***The Official UNC Class of 2024 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

Yes, this is true that they are going to hold one last interview date in January (different from years past), with a much smaller group of applicants to fill the class. That's all the details I got for ya

Do you know if this will change acceptances and waitlist notifications? Since the entire class was filled the first day in recent years and waitlist notifications several days later.

Has anyone heard about UNC ASoD opening a satellite school in Asheville?

Do you mean the Rural Oral Health Scholars program? Not a satellite school... It's a special program (by the school) provided for students hoping to practice somewhere rural. They essentially spend part of 3rd and a lot of 4th year in a clinic near Asheville (there's another one I can't remember where) where they get good clinical experience and a good understanding of rural health care. It's limited to about 7 students per class currently.
I believe that next year they're opening up another program with even more spots.

Do y’all think that it would look bad if I underload second semester? I’m would take Advanced Anatomy w/ lab and Marine Animal Biology (for last bio elective) plus some other class as I only need 9 more credits

I am underloading as well but taking two STEMS and a lab. I’ve never heard anything bad about it. As long as you keep up your grades and complete your degree, you should be fine.

I already interviewed and my application went from "invited to interview" to "received/application complete" is that normal?

Anybody know how many people get acceptances? I know there’s approx. 82 seats but assuming they accept a bit more than this, come December 2nd lol

They accept 82 on the first go-around (as they have a really high matriculation rate of those accepted), then go to the waitlist to fill any openings. There are still a good number of those who come off of the waitlist, but no idea of how many that is...

Do you think this could be changing with less spots given with the rumored January date?
Good point... Forgot about that (in years past it has been 82). Though, could actually be less this time around.
There will definitely be a January date, but it will be much fewer than the usual 80 students at each date.

anyone know if UNC change statuses in the morning or is it after all of the calls are done?

Last year, I think UNC was pretty slow to update my AADSAS status.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow! Always happy to answer any questions you may have about the program. I'm only a D1 but happy to share what I've learned so far.

Acceptance call at 8:02. OOS. I can’t believe this is finally happening I’m gonna be a UNC dentist.
Congrats! Do you happen to know till what time they will be calling students?

Does anyone know who typically creates/manages the Facebook group for those who receive acceptances?

If you're not able to take the call, I assume they would leave you a voicemail.

I can confirm this. For some reason the first call went to voicemail ad Dr. Reside left one. He called a few minutes later though and I picked it up right away!

Okay awesome! I just ask b/c I'm in class till about 12 and then from 1 to around 2 so I wasn't sure. I would probably step out of class to take the call though, I'd be too excited to wait lol

I was personally in the bathroom getting ready and dropped my shaving-cream coated brush onto the floor. Not my proudest moment... but certainly exciting!

Anyone know if the majority of calls are made in the morning, or is it just completely random?

In past threads every post I’ve seen mentioned a call before 10am. Though they do always mention knowing people who got calls later in the afternoon.

I think it's completely random. My call was between 10 and 11. Even if you don't get a call today, there's still January-August for students to decline acceptances.

The VP of our 2023 class manages the FB group. If you are accepted, send me or zToothinator a private message with your name and we can add you to the group! Congratulations to everyone today because, even if you're not accepted to UNC, I'm sure you'll all have many acceptances elsewhere, and becoming a dentist is the most important thing!

Congrats to everyone who has received a call so far!

Any calls from Dr. Frazier-Bowers yet? I forgot the name of my second interviewer.
