***The Official University of Minnesota Class of 2019 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

This is a great program. Hoping for a chance to interview here. Good luck to everyone else applying here.

<----- Go, Gophers! My top choice.

Their secondary was long. I finally finished it the other night. Good luck to everyone else applying here

Same! Is everyone using all 6,000 characters?
Anyone else going on the shorter side? I didn't want to ramble so I did the bare minimum with about 2000 characters. There's no minimum character count that I saw.

I think I'm going on the shorter side. I feel like I wrote what I really need to in my PS and don't want to seem like I'm bsing to reach max characters lol but that's just me since I don't feel I need extra space 🙂

Yeah, that's how I am too. I don't want to feel like I'm being really redundant, especially since they have our AADSAS application as well. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

I wouldn't worry too much about not reaching a 6000 character limit. As long as you say what you need to say, that's all that matters. If you hit 6000 characters, you either have a lot of experiences to talk about, I guess, or you rambled.

especially since they have our AADSAS application as well.

Exactly. I think it's important to expand upon your PS here or just mention other experiences you have. They probably won't look on you favorably if you just recycle your AADSAS personal statement, which I could see some people doing.

Finally finished this supplemental. Took me awhile since I had so many experiences and wanted to make sure ADCOMs would take me seriously.

Hopefully I'm not too late with submitting it mid-July.

I submitted mine earlier this week *shrug* it was a long supplemental

For anyone who has filled out the supplemental for Minnesota, how did you handle the "Activities and Honors" section? I will include everything I put for this section on AADSAS, but it also says to include hobbies, special interests, talents, etc.... obviously there is no official "position" for hobbies, so what should I put for that box?

Also, how do you fill out hours for academic honors? Scholarships, for example.

Got an interview as well! I guess those extra supplemental essays paid off! First interview🙂

From Canada

Just got invited for an interview as well! Oh boy, 4 years of trying, hope I finally get in. I submitted roughly July 15th.

Does anyone know how important the secondary app is? Not sure if I should spend one more week working hard on it, or just write an okay essay and submit in couple days. 3.63sgpa, 3.78ogpa, and 22AA (nothing below 20). In state applicant here.

Hi. Got an interview with UMN yesterday and confirmed it today. Any tips on where to stay? Check in is a little after 7 a.m! I wouldn't mind staying somewhere very close to the school.

You've gotta strike a balance between doing a good job and getting that supplemental in as soon as possible. Just take a few days and really go at it and get it turned in. I think a week might be too long to wait at this point. Good luck to you 😉

Congrats! When did you have your supplemental in by?

There's a hotel across the street that's probably a three minute walk from Moos Tower where the interview will be held. The Commons Hotel I think?

The "Access" section of the sup is interesting especially if you waived your right to read your recommendations, did anyone have the school send their app to themselves or someone you know?

This thread has been far too quiet 🙂 I'm planning on driving in and parking at the U of M (in-state). I live in uptown. I went to the University of Minnesota before the light rail so does anybody have recommendations for parking lots and how I should access them? I'm thinking the Washington avenue lot would be best and I can just take the tunnel to cross the street into moos tower. Fairview parking ramp is also an option, and it looks easier to access off of the Huron exit. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Coming from uptown for my interview I parked in the Washington ramp without a problem and walked across the street to Moos. Parking was $10 for the day, if I recall correctly. For class I usually take the 113 or 114 buses, which pick up at lake/lyndale and the uptown station (respectively) and drop you off right in front of the building, so you have a few good options

Awesome, thanks friend! I'm still trying to figure out if I want to just be dropped off by someone or if I should park but that's a reasonable price to get to Moos quickly. I'm moving to downtown in a month, so I won't be able to take the uptown express if I get into the UofM but I really loved those busses when I was at the U, so ridiculously fast.

I just double checked the schedule for the interview day and am wondering what "File Review with Admissions and Diversity Staff" would be? I'm assuming its just to check over that you have completed the minimum requirements for dental school, but thought I would ask someone who has already done the interview to clarify.

Hello everyone. I was invited yesterday for an interview on 9/11, this Thursday. Is anyone else interviewing this same day. ? Any recommendations/suggestions ? Thank you

Hey MasterDental!

I'll be there tomorrow for the morning interview. Are you coming from OOS? I'm in state, but there are good recommendation at the top of this thread for staying at hotels. I just did a trial run to the U of M where we are interviewing, it was really easy to get to that early in the morning, just make sure you follow the elevator recommendations, because some only go to the 9th floor. See ya tomorrow.
