Well, this would be a good thread for me because I am interesting in not only dentistry but also pharmacy. Anyway, I will introduce myself.
1) I am a Korean guy and am 27 because I had to serve military service.(If you can avoid that F**king military duty, please don't do it. You might gain nothing but get all beautiful germs all your body, especially athletic's foot)😀
2) I am still a single because I hardly see Korean woman and some of them are mean to me.👎 I have been living in Jacksonville in Florida almost 4 yrs.
3) I am living with my parents because I am a poor.👎
4) I am attending some classes at local community college because I am F-1 student and cannot support tuition. people say an international student.👎
5) I hope I am enjoying my rest classes and transfer a 4 yrs college.
These are my states and here are some questions for you guys. I want to be a dentist or a pharmacist because I respect their professionalism, and I will not worry about getting a job wherever I live in the U.S. But, as I stated above, I am neither an U.S citizen nor a permanent resident. I got so many problems, which come from my state. I seriously have not started my major but finished math classes and some English classes. I think getting a permanent card is a big issue, and I have to wait for it almost 5 years from now on. <-- I applied it few month ago. Suck!!👎 Now my current GPA 3.37, and it does not good at all. 😱 But I have a huge possibility to pull My GPA up and think positively for my future classes. I have not found many dental schools. However, most of them are very strick for foreigns. I do not know why. I guess they do care some financial issues. Yep, that is true. Waitting for 5 years will be painful to me. But there is no choice. Is there any person who had similiar state as mine got into a dental school or is trying to go to there? If so, then please share your infos. I know most of them are U.S citizen and don't have English problem. You guys are awesome. I am so glad that someone started to help each other on this Korean thread, and I hope you guys give some tips how to get into a dental school. You have best luck! Any korean students or Asian comments would be appreciated.
My problems:
1) English as second language <-- my English is suck..

Wow, you're in a pretty difficult situation. I believe that everything becomes much more easy to get if you really work hard at getting it. That said, since I am an American citizen (non-Korean asian), I cannot comment on your nonresident status. Here's the basics of getting into dental school, prioritized:

1. Do well in school (especially the sciences--biology, chemistry, physics and organic chemistry)--then do well in the dental admission test (DAT)
2. Get some dental-related experience (by volunteering/working for a dentist, a dental lab, dental research, or dental school)
4. Know some professors well (to get recommendations)
5. Apply early (through AADSAS)

We're all racists to a certain extent. When we meet people that are different from us, we form opinions about other people/group of people with some resemblance to the previous people we met.

Unfortunately, due to upbringing or other factors, some individuals are more opinionated than others. We cannot necessarily blame them. However, it's always good to bring about changes, to educate people to change their ways.

I think u shouldn't even try to become a doctor. Maybe u can go to Korea and take care of korean patients while I treat all the patients equally.
and what do u mean I make other koreans look bad? the racist like u make korean people look bad. Those who only care about the patients from their country but not the others is definitely racist and won't respect patients from other countries.😡

This is the reason why white and black friends of mine all say that they don't like to go to Korean dentist office because they are racist.

and GMU is George Mason University (top4 basketball team from last year, rememer?😀 )

I am sorry that I put your school's name incorretly. Where is GMU located? Virginia or George? I heard it before, but I am not familiar with the GMU basketball team. Not offensive. I support University of Florida.. They won the final NCAA championship last year, and the football team is also very famous as well.👍

I know that most korean students like IVY league schools. There are many reasons people apply to a big school. Here is a question. Do you guys know how many korean students are currently studying at any IVY league school? I believe that some of you are doing there. Most IVY schools are very competitive, and how you guys can deal with financial aids. Give some infos, and if you guys do not mind, share your states. Happy hoilday..

i know....being rascist is as bad as a race traitor. people who join those clubs want to show pride. saying asian pride means you have pride in your asianself. saying american pride means your proud to be an american..Would think thats rascist to others thats not an american? you probably grew up in americasmostrascisttown or something because saying "koreans are so rascist" means everybody else and you are rascist.

Anyway I never go to Korean meetings. That's for Korean people who want to hang out with Korean people only because they can't make friends with other race. That's like another type of racist meeting. If u are aware of how many people in my area hate Korean people for hanging out by themselves, care about themselves but not the others, talk loud and make noise here there, it's so embarrassing. Even the principle in my school sent out the letters to all korean students saying be quite at school, it's really embarrassing.



and Korean guy like snapple59 has no manner at all. He is a new member here, and all he can say to the senior member who was here for long time and helped others is "Don't become a dentist" and use all the inappropriate words in this site that I've never seen since I joined here 1 year ahead of him. What is that? He comes to the SDN and try to stop people from becoming a dentist? and he still wants others to see him that he is a very nice KOREAN guy? is he missing common senses? No wonder why my friends hate Koreans because of these examples. Is being rude to others your KOREAN WAY to convince others? How can you still not generalize and say they are rude? I can already generalize from this small thread and witness this rudeness! It even makes Korean guy like me to hate my own race.


Koreans are so rude. If u think koreans are not bad in general, try to think of how other races see you first, instead of asking where do korean people go or say let's go to Korean meeting and think that korean meeting gives u such a high privilege over others. I bet that's the reason you talked about Korean meeting at the first place.

Joon, I'm sorry if you feel like this is a racist thread. But it's really not. They were just curious about where people of a particular race are going to school. You probably think that this type of information is unnecessary and shouldn't even be asked, and I'm sorry if it makes you feel uncomfortable. But really, they mean it in a nice way.
