As did I, such a great feeling!

Declining my acceptance. Going to my #1 choice instead. I'm confident that given LECOM's missions and goals, you will all be trained to be excellent practitioners. Good luck

Did anyone that got the favorable position email get a response? I've still gotten nothing.

I got the email that said high hold, and got the acceptance email on friday! Congrats everyone!

Still havent heard anything. I received the favorable email, but DID NOT receive the high hold email..... I hope i am still in the running. my admission status still says "under review".. who else is in the boat??

I also received the high hold email wednesday and was accepted yesterday. Good luck to everyone

I am sending my recent transcript from graduate school. i hope that will get me off the wait list.

Hey guys, I gave up my spot, hopefully one of you will get it! My bf also gave up his spot. Good luck!

Has anybody who got the accepted email last Friday received the "formal letter" we were supposed to receive in a week or so?

i received mine 3 days later (received phone call on Dec 17) and I'm all the way from Houston, TX

I got the call yesterday that a seat opened up, but declined the offer.. i hope someone waiting who really wants the spot gets it! good luck everyone!

So I have a quick question about this school. I have seen rumors that this school may not have financing available for students in the first year and that it is a common to be asked how you would fund the first year if you were accepted. I have an interview next week and I honestly have zero idea how I would answer this if it came up. I mean, I would maybe consider the military route but outside of that I have no clue. How did some of you answer this question?

that only pertained to the inaugural class 2016. not 2017 and They do have financing available and they are not gonna ask you that.. school will ask you generic questions. check interview feedback

Oh that is good news. Thanks for the update. Did you love the school aznboi? I am a little hesitant about going to a new school and the clinical rotation seem a little odd. I would hate to have to move after 2 years of dental school.

honestly I am really nervous about PBL and how it would help me prepare for part 1 and part 2 board exams. I think I would have to put in more effort than traditional lecture-based school students but if thats what I have to do then thats what i'll do. The school is brand new and you start using handpieces day 1 which I like. Yes the relocation idea seems bad but it may be a good thing since you can live somewhere else if you dont like bradenton. Every school has its weakness and we just have to make the best of it.

All things that I am nervous about as well. I also hear that specializing may be a little difficult coming from this school? is that because of lack of prep for the boards? What is the basis for people saying that? Thanks for answering all my question by the way.

PBl is just 2 years not 4 years lol. Specializing is difficult because the dean doesn't release your grades (he said this) and if you really insist on specializing then he might release it to you. Again, my goal is to be a general dentist so that doesn't bother me. USC got by just fine with PBL as students pass their boards. I just dont want to spend my time figuring out what to study than do the actual studying...

The dean said that this is a school built on making general dentists...that's why he made a pass or fail system of grading. However if you ever decide to specialize during your time in school...he will be able to provide transcript grades when you apply to a program. He said if you know you want to specialize right from the statt then this school may not be for you.

Though I am sure you won't have a problem in this school if you want to specialize because I believe it's the individual that determines how to make the education suit their needs when it comes down to it

The PBL system has worked so well for the DO branch. Last year or the year before...they had a 100% pass rate. So this system must have helped somehow

It may have worked well for the DO branch but they are already making changes to the PBL at the dental school. I asked a friend that is currently enrolled if he is learning a lot and his exact response was "not really". This was a red flag for me.

I heard many opinions from both sides...but I still feel like the school has a potential to grow....especially since it is a new school..it's not perfect.....it has its pros and cons like any other school

although lecom focuses on producing gen dentists, does the program allow us to go through rotations to experience the specialties??

I am wondering about that as well. I remember them telling us that they would refer out complex cases if we cannot treat in house. Maybe next year they will begin to hire more clinical faculty.

Oral surgery cases are referred out, as specialty cases can't be handled in the school.

Does anyone know or at least have an idea of how many spots are still open for this class?

What do you all think about how the program will have more emphasis/clinical experience on dentures instead of implants?

Predents wouldn't know for sure. This is a question you'd ask admissions.

Withdrew my acceptance. Good luck to all.

Interviewed on the 11th. I was accepted the 16th. So happy! Not 100% sure if I am going to take the spot yet; waiting to hear from another school. Does anyone know about housing options for LECOM? Last year they handed out housing pamphlets, this year they didn't.

At my interview we were given 2 pamphlets..one location was about 1-2 blocks away and the other was a bit farther. Check craigslist for listings in sarasota/bradenton area..also on the fb group ppl are talking about finding places

The actual interview part (6 Interviewees 2 interviewers) of the day was last? After the PBL discussion, aid and campus tour, correct?

i have been accepted into my #1..so i will be giving up my LECOM seat ( $2000 😡)

I got my certiphi email today
