***The Official UCSF Class of 2018 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

I am guessing we all moved up 15 spots from the original point

Just sit tight people. If someone got off that was 10-15 then most likely you shifted up 15 from original spot, given that some people who probably got called don't participate on SDN

An email was sent out saying we should get the update late afternoon today or tomorrow morning

Since April 1st is the deadline for holding one acceptance with deposit, there probably was a decent amount of movement in the list yesterday.

So let's be patient. Who knows? Maybe we'll get the call instead of an email update.

Accepted yesterday at 7:17pm Eastern! I heard the waitlist update is taking ages, but once it does I think it will be good news for everyone 🙂
Good luck!

haha you were the rate-determing step for our update, jk! Congrats!

If I am 10-13, do I stand a chance?
Also, what if I accept there offer and get a C plus in biochem? Am I dunzo?

At this point in the game, how long does someone have to decide if they want to attend if they get an acceptance phone call?

Obviously, someone correct me if I'm wrong. I remember hearing that at this point you only get 1-2 days to decide.

I've spoken to a current UCSF dental student. They were ranked 38 initially, and got off the wait list at the very last minute, within days of orientation starting. Given your current standing, you probably have good odds. However, you'll have to be patient. And be willing to potentially relocate back to sf if you get the call after you move to your other school.

I have no idea about the grade. Is Biochem a prereg for UCSF (I don't remember)? If so, then you need a C or higher according to their website.

You need a b- or better; if you get a c then you have to report it and why you did poorly. I have heard that it isn't the end of the world but I'm going to try my best not to find out personally! Hope that helps

wondering how slow the waitlist moves after 4/1...at this point, everyone who got accepted at UCSF is holding that only 1 offer in their hand. But if everybody has only 1 offer, who is gonna give it up? unless they are on the waitlist of somewhere else and get accepted eventually...

Yes, that's how it works now. So movement is going to be a trickle down effect. But if you're a CA resident, there aren't many schools that people will leave UCSF for.

Thats what's gotta happen, i assume. Other waitlist movement and changing life circumstances.

People who are holding multiple deposits typically have 2 weeks after April 1st to decide, if they haven't already. I am guessing there may be more spots opening up within that time especially since many wait-lists are shifting this week. I am not sure... But that's what I would think🙂

sorry about the spam, but I just looked it up. You're completely right.
"f) Applicants holding positions at multiple institutions. Dental schools participating in AADSAS will report to AADSAS by April 1, the names and identification numbers of candidates who have paid a deposit and/or hold a position in their entering class. After April 5, AADSAS will report to each institution the names of candidates in their entering class who are holding

acceptance(s) at additional institutions. Dental schools will have the option of rescinding an offer of admission to candidates who have paid deposits and are holding positions at multiple institutions. Dental schools with candidates holding multiple positions on April 1of the year of admission will give such candidates a minimum 15-day notice if they choose to withdraw them from the entering class. This policy will be evaluated every two years by the ADEA Section of Dental School Admissions Officers to assess its impact on applicants and dental schools and provide applicants a reasonable time-frame to complete their enrollment process."

This is somewhat reassuring. Thanks for digging up this information!

Couple other questions:
1) Does anyone know how large the waitlist is at this point? Just wondering.
2) If/When they get down to your number and call you to offer a spot, do they re-review your file? That is, do they look over everything before they decide to even give you that call?

I am on the waiting list also. I learned there was a sort-of admit day this Saturday. To those admitted, how was it? What did you learn? Is the class completely full at this point?

I went to admit day, it was amazing. The original wait list was 96 people long and there was expected to be movement before school starts. That is all they gave us🙂 hope that helps.

Do you know if we are suppose to mail in any transcripts or documents while we are still on the waiting list? If so, which documents? Do you guys predict there to be movement of about 15 spots to 20 spots from now until April 28th, the next update day?

This was from the Waitlist Confirmation email:
  1. Send us an official copy of your transcripts for all college level work you have completed through the winter 2014 term. The deadline for receipt of these transcripts is April 25, 2014. Deadlines for any spring and summer transcripts will be sent to you at a later date.

Can you possibly tell me the address or where I can find the address?

Thank you!

All of us waitlisters are very anxious. The answer is nobody can predict what kind of movement there will be. It would certainly be AMAZING if there was another 15-20 spot jump this month, but I personally don't think that's realistic. Given that the April 1st deadline passed, movement is going to be slower now. I imagine that there will be 2-5 spots every month from here on out. But who knows? I sure as hell don't. I'm speculating like everyone else.

Just GOT THE CALL!! (I actually missed it but got a message and an email)

For those who are waiting I'm in Cali and my original waitlist number was between 16-20. Good luck!

Hope to see many of you in the Fall.

Congratulations! You said that was your original number. What is your current number, as of the April 2 update?

Again, huge congrats! I'm excited for you 🙂

You ask a lot of questions lol. You already know you're in the next group to be contacted with a number of 5-10, so why not just go with the flow and let things come? To answer your question, they give you 2 weeks to send a deposit.

Because: anxiety 😉

Has anyone received their financial aid packet, either through regular mail, email, or on the financial aid portal?

Just got the update. I'm so close to getting in! Moved up 8 spots from last update a month ago.
