****The Official Roseman Univ. Class of 2017 Interview/Acceptance Thread****

So the last person on here who got accepted was a "F". The person before him/her was an "E." Not much to go off of, but so far the alphabetical theory is there. Anyone else got accepted who would like to share the time of call and the first letter of their last name?

yeah but i just hope ERicci8996 (the first one on here to post they got a call) is before E...might be an R 🙁

I know that Finchy86 and I interviewed on the same day. Not sure if ERicci8996 interviewed before that. If that's the case, then it could be in order of interview dates.

1st Dental School Acceptance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.........got the call.......

First name starts with P. That may throw out the alphabetical order of calls theory.

Ya I interviewed on 9/28 and my last name is R

I respectfully withdrew from my interview on 12/7, hope this opens the doors for someone!

Got me a call that changed my life about an hour ago! Crazy! Interviewed 11/9 and last name starts with N. So, it seems to me that it is not alphabetical!

At approximately 2:45 pm mst I got the desired phone call from Dr Harmon! I am in! My last name starts with M. Lets hear it for all of those in the 10/12 interview group, it seems like there were a lot of us accepted from that group! 🙂

Does anyone know when Roseman needs to know back about a decision? Also any ideas about if there is a deposit associated with a decision? Is it refundable?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think its $1000 by January 3rd for us. I think it's just one deposit.

I guess no Roseman for me, I'm okay though because I got my top choice!! 😀

Congrats to all you guys!

Why do you say that? They send you a rejection or are you just assuming because they haven't called you yet?

Assuming, I think I might be waitlisted though. Someone else can have my spot. 🙂

I received the call this afternoon. 2nd acceptance!

Interviews are my strongest skill in this whole application process. I've been a dental assistant since 2007, and that has taught me how to talk to people. I'm really good at BS'ing with people, and that helps me be personable in interviews. Plus, I have quite a bit of dental experience that helps me be very confident in my choice to pursue dental school.

I just love people, and most people think I'm pretty cuddly. 🙂

I felt like i did fine in my interviews as well, I have some experience working in a dental office and every job that I have held has always been involved with working with people in groups or what not. I remember you quite well actually from the Roseman Interview.

Everyone keeps saying they remember me so I must have done something memorable! 🙂

I guess all I can say is that I'm pretty dang unique. I mean, I'm a redhead, so I'm used to standing out in any crowd that I'm in. On top of that, I'm super corny and I'm probably the most enthusiastic person in the world. I guess I just go into interviews as if I've already met everyone, and I just treat everyone like they have been my longtime friend, including the adcoms. I don't get nervous for interviews, and I just wing it every time depending on what the vibe is.

Sorry if I don't have a good answer. 🙁 I know that everyone comes into these interviews super prepared, so I'm not sure what makes me totally different.

why would a Most enthusiastic person in the world want to go to a brand new school that has no reputation and is as expensive as NYU??

I don't understand why everyone is so disappointed? I know guys who have got into this school but declined the offer and decided to improve there GPA so they could get into an Ivy league school and/or a school that's well known. One year here and there is not going to make any difference, but four years in a wrong school will.

Don't give up guys, if you don't get in this year, its for the best. Be patient, with a gpa of 3.5 and DAT scores above 20 and a right attitude you could get into your no. 1 choice of school.

Don't settle for anything less. After all money matters so does the reputation.

I loved the block system, the pass fail competency grading, the group aspect of the preclinical coursework, the new lab and clinic, the faculty, and the location. I don't want to specialize, I just want to learn in the most conducive setting. When I think of where my husband and I will be happiest and where I want to spend four years, it's at Roseman.

I agree that no one should give up on pursuing their number one school, but I also think that it's up to each applicant to determine what their "wrong school" is by looking at their own goals and values.

We will all end up where we belong! 🙂

This is my third time applying and my first time getting interviews...I really hope they call me :scared:

There a few points I'd like to address here. The idea that a new school, which understandably has to develop it's reputation, is synonymous with a "bad school" idea is flawed. Is Roseman the best dental school in the country? No. But it's a pretty good school and will appeal to many people because of its strengths. Being new means you have to develop a reputation. That said, if you look at all the new schools that have opened including Midwestern, Western, ASDOH, UNLV, NOVA, etc. they're all doing pretty well for themselves and are popular once they've graduated their first class and have established a rep. One of the best things about being at a new school is things are dynamic and can be shaped into something new and different. I would venture to say it's harder for most established schools to work out their problems because they get stuck in their ways. A new school has a fresh start. Hell, look at LECOM. I'm not the biggest fan of the school, but if they can pull off the 3+1 (dental school done in 3 years, 4th year you'll get the same experience as a GPR/AEGD) than I think that'd be pretty badass. Ultimately you'll come to realize in dental school that dental students have the same problems regardless of what school they attend.

Anyways, sorry for the wall of text.

anyone know if Dr Harman is calling today too like the 1st person accepted on this thread said? anyone get any calls today? think its a lost cause now 🙁

I was hoping that the calls will continue today... but it just seems too quiet and no call for me at this point 👎

I'm wondering the same myself. I have a friend who goes there and they told me it may take a couple of days to get through all of the phone calls. Though, I'm kind of with you on thinking it's a lost cause. Here's to hoping that the wait list is short (and that we're presumably on it)!

Couldn't have said it better myself! I chose Roseman over 6 other programs because it was a better fit for me. I consider myself fortunate too because I found out I love the block system which was actually one of my reservations about Roseman; there's way less constant stress. Would it be nice if there was a better Rep? Sure, but that will come in time. Different schools are right for different people depending on what fits their needs.

I noticed on last years thread that after December 1st, no one posted that they got called until the 16th...just some food for thought.

In the same boat.

I was able to get through and spoke to them. They said that if we didn't get a call yesterday then we were not accepted. However, it does not mean that they have rejected or waitlisted us. All it means is we are still considered for Round 2 which is in January. That round is just as big as December 3rd.

I'm assuming they didn't say whether or not we will be receiving a letter in the mail concerning our status regardless of being not being accepted?
