***The Official NYU Class of 2020 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

Yeah sorry. Thanks for clarifying. Interviewed Friday February 26 and accepted via email March 9.
For those who were wondering, my stats are subpar but I think I showed significant perseverance at both my interview and correspondence letters (academic updates, letters of interests and letters on intent).

GPA: 3.18
CDAT: 22 across the board

So is it safe to say that we wont hear anything from NYU all next week?

Friend who interviewed yesterday said they'd hear back in 2 weeks, but spring break ends on the 20th for NYU.

Has anyone accepted on March 4th received the acceptance packet yet?

Just got the waitlist confirmation email from them stating that there will be movement in the month of April.

Interviewed pre-dec

I interviewed on 2/25 and was waitlisted on 3/4. I also never received the waitlist email. I'm guessing they are going in order for students who were waitlisted earlier in the cycle.

soooo... for those of us waiting to hear anything after recent interviews (week of feb 29th- march 4th) can we hope to hear this week, or still not until after spring break?
has anyone who interviewed that week heard anything at all?

They are definitely there this week FYI. I called and spoke to an Admissions Officer. I was placed on the waitlist and had some questions. From what she told me, admitted students pay their deposit next week and they will know a week or two after. She also told me spots were still available and they are only interviewing three days next week and then they are done. She was very helpful and informative. Sometimes it helps to just call and ask questions. I did not have a good Q&A experience because the Director is new and very unhelpful and since Dr. Mejia is so helpful, I was looking forward to meeting her. But the students on the tour were very helpful on asking my questions about the curriculum and dental school itself. So I wouldn't suggest calling and talking to the director, talk to the admissions officers or Dr. Mejia if REALLY interested and curious about your waitlist status.

interviewed on 3/3 and accepted today!
GPA: 3.5
DAT: 21 AA / 22 TS
interview felt good

Does anybody know how strict of a deadline the deposit on March 25th is? It only gives me 4 days...which I don't feel like is enough time. Could I call/email them about this? Also, has anyone in general been successful in getting deposit deadline extensions before?

Once the 2nd deposit is due tons of seats will open up as plenty of people put down the 1st deposit as a safety net and back out (regardless of the $1,500 price tag).

Does anyone know how many people are on the waitlist?? and did anyone call to find out there position on the waitlist??

Hey guys, what are some places I can live in if I am willing to travel to school? As a canadian who will be paying extra because of the conversion rate, I rather spend less than 1200 a month on rent if possible.

Goodluck with that....it's manhattan.

I know Brooklyn tends to get a bit cheaper but its further out.

Do u guys think that it is practical to walk from 990 apartment (near empire state building) to school? It is about 20 min walk. I think it is not bad but I have never lived in NYC so I am not aware of traffics and stuffs.

You'd probably end up taking the subway rather than walking 20 minutes everyday... You could even invest in a bike, but idk what you'd do on rainy or snowy days lol. Everyone usually uses public transportation. Busses, subway, cabs (rarely), etc.....

I am from up North so snow is not a big of problem. But I guess it is uncommon to walk around NYC. Thanks for suggestion🙂

Nooo, its common to walk in NYC, but you're probably going to want to find a quicker way around the city... Subway is your best bet

Thanks! The reason why I was looking into those buildings were because I found couple rooms that are under 1000. But if I need to use MYA then it is around 1100-1200 which is common price for rooms in NYUCD area.

Which is why I said I'm willing to travel. It doesn't HAVE to be manhattan.
Brooklyn gets to be on the cheaper side but only if you go very far out, so I would try Queens personally. Astoria (Queens) would be ideal because it's not too far away by subway, and if you have a roommate I'm sure you could find something for that price.
