They just moved it again to Feb 4th 2PM. Has this happened in past cycles? Will it postpone match day (I truly hope not)
If I am able to find out anything about it I will update you all here. They just moved it again to Feb 4th 2PM. Has this happened in past cycles? Will it postpone match day (I truly hope not)
Choose 1 by April 30Question: Do Texas schools abide by the AMCAS traffic rules?
For example: I am accepted to a Texas school that I would love to attend. I am also accepted to an AMCAS school that I would love to attend. Do I have to decide if I want to attend Texas vs elsewhere by April 30th or can I hold onto both of these acceptances past April 30th?
All MD schools are reflected in AMCAS for traffic rules. So you will need to be down to one on May 1st. You can continue to hold any waitlists.Question: Do Texas schools abide by the AMCAS traffic rules?

Is that a happy or angry outburst?AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Match results come out tomorrow morning at 8 as you should know
same question hereI just got matched into a school. Logistically, what's the step to take now? The website is just showing me the message: "Congratulations! You matched into..." with no other buttons or anything. Maybe will I receive an email?
Literally in the exact same boat. I do have a 1-on-1 meeting coming up with one of my OOS schools that I got waitlisted at where they tell you what went wrong, so I'll let you know next week if they drill the CARS score hard or something else.Post-match day results, went in with 3 Texas II's, no match. Obviously devastated, atp I am starting to prepare for reapplication. That being said, I am honestly lost on where to start, and would greatly appreciate some advice.
I think one of my weaknesses was my CARS score. My MCAT was 513 (130/124/131/128), with a 124 in CARS barely passing the 10th percentile for most schools. I took it last April, received my score in May, and debated retaking but ended up applying with it anyway in hopes that my EC's and essays would make up for it. Since I didn't match, there is the chance of moving to waitlist and getting off of it, but if I am going to retake, ideally I'd need to start preparing now and take in early May in time for when applications open. But also, with 3 II's, I'm wondering if my MCAT had much impact towards it?
Additionally, I acknowledge that I didn't make the smartest decisions when submitting my applications, which could explain my lack of a match. When I received my score in May, I deliberated for a longgggg time about whether I should apply this current cycle or not. This led me to submit my primary applications in early July (so on the later end of most applicants) and I also pushed off my secondaries towards September/October. I also planned on applying very broadly (in TX and out of state) earlier that year, but circumstances over the summer led me to strictly only submit secondaries at TX schools. That being said, I'll definitely be smarter about submitting applications on time when I reapply.
I guess my main question is, what advice does anyone have for reapplicants? I understand that I need to definitely take some time to re-curate my essays and descriptions, and I'll be wise this time to have people read over my essays. But, if anyone knows, going in with II's and no match, what do you think is the biggest reason for no match? I thought my interviews went fine, but I am also greatly anxious and can sometimes ramble. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
sorry it didn't work out for you in Texas, do you have other options OOS?I wonder if TMDSAS gets the data from its member/owner med schools as to how much $ schools rake in from OOS applicants after the Texas med schools (other than the one in San Antonio) shoot off their secondary invites, ghost people for almost a year, and never bother to follow up with even a mass form email R letter? Probably enough to pay for all the TMDSAS zoom videos with assorted AdComms pontificating on how much they value manners, thoughtful conduct and how medicine isn’t all about the Benjamin’s… and definitely enough to up the production value for those barely intelligible videos with TMDSAS employees wearing wigs and pretending they’re students asking questions. Again, more impressive hypocrisy from medical schools that nearly all also insisted upon CA$PER.
I do, thanks. I feel for those who do not though, and I hope all the US med admissions systems can do better. Professions that eat their young are not sustainable and medicine has already taken a huge credibility hit in general over the past years and this is not helping it at all. Thanks and best to you and everyone involved though who aren’t callous, hypocritical grifters.sorry it didn't work out for you in Texas, do you have other options OOS?
This is a great idea! One of the counselors at a TX school gave me in depth advice on how to improve my app after the first time and I took it to heart.Literally in the exact same boat. May I ask how you were able to set up a meeting with the school?Literally in the exact same boat. Some of the TMDSAS schools hold reapplicant workshops - search for Texas Tech El Paso, they are having one in early March and if you register early enough they have time to give you specific feedback on your application.May I ask how you were able to set up a meeting with the school?
They offered it to anyone who was on the waitlist by email; it's with the University of Oklahoma.May I ask how you were able to set up a meeting with the school?
Aww, don't worry, this was me a few years ago too.2 II no match. Spent the whole morning crying felt like my top choice interview went very well and the interviewers said they would love to see me at the school... How does the waitlist work and how do we increase our chances of getting off the waitlist? Im unsure if I should send a letter of intent. I am waiting for one more oos to see if I got accepted but wondering if I should just send a letter of intent before hearing back.
