***The Official Univ, of Maryland Class of 2017 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

nah. I have heard that the WL doesn't move much and they put a lot of people on it :/ hope it's not true

Hey Guys,

I heard back on April 2nd with an offer of admission. I interviewed on February 27 and was placed on the wait list March 12. With this information I would assume the rest of you guys should hear back from them on Tuesdays and not Fridays. I hope this helps.

-This is my first post, but if there is anything else you guys want to ask feel free.

Thanks,

Anu

Still haven't heard from them... will keep you guys posted though. Anyone have a clue as to how the wl traditionally moves?

Hi Anu,
Thank you so much for this information. About what time did you receive acceptance from the school on Tuesday? And are you an OOS applicant? If you could answer these questions, I would truly appreciate it. And congratulations on your acceptance🙂

Hi,

I apologize for the late reply. I received my acceptance offer on April 2nd at 1:45pm exactly. I am an out of state applicant. Good luck to all you guys!

Thanks,

Anu

Yesterday, I received a rejection letter from UMB and I was interviewed back in 11/27/2012. It is my ashamed state school. Prior to the rejection letter, I sent a very polite email to Dr. Meehan and she never responded. I also called the admission office, and they were not helpful. I think this school is very inconsiderate. I was already accepted to many schools by 12/2/2012. I am glad that I accepted an offer to the UPenn. I am sure that UMB is horrible school if they treat the applicant like that. Imagine, you are attending there and how helpful faculty would be.

lol yup UMB must be a terrible school if you didn't get in 🙄

It just depends on a lot of factors. I got an interview with UPenn but turned it down because of the price. I got accepted/invited for an interview everywhere else. But guess what, Temple never even got back to me and it was the worst school I applied to. I only would have gone there if I literally got rejected everywhere else. Things happen.

Thank you 🙂 It was not the issue that they did not accept me. I think that they should at least let me know earlier, so I would process what school I am going to. I feel that they should not make people wait for 6 months after the interview. It is all good.

No offense, but it's actually pretty common for schools to wait until the end of the cycle to send final notices of rejection. Usually, if April 1st rolls by and you were not placed on the wait-list, it's a rejection. Besides, having the ability to choose from multiple schools is an honor and having that choice is something one should not take for granted.

I agree with ywatson that many schools are inconsiderate. Because of the high demand, they really do not have any major incentive to please their applicants. They can ignore us, be rude, etc. and the class will be full come the fall and they would still have qualified applicants left over to reject. In an ideal world, the admissions staff would realize that part of their job is to work for the applicants. Many of these offices have several staff members dedicated to admissions in addition to the admissions committee itself... but are still very inefficient at responding to applicants.

The university generates their paychecks. They work for the university, not for us.

Just curious about how difficult is it to get in to maryland.

Does anyone with stats like 23 DAT, 3.7 GPA, and reasonable EC not getting in?
