****The Official UCLA Class of 2017 Interview/Acceptance Thread****

Anybody know what the 'satisfactory completion of coursework...' in the acceptance letter means?

Is it a C and above? I can't remember what she told us at the interview.

Just placed down my deposit😛

Probably will be looking for places to live soon if anyone has any suggestion pm me!

Hey guys, for those of you who got the acceptance letter:

The letter says to make sure to send the green certified mail postcard.
I don't think I got one in the letter. Did anyone else get one?

Congrats ! I'm a currently a first year and recommend applying for graduate housing. It's a little more pricey than neighboring apartments and a few of our classmates do live at those but most of us live at weyburn (graduate housing). It's cool living by your classmates and also utilities are included in monthly rent which is nice. there is a bus shuttle that runs from there to campus... Granted walking takes about as long but yeah. I'd recommend looking into that :]

Yea no problem. I'd say give or take 15 minutes for either. The bus makes like 1 extra stop before the school so yeah... And right now I'm living in a two bedroom two bathroom with another 1st year and we're each paying 1150$/mo. That doesn't include parking, which you have to pay separately, if that's something you're interested in. It does include all utilities / wifi / cable though.

Oh and ours is furnished, I'm sure it is a little less if you want unfurnished.

Hi! Does anyone know how often UCLA sends their rounds of acceptances post-Dec? Thanks!

I wonder if by "two weeks" from date of interview.... they literally mean "exactly two weeks."?

Every time my phone rings I have a small heart attack... haha

Haha, yeah. Hopefully, this shows that some schools really do consider the entire application. My GPA is pretty average for UCLA but my DAT is something that they brought up in the interview. My interviewers also kept asking about my publications, Master's Program, and ECs though. I am just glad that schools realize there is more to a person than a 5 hour test!

Yeah I agree. Good luck man.

When is the first day of classes/orientation? Do you know where we can find this information? Thanks!

I'm sure it's on their website somewhere but don't worry about it for now. I talked to noemi and she said that a package will be send out in March with a lot of information telling you what you need to do.

This is not totally official but I am willing to bet that Orientation with start September 18th and 1st day school to start on Sept. 23rd.

I interviewed on 1/14. Has anyone else from this group heard back yet?

I interviewed on the 7th and heard back the next Monday (the 14th).

I also interviewed on 1/14. I haven't heard anything back yet :/ I've been sweating bullets; I hope we hear back tomorrow!

Well, I would imagine that you would be hearing back tomorrow... even if it is an interview day, UCLA still manages to call me after an interview day.

I think they say "you'll hear back in 2 weeks" so people don't call. She also said that she will call everyone (acceptance or not).... So... when I saw (310)825-xxxx I picked up the phone and I said hello like I was being picking up a pay pone that started ringing right as I walked by.... "helllllooooooOOOOOoooo?" haha

BEST OF LUCK!

Same here. My phone hasn't left my side in a week, lol. I was hoping to hear back today, but then I heard the schools have the day off. :xf: for a call tomorrow.

Those of you who recently interviewed at UCLA, did they say anything about how full their class is/ if they're still interviewing etc?

Thank you 🙂

They didn't say anything to me about how many seats are left or about how many interviews they're still doing. Sorry 🙁 but according to an earlier post they had filled about 1/2 the seats by early January.

Thank you so much for your reply!

I want to call and ask but I think they made it pretty clear that they don't want to be called :scared:

They didn't tell me specifics either, but from the tone and words, it sounded like they were still very much in the process of filling seats. Did you interview this month, or are you just gauging for reference?

they went from interviewing once a week before january to 3x a week now

At my interview, they said the 3x per week schedule for interviews was only for about 2-3 weeks to "catch up" due to the weeks of no interviews during the month of December. They are going back to one day of interviews in the next week or so.

Also, last year they had 129 interviews total for the 88 spots (according to the ADEA PDF file), and if they are on track with that for this year, then they will be done with interviews soon.

I was told they'd be reviewing files/inviting until March! Hah, so hopefully we'll hear soon? Good luck!

For the secondary application, you mean? There are multiple short-responses you write for them. I don't think there's a required word limit, but you type into a pre-formatted box with limited space. I filled some of the boxes, and others I typed only a few sentences.

no actually i'm applying for the 1 year international pg course... thank you for your reply! 🙂

Does UCLA still require us to collect 150 extracted teeth and store them in a 10:1 mixture of water and bleach?

Any writing test in the interview day? If so, how many essay? Any suggestions how to prepare for it?

With the new curriculum, the requirement is now 200 with a 5:1 mixture.

They started off the interview day by putting us in a conference room and having us write a short essay (30 min.) based on a prompt. I don't think there's much you need to worry about in terms of preparing for it; it's more one of those things you just sit down and do. Although I was a little surprised as to how formal it felt...I haven't had to do a timed write since high school haha. So bit of a throwback there. But overall it wasn't too bad at all.

For those who are already accepted, do you still need to update your AADSAS profile?

I did an academic update... But it was processing before I got my acceptance.

I am pretty sure you are not required to do an update if you haven't already and you have been accepted.

Noemi did say that as soon as our final grades are in and our degrees are posted we need to send a final copy of our transcripts to the same place we sent them before the interview.

I'M SO EXCITED FOR THE FALL!!!!!! :biglove:

Has anyone recently been invited for an interview? Do they normally invite on Fridays or is it just whenever? Still waiting to hear from...:-/

Has anyone who interviewed on 1/18 got accepted?

For those who are already accepted, do you still need to update your AADSAS profile?

Mine was already updated by the time I interviewed, and my final grades (graduated the spring before) were on the transcript I had to send in for my interview. If you're interviewing there, I believe they'll want your current transcripts to-date, so I doubt they care for the AU.