I’m in your exact same shoes and I can’t speak to the questions you asked, but just wanted to say I feel your pain. We’re all in this together and I know it sucks right now but we’ll get through this!2 II no match. I'm right there with you! I've been telling myself that its not over until its over, and even then reapplication is always an option. The road to an MD is long and challenging, but I know the end product will be everything I've ever dreamed of, so that mentality helps me keep moving in the right direction!I’m in your exact same shoes and I can’t speak to the questions you asked, but just wanted to say I feel your pain. Two questions first-I know TMDSAS says that on April 30th applicants with multiple offers must withdraw from other programs and decide what program to attend, and then May 15th schools cannot make offers to people with another seat, but how does this apply to someone with one seat at one Texas med school and all other waitlists?
Does it mean I have to accept my one seat by April 30th, but I could get another offer off the waitlist before May 15th, and withdraw from my current choice to attend that one?
Hi - your match school is now your one and only school, so accept it according to their instructions.Howdy! For people sitting on a Match Offer (no pre match), should we accept that offer now on the school’s offer decision page if there’s still a chance we move up our Match list? Didn’t know if accepting the offer is binding (ie removes you from all other schools) or if accepting the offer is something we need to do to avoid losing the spot. Thanks!
Hi - your match school is now your one and only school, so accept it according to their instructions.
Match Day was the end of your uncertainty.
If you ranked any other school higher than the school you matched at, you could move up to them from a WL between now and May 15.
Yes, I matched into Texas, one school, and I have no OOS interviews or acceptances. Two questions first-
Did you match in Texas?
Do you have OOS interviews or OOS acceptances at this point?
OK, so at this point you have your Match school and this is now your "one and only" school.Yes, I matched into Texas, one school, and I have no OOS interviews or acceptances.
And the April 30th deadline is just to accept the match offer, that isn't binding and I can still take offers from my weightlist before May 15th?OK, so at this point you have your Match school and this is now your "one and only" school.
Follow their email instructions to formally accept the offer and other things they may ask you to do.
This will be the school you attend, unless another TMDSAS school you had interviewed with offers you a place off their WL before May 15.
If this happens, you can take the new offer, or stay with your Match School. The choice is yours.
Please double check with your specific school on the deadline to accept their offerAnd the April 30th deadline is just to accept the match offer, that isn't binding and I can still take offers from my weightlist before May 15th?
Normally, the date to accept the match offer will be much earlier than April 30th and the school will tell you that date. If one has OOS acceptances, they can keep those until April 30th and they have to decide by then whether they want to attend one of those OOS schools or matched TX school. And the April 30th deadline is just to accept the match offer, that isn't binding and I can still take offers from my weightlist before May 15th?
This is a very specific circumstance and I think you should best email TMDSAS or message them in your TMDSAS portal to ask.I am under the growing assumption I may have to reapply I was waitlisted in the match. I am in a unique position since Im currently active duty military stationed in texas(been here several year), and will be separating from the military this summer. If I move out of texas after the cycle am I still considered an in state applicant since I will have been a texas resident for over the minimum amount of time and active military stationed in the state? Or would I no longer be considered in state?
I sure hope you’re right. I think there’s a fine balance between optimism and being complacent. He should start thinking about reapplying and hold hope in the back of his/her head imoThis may be the optimistic side of me, but I personally would not assume reapplication just yet if you got waitlisted.
Keep in mind that after May 15th, schools can only give acceptances to people who DO NOT have an acceptance at any other TX school. That means anyone on their waitlist who has an acceptance is removed from consideration, so that will bump up a few people.
If you do want to prepare, my biggest advice would be to reach out to schools and see who will give you feedback. Some schools will, others won't, it just depends.
I was almost in your same shoes my first app cycle. I know it sucks and I’m sorry you’re going through that. 1st- like everyone said there’s still the chance of waitlists. I would move forward with the plan to reapply and then if you get off the waitlist you’ll be happily surprised. If not, you’ll be prepped for the next steps.Post-match day results, went in with 3 Texas II's, no match. Obviously devastated, atp I am starting to prepare for reapplication. The TMDSAS WL things are usually wrapped up by mid to late June. If you already started orientation at your other school that would be your “too late to switch” landmark.@wysdoc hello!! I have been accepted to a med with orientation late june and class start july 1st OOS. How would this work with tmdsas waitlist as i am waitlisted at plfsom. How should i navigate this in the event I get off the waitlist later in the cycle. Do you think that its likely given past cycles.
Could you explain a little bit more about how you went about this? Was it a counselor at a medical school in Texas or undergrad advisor? This is a great idea! One of the counselors at a TX school gave me in depth advice on how to improve my app after the first time and I took it to heart.
