****The Official Roseman Univ. Class of 2017 Interview/Acceptance Thread****

A word of advice in general about the application and interview process. Just calm down 🙂 and don't spend all day on student doctor. There are better ways to spend your time than getting paranoid about which day your interview is. The Post Dec. interviews are not any worse than Pre Dec. If you are good fit for the school and you like the school, you will hopefully find yourself in the right place next fall. Best of luck and don't stress too much😎

I am interviewing Nov. 9th. PM me if you will be interviewing that same day!

anyone going to check out the new scheels that opened this weekend when they are there? I heard it is basically a mall!

Just got an email invite this morning for Roseman. I called back at about 4:15 MT and got an interview that just opened for 10/12! When I called I found out that I actually missed an invite phone call they gave back on 9/5.
I am excited for the interview, especially since I grew up only 20 minutes from there. For anyone coming in from out of town for the 10/12 interview, make sure to go check out the amazing colors in the mountains right now.

For those who got interviews... could you please share your stats and if you are in-state or OOS?

Mine is in my signature if you havent already noticed

GPA (science, overall) 3.58, 3.42
DAT (AA/TS/PAT/Reading/any section below a 17): 22/23/21/21/none
I'm a resident of WA.

read up on the interview feedback forum on SDN. they have 8 feedback so far. it give you a good idea of how its going to be like.

I am excited for the interview tomorrow! Anyone else going in tomorrow? To answer a few questions from the forum..... from what I understand it is generally a laid back interview process, introduction, team activity and a one on one interview. Regarding the essay, they did it last year but I haven't heard about one so far this year.
As far as my stats... I was in the 5th batch, I am from UT (which Roseman says doesn't matter since they are private, I just don't have to buy a flight!), GPA (science, overall): 3.06, 3.09. DAT (AA/TS/PAT/Reading): 20/21/23/20

No essay this year. Interview day was long but enjoyable.

The school is unique. The interview was ok. I like the block system. I do not like the cost of attending the school. It appears to be the most expensive of all of the schools I'm interviewing at so I think I'll pass (assuming I am accepted elsewhere).

The estimated expenses they gave us were about 418k total all expenses. The tuition alone is 61k for this coming year and estimated to increase 5% every year (as it did last year).

Compared to UoP (the only one of your list I applied to) it may not be cheaper after considering living expenses but I have yet to received their estimated costs (hopefully I'll be presented one at the interview).

The school is interviewing on Friday every 2 weeks. Based on the academic calendar, it looks like there are 3 more interview sessions for this calendar year (2 pre-dec sessions, 1 post-dec) and more of the same in 2013.

Also, definitely take advantage of the FB link that was posted above. The D2's have been very helpful with questions we had last year and we're definitely looking to pay it forward.

I agree. Too much money to pay to attend a school that is still working out the kinks and has yet to experience how the clinic will work out. I was impressed by the faculty, but I felt like they spent way too much time focusing on the curriculum. It's hard to get me excited about a dental school when all you focus on is the class structure. The sim lab and clinic are state of the art and should have been emphasized more on interview day.

I completely agree with this. I'm glad they are proud of their curriculum, but I think they went overboard and tried to make it more of "an experience" than it really was. Of course I went along with it just like the 60 other applicants because I didn't want to look like I was a party pooper . I am not trying to sound fake or anything and there were some things I really did like.

Something to keep in mind would be you have to focus on your curriculum (as much as possible) to prepare your students to be competent in clinic. If you don't hold that curriculum to a high standard, the odds that bad things will happen in clinic is... well bad. A well developed curriculum will lead to competent student doctors and the rest will flow.

The facilities are great, what should be the most worrying thing I feel is will there be a large enough patient pool to support a student/faculty ran clinic. The school has had the emergency clinic open for a while now to see patients and spread the word. They are also actively advertising the clinic at various health fairs/events to be able to get the knowledge that a dental school clinic is available.

A new school is definitely not for everybody. It will have its disadvantages compared to established schools. That said, all schools were new at some point and the opportunity to shape a new school is also unique. Just depends on what your into.
