*** The Official Nova Class of 2019 Interview/Acceptance Thread ***

I agree, and I'm not trying to devalue the importance of an interview, but it sure seems like Nova is interviewing a ton of applicants. When I interview, I would like to do so knowing that I have at least a 30-40% chance of gaining an acceptance. I don't think I've seen a single person that was waitlisted on Dec. 1 get accepted. Maybe there are people that have been accepted that just don't use SDN.

I understand man, I'm in the same boat as you! I do know at least 4 people that got off the wait list and also there were some on SDN too. I wouldn't lose hope till it's over.

Good luck to all of us!

Believe me, your not the only one that is frustrated and losing hope in this admissions office at Nova. I interviewed pre-dec as well and have been wait-listed. I have called a few times and they give you a different answer every time. I have spoken to a staff members and they say different things about seats being available. I don't think they're allowed to tell us but there is definitely a ranked list for people on the waiting list and we are obviously not on top of that list. People have interviewed after me that were placed on a waiting list have recently posted that they got an acceptance like 2 weeks or so ago. So obviously there is a list but they don't want to tell us. Why else would we not get a call for acceptance if we interviewed before them and were wait listed as they were? I have showed great amount of interest and continue to check on my status but nothing has changed. I was in love with this school but during this process and the lies from different staff members, I'm starting to dislike this school more and more everyday. Have faith in GOD and he will guide us
I can not write better than u did agree 100% with every word you wrote here. Feel the same !!!

It's about that time I begin opening my DAT books again lol. Probably the best way to put that indeed

I just spoke to admissions office, and asked them a few questions about the wait list. She first tells me that Dr. Lippman sent out all the acceptance for the week, and we have to wait until April to possibly hear something from them. I then asked her how many spots will be available according to previous years, she said she doesn't know. According to previous thread by someone earlier in the week Dr. Lippman told them most likely about 20+ or so. I asked her how many people are on the waiting list, She tells me "A COUPLE HUNDRED PEOPLE ARE ON THE LIST". Is she kidding me about this or could this really be the case? She then tells me don't lose hope and keep checking in. LOSE HOPE? After hearing that, I don't know if I could keep hope in this school. To top that all off, she tells me that they are still interviewing through the first week of March. WOW. The only thing keeping me from getting depressed is faith in GOD.

Interviewed in January and got waitlisted a few weeks after. Dr. Lippman said before our interviews that there were over 200 applicants already on the waitlist. We just have to wait I guess. Best of luck to everyone waitlisted...!! We're all in the same boat.

Funny thing about what you just said is if people get interviewed March, watch those people STILL GET IN!

Don't tease me and offer me an interview if you're not gonna even consider me for your school. I called admissions 4 times, sent Dr. Lippman a letter, left him a voicemail, even left Zarrett a voicemail and I haven't gotten a single reply back from any of that. Treating me like I am nothing to them and then praise me if I get in and thank me for applying to their program. Its all bull**** and pathetic the way they handle people trying to improve their future. At least call me back and let me know if I really have a chance to even hope on all this.

Just as a friendly heads up, you may want to hold back on trying to contact them so much. There is a point where it becomes annoying overkill.

I agree with you, just be cautious and don't come out as annoying. Keep in mind though it's not annoying or an overkill if you write something meaningful that will add to your application.

I share the same sentiment with your guys about them sending out so many interview invites.
When I went to the interview, Dr. Lippman yappered about how we are all very very qualified, and this interview is just a formality and we are just around the corner from getting an acceptance, and blah blah. Getting our hopes up and stuff.

Then, they put most of the interviewees on the waitlist, not only that he keeps interviewing to see if they can find applicants that can trump all the waitlisted people.

I thought he was a straightforward and honest man, but his words aren't worth a dime.
If I get a call from NOVA, that would be called a miracle.!

I'd rather be told to be hopeful than to be told we have dim prospects of entering. I see it as a service than a disservice truth be told. But I understand the frustrations, in my last cycle I didn't even get an interview. I was rejected to all dental schools I applied to NOVA included. We are in a much better boat than those who received outright rejection letters which are in the hundreds if not thousands. I think I'm going to take a step back and relieve some stress...

Hey I need some advise from you guys. I have been wait listed to NOVA and NYU, but i can't just sit and wait another 3-4 months for an answer. I have BA in biology, so i was thinking about getting my masters and re apply for 2017 cycle. Do you think that is a good idea? and what should i get my masters in? I have been searching around, there are just so many options and i am confused. Any advise would be appreciated.

I think that's a solid idea. My 2nd time around I did a Masters in Biomed with 4.0. You want to kill it with 4.0s so they will notice you. Worked for me and got 2 invites so far.. I did the non-thesis route and I will finish this semester. Good luck!

I think those of us who are indefinitely waitlisted are approaching the time where we should think about what to do to improve our chances of getting in next cycle.
The thing is, if we want to do something significant enough to boost our chance by a lot, i.e post bach or masters, that will set us back another cycle, because we will not have our grades by the time they send out invites and acceptances next cycle, so we will be hoping to get in for class of 2021, not 2020.

So, doing post bach or masters is probably recommended for people who really needs a serious boost and they know almost for sure it's unrealistic to get off the waitlist this cycle due to their GPA or DAT. And, post-bacc and masters can backfire as well if you don't commit to it fully and do mediocre or even poorly.

Having that said, I don't think I will do a full blown post-bacc, but I will continue to take 1 or 2 classes while working so I can show them that I can do well in upper level bio/chem classes.
I am afraid that my DAT will become too old if I don't get in next cycle (or this) because I took it in december of 2013.

that is true, but it feels as if he just outright lied to our face that we have great chances of getting in if we are there to interview, while he was having second thoughts on almost all the applicants and decided to interview a few more batches of applicants to trump us all. Sure, interview opportunity is great, but if the interviewed/accepted ratio is abysmally low, that really doesn't do good for many of us. We just spent $500 for almost nil chance of getting in.

If they want to be selective, they need to be selective when they send out invites and then weed out more during the interview process.
This whole application process seems unreasonable.

Can yall tell I am having a nervous breakdown? lol

But i do sympathize with you about Dr. Lippman because he did give that vibe off at the interview.

As I was standing up about to leave his room after interviewing with him he told me "Alright, nice meeting you and we will be giving

Yea, that's true. There should be at least 15-20 people still deciding to file a deposit or not I am assuming, plus the 20 seats supposedly opening up april. Keep faith!

I just called dr lippman and he said the deposits are due by next week and we might hear from them later on. He said there are over 300 people on the waitlist. He already knew my last name but he said i am not sure if i can get to you or not, we will see. Should i be worried or happy?

Did all of you receive "high value" waitlist letters?

Yea I did, don't know what that means through. However, I've seen people here who got low wait list or it just says wait list on their letter. Idk what this means!

waitlist of 300 people is a lot to go through.
Who will be those lucky 20~30 people!

lol I think you guys are over reacting, and stop worrying too much! Just be patient, wait and have some faith, not too much though. At the same time, I think it would be wise to come up with plan B!

so my question is, is everyone getting high hold waitlist letters and are there now 300 high holders?? I thought it was around 60 or so high holders judging from previous years threads....

Everyone on the wait list is a "high hold" candidate and there are hundreds every year.

Got an offer! Does anyone need a housemate?
