, although a bit expensive.

Thanks a bunch. I agree with you on the Penn debate. No one around here (USP, Drexel, or Penn) calls it UPenn. When someone says that, I cringe. I've just heard a lot of bad rapport for Temple so I wasn't sure whether or not I should strike it from my list. Of course, further research is needed. If they were put head to head, minus the MD or DO degree, would Temple or PCOM win out? (Facilities, Professors, Placements, etc)

I just got my Temple rejection too, and I'm still waiting on Jefferson...

I also have yet to be officially rejected from NYMC, Rosalind Franklin, and Mt. Sinai. I called the schools about a month ago, and they all said interviews were either over, or ending middle-end of April.

Yeah, if by "a slight distance" you mean "a two-hour drive." 😉

I too just received my Temple rejection this past weekend. I wasn't as surprised as some of you since I took the August MCAT; I just assumed they had filled their interview schedule by mid-October. I can't believe people who were complete in July didn't hear until now!

I still haven't heard from Jefferson--there must be something in the water in Philadelphia.

not only did i get ONE temple rejection letter, I got two. I live in NY and when I turned the envelope around to open my mail, attached was a rejection letter addressed to a student from ARKANSAS. I dropped the letter off at the post office and asked them to "return to sender or to correct address." yay temple!
