**The Official Minnesota Class of 2017 Interview/Acceptance Thread**

Check these two threads out and see what ya think.

a member on here named "cleanup" posted last year that his status changed for the UMinnesota to Check back on dec 1 a week before. He had also interviewed there. I followed his posts to see what he posted on Dec 1 and low and behold he recieved an acceptance. I also knew someone else that interviewed at minnesota last year and his status remained unchanged or "under review" he didnt hear back on dec 1 and got rejected later. So make what you want of it. It sounds like good news but I would just wait 3 more days to get the offical good news instead of getting your hopes up too high and maybe not hearing anything. Good luck all.

Here are posts by Cleanup from last year.

Not looking good for me atm lol.

I still have "invited for interview" as well. If I don't get accepted Monday or told I'm on a waitlist is that the death sentence??

Offer made! (check your AADSAS Mobile!)

Congrats to everyone😀

Hey don't worry I've been researching the people that have offers made and alot of OOS accepted had early interview dates or extremely high gpa 3.9+.

I think they are doing the first batch of acceptance based on date of interview but will also pick out the very high stats people from across all dates.

Inb4 my theory is dis-proven by lower stats and later interviewee getting accepted on aadsas mobile.

BRB in denial

i know a friend that is OOS w/ high stats and still got "invited for interview" status on aadsas. I hope that waitlist goes thru fast since its expensive for OOS.

Haha yeah I think we have been wait-listed or rejected or no decision made basically everything except acceptance lol

I'm international and had an "offer made" but i have a loooooooooowww GPA, so not sure if your theory is entirely true. I did, however, have a high dat, maybe that balances out?

For those who got an offer, what does your status on the main AADSAS page say? is it check back on Dec 3rd? I did not check my mobil before they fixed the glitch. Any feedback is much appreciated.

Beware, OOS tuition is not only hideous in this school but is hiking more significantly compared to other schools

Yes I did realize that, and that is one big factor I will consider between schools. When I was at the interview i think the handout said around 59000? Does anyone know how much higher they plan on increasing it to?

59000 is tuition alone without books and supplies which is 8k from what i remember. Also add on the 7k summer semester 🙁. Last years tuition was 7k cheaper with 53k for year and 8k for summer. This is almost a 11% increase (shocked when I did calculations). Worst thing is I have a feeling this hike is gonna keep going. Comparing this to other schools where like midwestern they told us its 5% increase every year for their school which I reckon is closer to the national average.

Yea, but generally as Canadians its all really expensive for us and costs tend to hover in the same range, unless its USC, UoP or something.

Buffalo appears to be the best cost for Canadians, from what I know.

I an international too (did my undergrad in Canada so I understand your situation) but I was referring to the anticipated hiking of the tuition which from the trends is quite significant at this school. I just don't want to be in my 4th year and have to bother my parents for money because of the tuition hike.

ya the oos tuition scares me- but they do offer a handful of scholarships for oos that lets you pay in state tuition! I wonder... do you think it's possible to get in state tuition after a year if you have a spouse working in the state for a year?

for those of you had an offer on the mobile portal...

is this still the case? or did they fix the "glitch" as someone referred to in an above post?

It is possible, but there are no guarantees - I have been warned its a major uphill battle at MN even though it is my home state. It is a judgement call from the residency office. Things that will help your case are, working in MN on breaks, changing your drivers license, car registrations, and any other permits or licenses to MN, buying property in MN, breaking ties with your previous state, family roots (such as your spouses job or kids in school).

If I end up going there, I will be doing everything I can to get instate after year 1, because the OOS is ridiculous IMO. The lady in the residency office is not very nice or helpful though, so I don't see it to be wise to plan on getting the in-state designation as part of your decision making.

I think they said it was 2 people selected out of all the OOS for in state tuition. I'm international and I highly doubt they would choose me 🙁. Probably will choose an American citizen is my guess.

At least we can agree on something lol.

Do they historically give them to American citizens? I asked about this during the interview and they said they were pretty sure anyone OoS is considered. But a preference to American citizens would be a bummer I guess.

Also, does MN call or is it just an AADSAS update/email?

AADSAS back to 'offer made', has anyone gotten an email or call yet?

Just received a call a few minutes ago. My dreams are coming true and to top it off I will get to pay in-state tuition.

Does anybody know when they offer these two OOS scholarships? Is it when the offer of admission is sent out, or after matriculation?

I'm not too sure but the Iowa in state tuition scholarship is offered with the initial offer. Most scholarships are offered with the initial offer no? But not too sure, should call and check and let me know lol

Someone got the in state scholarship. Theres one scholarship left

I am OOS and got the in-state scholarship as well, she let me know when she called this morning!

Did anybody else get an acceptance email but not get a call yesterday?

I still have "invited for interview" status on AADSAS. Is there still a chance for acceptance/waitlist offer? I'd be heartbroken if that's not the case.
