Hey guys! Now that the new test dates are out, I figured I'd start a thread for all the January 2018 test-takers prepping for (and most definitely, slaying) this beast! 😉 This is a retake for me, but I'm aiming high! Who else is taking it in January?

I'm sure that sharing insights and support on SDN will make this journey all the more worth it. I have a feeling 2018 is off to a great start! Good luck everyone and may the odds be ever in our favor.

If only I knew what the essay prompts were, I'd write them over spring break.

Use the prompts from last year, you can find them in the 2017-2018 School Specific Discussions thread. Some might change, but you can probably get most of it done before you apply.

I see. Thanks. It looks like they don't change too much from year to year. I already have my personal statement done, but it'd be nice to get the secondaries done too.

I felt awful about C/P, relatively less awful about everything else. I don't know, this is my score expectation:
124/123/126/127. We'll see if my prediction is accurate. CARS has just always been a ****show for me regardless if I feel good about it or not, so I don't have high expectations here anyway.
The CARS I experienced felt like some type of sick joke, passages were interesting but the questions were so effing hard. I feel as if I spent 5-6 months studying only c/p and b/b and looking back...tbh that is about 90% true haha. I'm gunning for my state school and USUHS so I don't need a super high score but being in the ballpark of my FLs would be very nice.

Anyone else kind of wish they didn't tell anyone that they were taking the MCAT/when the scores would come out? I'm silently freaking out over the score release tomorrow, and I know I'm going to have friends/family/coworkers asking about it. One of my coworkers even found out about the AAMC twitter so I know she'll be refreshing that all day with me! While I'm so happy that everyone is rooting for me, I'm also scared to disappoint 🙁

This is me!!! I currently teach at a school, and I had the principal asking me the other day when the score would be coming out. I even had some of my students asking me how I performed when I haven't even told any of them lol!

I’m pretty antsy waiting for score release tomorrow... The first time I took it was the August 24th, 2017 test and i absolutely bombed it. I was working full time as a nurse assistant plus retaking some classes so I did not study nearly as much as I should’ve. This time around I used Varsity Tutors, read through all the Princeton Review textbooks and even retook Physics 1 just to review that portion of the test.

I felt like the Jan 25th test was the easiest one I’d ever taken (did AAMC FL 1-3 plus Kaplan) and some questions felt like I was taking basic hs chem and bio. Some posters did mention CARS had interesting passages but tough questions and I agree, but that’s usually my best section. It’s been a month since the test so I’ve forgotten lots of it but I felt like I should perform the best out of all of the ones I’ve seen. I did put in 10 hours/day for the last three weeks though, and I studied for about four months pretty strictly plus 30 hours of tutoring.

I’m really really praying to see a 508 in ~25.5 hours...

My dad is in town (he works in the mid east full time) my gf is also on spring break from optometry school, they both want me to cast my laptop to the TV when I get the scores so everyone can see lol. Yeah it sucks haha

Lmfao literally how my parents are. I think I’m stressing more over disappointing them than getting a lower than expected score which would suck for my applications. Brb blast porn from your laptop and on to the tv right before switching over to the aamc tab. That should take the initial shock off should it be below your expectations.

Hahahahahaha well that's an idea!
Might just rick roll them...

Thinking about doing an hour of cardio at the gym and then immediately going into a 220* steam room. Y’all think I’ll be dehydrated enough to just pass out in there and wake up tomorrow? I don’t think I can handle another 17 hours of waiting and probably won’t be able to fall asleep. I’m 24 and graduated almost three years ago. With retakes and everything I’m only at low 3 GPA so I need a 508+ for DO and some MD schools. It’s stressful to know that if I don’t apply for the 2019 school year then I’ll give up pursuing medicine.

If you pass out in there you might never wake up

Getting so nervous for the Jan 25th score release date! I ran out of time in the chem/phys and CARS sections. Did anyone else run out of time? I literally have no clue what to expect for my score.
I literally used the very last second I had to guess the last question which was so stressful

When I checked my scores the first time back in September they released them at around 12 pm ET. I remember being at the dentist for two cavity fillings and my heart sank when I saw that score and a minute later the dentist walked in so I didn’t really process it a whole lot.

I’m boarding a plane and leaving the country on vaca as soon as I get my score. I figured if it’s great I’ll be on cloud 9, poppin champagne. If it’s not I’ll be on cloud 9, drinking champagne. Either way I’m blowing this popsicle stand at 11am - 12ish EST time! Goodluck to all of us!! Approx 11-12hrs to go!

Nice, where are you going?

I got a fine score that doesn't require a retake (as I only plain to go to state schools). But, alas, not sure how I think. My psychology/sociology only has 128, but, oh well, I have a doctoral degree in that field from a top 3 school in my field...... I have a lot of explanations to do on my application....

129/126/129/131 515.. was hoping for better but hey with a 4.0 I should be alright I think. Congrats to everyone!!
Surprised you didnt score higher tbh but that's still a really good score!
