Hey all! I am signed up for this date. 8:00 a.m. Yikes!!! I am aiming hard to make 40+ my reality so hence me making this thread so early. A former lab- mate and current medical student had a ton of MCAT prep stuff she gave to me. So I have the Examcrackers set, Hyperlearning set, regular Princeton Review, audio osmosis, and practice MCAT tests from a variety of sources I also do the MCAT questions a day through email and on my phone (to help with super quick recall). I am officially studying legitimately now. Currently starting with Examcrackers. I'd love to hear from you all doing the same. Let's do this!!!

Most GP was telling me when he took it about ten years ago there was a number you could call after a specific date to get your scores early. Apparently he was hunting with a few buddies and his mom called and let him know that a letter arrived and he could call at that point to get his score early. He called and was so shocked and happy (he had an agreement with MCAT/GPA with his state medical school) that he went back into town and celebrated. Must be nice. You would think it would be easier now to do something like that than earlier but no dice.

People of SDN a good old one derived from one of the greatest minds in history to explain standardized test!

few more days!!!

I'm excited for you all! I wish I was in this part of the experience with you guys as well (minus the stress lol but I don't think that's possible) but I hope no one has to retake this monster of an exam and you all get into medical school. Just three more days and your future steps will be determined!

Well guys, I'm taking the exam on Jan 10th... I feel scared because I don't know if I'll improve. Next week is dead week and the week after that is finals week. In fact, I'm worried my science scores will be lower because I haven't studied much at all this past month.

Guys I really need some insight...

Worth waiting if you aren't going yo be ready
When is the last day u can change or cancel? U need a full length before that date to decide if u are close enough. You will have to factor in the amount of both stress and studying leading up to it, but no other way to tell.

Worth waiting g and retaking the 2015 version if it means u get a better score and are generally more prepared

the 2015 version will be unknown and Brutal, use the winter break wisely and study smart ~

But poor unreflective score on a slightly less brutal test (think diminishing brutalness, if you will) vs a doable score on the new test that you will have more time to study for

a 7 hour test with a whole new unseen and pretty arbitrary sociology/psychology section is by no means more doable !

I'm not saying it is going to be easy but it doesn't change the fact that if you are overworked and do poorly, it won't get you in regardless if it is the easier 2014 version or not.

Yes it will be tougher, but I don't really get how anyone can say its not doable without ever trying. Its just new. Yes the newer will be relatively rougher because its the first time you have ever tried it but nobody is ever good at something the first time they try it. I would rather spend 3 months more studying for the new test and get a good percentile rank vs being incredibly stressed about the current version and getting s poor score. then you have to take the new one anyway.

Take a full length before the last current version you are signed up for. If a range of -2 to +2 is not a range of acceptable scores to you, then don't take it.

Agree to disagree. I don't really care.

I know that i was wondering was email faster

Not sure. Your email should be linked to you AAMC account so you would think they would come at the same time... But then again you wouldn't think a completely digital multiple choice test would take this long to grade either.

lol I know, right? I keep going back to the fact that they've known our scores for weeks and have been keeping them from us.

I still can't think of a logical reason beyond they want us to wait so we hopefully fall into a lower refund category for any future dates or fall out of the refund range altogether

Doesn't it say Dec. 9th?

Also 5pm EST is 4pm CST...so not an hour later.

Wow I can't read dates or times. Now I'm just paranoid that they changed it since I looked at it a week ago or so lol.

And I meant (at the time of that post) just over 1 hour UNTIL 5pm EST, not an hour later

Dang I really thought the scores were today. I have been freaking out for nothing.

Same situation. What's your plan if your practice tests aren't around your goal score? I can't see not taking it or taking and voiding knowing that its our last shot at this exam before the 2015 one begins with all its uncertainty.

Honestly, I agree with @baxt1412. The 2015 test can't be impossible or this whole MCAT testing as a way to determine your admission into medical school would be unfair. I think although it will seem more like a brutal test, it will have an easier curve for sure... that way it will be standardized and comparable to the old MCAT.

Don't be scared to void in my opinion if you don't think you did as well as you could but at the same time I know it will feel like you're being cheating because you have been studying for this test for so long (I say this from expereince). Basically, unless you are absolutely sure that you didn't do well and that you can do better on a 2015 test, void your test. But if you don't think you can improve, don't void it because everything has an end at some point. Everything reaches a plateau...

Honeslty the worst part of this whole thing is that I'm wont be going to my uncle's glam wedding (I'm indian)... This better be worth it because I will throw a tantrum if not haha

Yeh I see what you are saying. I do think in the end it would be very difficult to void the last opportunity to take the old mcat. The new mcat will certaintly be more difficult b/c noone knows how to prepare for it and it has other additional difficult topics on it such as biochem. Why did you void your previous exam? How could you be sure you did so bad given the numerous people who think they did bad only for it to turn out that they didn't...

Physics was definitely a confidence booster (fake grin) but that wasn't the reason I voided because I had a hunch that others would probably think it was hard as well. Verbal was the reason I voided because I knew I did badly on one passage and guessed the entire last passage. That and the fact that it overall seemed relatively easier than practice tests made me posiitve I would end up with a 6 or 7 at best. Therefore, I would end up retaking it anyway. Biology seemed fair though so the reason I voided was solely verbal. At the same time... I don't know if I will ever improve. If I can get an 8 in verbal I'll take it with open arms honestly as long as the other two scores are above a 10. My physical scores were 11-12 and biological was pretty consistently 10.

Have you voided your test before? I think I might be the only one in this forum thread who voided their test...

I just got back from my cruise. So my incredible distraction from this hell is gone. Now im bracing myself for a 20. I felt decently about it, but my past shows that's always a bad omen for me.

Commence freak out. And i have to fly today.

If anybody is planning to drop their MCAT seat for any January date please let me know.

I should have posted but a whole bunch of seats for Jan 10 and 8 were open yesterday. I got one for Jan 10 in the second best location. I would be on the look out tomorrow, that's when people on this thread are getting their scores.
