****The Official Nova Class of 2017 Acceptance Thread****

Nope, the admissions committee usually meets on wednesdays and acceptances given out wednesdays to fridays.

Since today is friday im assuming no sdners got the call this week?

Do they still hand out acceptances only from Wed-Fri? I'm anxiously waiting...and I need to hear back in the next two weeks 🙁

Could it be that they wont meet until next week wednesday?

Next week is spring break so maybe after spring break.

Class is full, so we just have to wait for people to drop out. Does anyone know the date they notify schools that people are holding multiple spots?

Oh no... I believe its not till april 15th when the second deposits are due! but correct me if im wrong... So sad..

Has anyone who was accepted dec 3rd receive any mail from nova with updates, financial aid info, first day of class, uniforms, background chk, etc... I only received an email a few weeks ago requesting proof of residency but that was it. By when are we supposed to receive more info??

Thanks

Have been on waitlist since Feb, any news ? Anyone else on waitlist and they got back to them?

Hey! im a second year dental student at Nova. Im looking for two roommates to move into my condo a 3br/2 ba. Its all tile with furnished living room and dining room area. Pet friendly. 2 min from Nova. Right next to Publix and shopping centers. Balcony with view of the pool. I got a really good deal on it so rent is SUPER cheap ! $430 for one room and $435 for the other (definitely the cheapest youre gunna find in Davie). If anyone is interested that got accepted already send me an email [email protected] 🙂 If in the area we can set up a time for you to come look at it.

Received the phone call today from Dr. Lippman with my acceptance off of the wait list! Thank you to those who withdrew recently, I am positive that I filled that slot. Best of luck to you all at whichever school you have decided to attend!

Interviewed in December, wait listed in January.

I also got a call from Dr. Lippman yesterday, and still can't believe it. I am so excited to attend!

Congrats to all of you! I believe there are about 5 seats left. Im still keeping my fingers crossed to be called 🙁

Congratulations! Look forward to meeting you as well.

Waiting on my acceptance package, but to those that received it - does it mention what laptop you have to buy? I know the site says a Nova specific one, wasn't sure what they outlined for it. Thanks!

I found this website to be pretty helpful for our class of 2017:

As for the acceptance package, I have yet to receive anything--but I was only accepted in January. I thought I read somewhere that we were supposed to get our package after everyone had paid their second deposit (April 15t). Not sure how true that is though.

I know a lot of people at UF use ipads and so do people at Nova but, you do need a laptop. At the above website there is a pdf called orientation check off, inside it states the requirements for the "Nova specific" laptop. A couple of my friends at Nova said almost everyone there has a Mac tho.

Hope this helps 😀

YES! You are incredible, thank you.

Hi, Anyone here gets acceptance without a bachelor degree?

YES! You are incredible, thank you.

Well thank you 😍 you're too kind. (I'm secretly just a nerd and research dental related stuff! hehe)

BTW is anyone else so excited about our mascot?! I mean it can't get any better than a SHARKKKK!!! I'm going to buy so much shark stuff ... it may be scary! lol

I'm not exactly sure how many we are supposed to collect. I took some containers around to local dentists and oral surgeons offices and so far I have collected a 13 oz spaghetti sauce container full. There are a lot in there, probably a couple hundred BUT a lot of them aren't useful.

I'd say collect as many as you can from now until school starts. That's what I'm doing. I collected a couple teeth from a dentist that was a Nova graduate and when I told him I was entering my first year he said I was ahead of the game and that he didn't start collecting them till his second year. I'm not sure how much as changed since he graduated a couple years ago though. It can't hurt to have too many teeth but could be detrimental if you don't have enough.

Yeah, from my understanding you won't need extracted teeth until D2, but it is always advantageous to get started on things. They're helpful for things like root canal practice on actual molars rather than on plastic. But, that being said, I'm totally going to the dentists I shadowed and handing them my old sour cream container and begging for some teeth 😉

EDIT: Take it back, re-read what we are getting these teeth for and it is for the dental anatomy course, D1. Still might need them later for practice, but that isn't why we are getting them currently.
