Right. I don't have an in state school- that's why I'm drawn to NYU and UNE in particular

I have an interview scheduled for Feb 29. Any idea how realistic it is to expect an acceptance with an interview date that late?

Good luck. you will have 2 interviews: one with a faculty and one with an admissions officer. They are both very chill conversations and open file. So be prepared for questions regarding what you have on AADSAS. Hope you get in!

So after interviewing, do they not straight off reject you? Do they just accept you or put you on the wait list ?

For my interview, I think she was referring to interviewees who were with me that day. But I'm pretty sure they review people on the waitlist as well so I'm expecting a lot more acceptances on that day? But who knows. Seems like there are ppl who got accepted yesterday and some today..

Don't lose hope, almost 80% of applicants are placed on the waitlist b/c schools also understand that you are applying to other schools as well. It is a waiting game, which is the hardest, but if keep in contact with whoever you interviewed, it can help you get noticed. Don't keep contacting them so that it gets annoying, but every once in a while with updates on your end as well as if there are updates on their end. Keep hanging in there!
Remember if you are not flat out rejected you are still in the game.

Keep your head up -- I was bombarded with like 5 rejections on February 2nd. That fact that you are waitlisted means the battle is not over. Focus on whatever you are working on in the moment, whether it be your job, school, hobbies, to make yourself the best applicant should you have to apply again next year (worst case scenario). Keep in mind though, send genuine letters of interest emails and make the schools refresh your file every so often. It makes a difference - don't think that just because the interview is over that you still can't fight for a spot. Good luck, you got this.

Thanks! The SDN community is what reinforces my hopes and I really appreciate that, I will work hard to become a dentist!!!! 🙂

Congrats to both of you!! Did you guys receive an email saying that you guys will be placed on waitlist a couple days after the interview?
I interviewed last week and just received an email saying that I'm put on waitlist...🙁
And one more question for you guys. Are you guys from the area? or out of state?

I did not get that email. This is the first I've heard from them since my interview.

I'm from Rhode Island but I don't think it matters because it's a private school

I never got an email after interviewing until the acceptance email. I'm from California.. Keep your head up! Waitlist is not a rejection so you're still in the game. Good luck!!
 
Received my acceptance letter today at about 11:30AM CST. Could not be more ecstatic.

After 8 years of work, 2 degrees, and 3 app cycles, let's just say many happy tears were shed today. 🙂

Be yourself, stay calm, and answer honestly. The interview layout is very laid back, so there's no need to be nervous. Best of luck!

It's my only acceptance so far so yes at the moment! I'm wait listed at two other schools so if taken off I will have to really think about the programs should it come to that situation.. How about yourself?

recently interviewed at two places, was hoping for a good news from either.

Yesternday around 3pm, received the waitlist email from NYU. Funny thing is I ddin't receive that email during the day, but around bed time, that shxx popped up on my notification and I was like "great NYU, thanks for the good night" It ruined the entire night and entire work shift.

I mean, my interview didn't go 100% as I had hoped, but I was hoping to get an acceptance. My interviewer seemed like a straight to the point, douche kind of a guy, but it wasn't terrible terrible.
Oh well, there must be something else that they look at.

After this waitlist decision, now I feel even more insecure and will have to get ready for LECOM interview, which I do not anticipate will yield me a spot right off the bat.

My head is filled with "FML"

I remember reading somewhere on here that if you genuinely wanna go to nyu like call them and say it's your number one and maybe write a heartfelt email/letter on why you wanna go to nyu with concrete reasons and how you would be a good fit and they tend to definitely consider that and it's possible to get off the waitlist

The facebook group has about 180 members right now; some however aren't new students, so the actual number could be lower/higher.

I have an interview on March 1st. What should I expect from both the faculty and staff interviews? I know that they are big on why NYU so any suggestions? Dress code? For the photo does it have to be professional passport photo?

The interview with the staff should be more like conversational, so you don't have to worry about it. The informal interview is just to check if you have completed the pre-requisite courses. The interview with faculty is more formal. For me, the interviewer asked me about 15 questions, and overall it was very serious. Be prepared to face the worst situation.. I wasn't really prepared for that kind of pressure, so I ended up getting waitlisted.. It really depends on who your interviewer is, though. And yes, why NYU question will def be asked, so you should do some research on the school programs, such as outreach opportunities, honors in research, etc. For dress code, wear formal suits with a tie. My passport photo wasn't very professional, I wore white shirts and black sweater. Good luck on your interview!

Thank you and I'm sorry you got waitlisted, I hope you got an acceptance somewhere else. Your interview seems more intense than the typical NYU interview! Do you mind sharing what kind of questions they asked?
