Usually, the first interview invites don't go out until August (not sure if that changed). Also, it should stay the same with the 3 interview days. I will note, we are getting a new Dean of Admissions (from within the school), so that may slightly change the actual interview day setup from what it has been previously.

Is the new Dean of Admissions Dr Mark?
 
Can current students comment on social life at UNC, like the Delta Sigma Delta co-ed dental fraternity? Are they active, what's the culture, etc.

Got an interview invite today! I am in state. AADSAS submitted-6/20, supplemental received-7/25
 
I got an interview today for 9/7 as well (NJ resident)! Is anyone planning on going to the pizza social the night before? My plane lands about an hour beforehand so I may be late, but I want to try to come.

Did anyone get another email from Ms. Oakes with a time for their interview? I confirmed but never heard what time it will be at.

I know this is quite a way off for most of you, but if you’re OOS and you get in and you want IS tuition, you wanna establish residency ASAP in NC. You have to be a resident for 366 days before they’ll approve you for IS tuition.

To be considered you’ll also need to show important domiciliary acts. These are getting DL, registering to vote, registering vehicle, filing a tax return, etc. You also need to show that you’re independent from your parents financially (and they can’t claim you on their taxes as a dependent). I know somebody who didn’t get it because of this.

I'm starting to get concerned about the interview next weekend with Hurricane Dorian starting to sweep in. I imagine flights will be okay for Thursday and Friday, but just wanted to share that in case anyone needs to make alternative plans!
 
How early do you think we would hear if they plan to reschedule the 9/6-9/7 interview? I know they won't be able to decide yet, but hoping to hear sooner rather than later!
 
Hello everyone! I'm considering to add UNC, do you guys/girls think it's too late? I already submitted my aadsas back in June so i'm just thinking of adding this one school.

If you are OOS, I would likely say it is too late. From perusing previous years' threads, it seems like UNC has 3 interview dates (one in September, one in October and one in November) and the majority of OOS applicants are interviewed in September.

I also think they will be sending out the wave of October invites next week (judging from last year's thread - they seem to give you notice at least 3-4 weeks ahead of the date). If this holds true this year, it is highly unlikely that your application will be received and reviewed in time for the October wave of invites. I must also mention that their supplementary application is rather long (roughly 10 essay questions - some of them worth a paragraph or two but it did take me much longer than other supplementary apps).

Good luck on whatever you end up doing!
 
So interview information for September 7th says the actual interviews are held between 8am and 3pm, after breakfast at 7:30.

Does anyone know if there’s time for lunch? I’m trying to decide whether to bring a lunch with me or not. I most likely won’t be able to eat anything offered due to dietary restrictions.

The original email said that all interviews ended at 1pm, but I also received the schedule that said it ended at 3pm. Does anyone know when the actual interview day is over for traveling purposes?

I emailed Ms. Oakes about this and she said the interviews will end at 1 pm. Someone who interviewed last year also said that the day ends at 1 pm. I'm not sure why the schedule said the day would end at 3 pm...

Haha! I’m certainly no celebrity. Look for the fat bald guy . I was talking to zToothinator today and he’ll be there too.
 
Great experience overall for those going to interview on the October date! I had a great time, and that pizza was great the night before (coming from a NJ kid, I think that means something).

@DentTreadOnMe, I was never able to spot you down at the pizza social! Damn. Hope all is well, though.
