Haven't received an interview but recently got an email stating:

"This email is to let you know that we have received your AADSAS application, Online Supplemental application, forms, and fee. Your application is currently in the process of being reviewed. It will proceed through a multileveled review in which we consider such factors as your GPA, academic history, DAT scores, letters of evaluation/recommendation, investigation in the field of dentistry and all other factors presented in your application."

I'm OOS and had my interview this past Saturday. I was told that they do one large interview once each month, and that they interview the bulk of their OOS applicants early on. I imagine a large number of OOS applicants are going to get their interview invite in the next week or two for the October date.

What are some solid ideas I should talk about for:


-Indicate any experiences that would demonstrate your ability to work with your hands:

-List any activities in areas other than studies in which you have excelled:

-List extracurricular endeavors, community services, and hobbies

What are your plans after dental school? V.A. dentistry? Private practice? Specialty program?
 
I will be interviewing this Saturday, October 15th. Will anyone be attending the social on Friday night?
 
They received my stuff Oct. 12 when do you guys think I will hear back? When did you guys submit and heard back?

Yeah man that's pretty late. I submitted late too though and had all my stuff submitted to UNC in midSeptember so you're not alone. I haven't heard anything back yet from them but heard they will be doing another wave of interview invites this week. However, slim chances for a preDecember interview and you'll probably need better than usual UNC stats to pull one this late

thank you!! But how did you know or find out that they will be asking this time this week-ish for invites for interviews pre-december?

A friend of mine called and I think that's essentially what they told him. Seems like everything is moving kind of slow this year though so it's not the end of the world if you don't hear anything for a while
 
Post if you get an interview!!! Could tomorrow be the day?
My GPA was only verified last thursday I don't know why I have much hope anyway :/

This means: do you want to go into private practice? specialize? research? public health? military? corporate dentistry?
 
I got the email for the Nov interview on Monday (I'm IS)--- and I was a late applicant (early October), so I was pretty surprised! ☺☺ Anyone know what kind of questions they tend to ask? I'd been searching SDN but haven't have not pinpointed a thread for it.

Also, does anyone know about how many other people attend the interview? I heard other schools ranged from 10-60, I assume UNC would have quite a few people.

Are all the people for the interview already invited? If so, we have only one interview left which is in January but typically do people in January get waitlisted or are there some acceptances?

*Based on what I understand and assuming my source isn't wrong*

On the day of the interview we are split into groups of 8 and each group has 3 interviewers. (Note: they aren't group interviews, each group is just assigned the same 3 people to interview them all) Then, each interviewer can nominate one person. I think it's a collaborative effort and the interviewers work together so that 3/8 people from each group are nominated. Of those who are nominated, the board will then debate on who should be accepted. So # wise, 80 people are invited to each interview day. 30 of the 80 are then nominated and discussed. Of the 30 who are nominated, only 20 are offered admission. Since there are only four interview dates (sept, oct, nov, and jan), only 75% of the class will be filled by the January interviews. So, I assume there will be acceptances given out then and everyone who was interviewed and not accepted will be waitlisted.

99% sure they're all gone. Can still pull a post-December interview though
 
When will we hear back from UNC about the status of our application. They had received my stuff on 10/12 at 3:27 PM and I am just curious where I stand
