***The Official University of Utah class of 2020 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

Has anyone else heard anything? I'm assuming that because my AADSAS portal never changed from "invited for interview" and I haven't received an email, that means I'm not in?

My friend not on SDN got in as well.

Yeah we both are. I switched mine from California.
It is easier to get in as out of state though, I was told that multiple times when I was there haha

I received an acceptance email this morning!

Got my acceptance this morning! From Montana and for sure going!

How come? Where will you be going instead?

I have a couple reasons outside of school Itself (like my family and wife's both from Southern California and we plan on attending Loma Linda and plan on having kids).

But I am turned off by how new it is. Like have yet to graduate a class new. As well as I am interested in specializing and I'd like to go to a school that has residencies there that I can really dive into if I wanted.

If I was dead set on General and had no interest to specialize or my parents had a practice waiting for me I would've chose Utah in a heartbeat for the price.

But like I said, I'd like to go to a school with specialties I can really check out and make connections with if I chose to go that route. The money is hard to pass up, but I never went into dentistry for money in the first place.

Hello All,

Congrats to those who have been accepted. You will not regret choosing Utah. So that we can keep in touch go like our ASDA page on Facebook and send us a message, we set up the group page for the 2020 class and want to have one of you as the admin.

If you have any questions you can reply to me, or send a message on FB to our ASDA page.

I also had a tough time deciding where to go. What helped me the most was talking to current students to figure out what was the best fit for me. hope that helps!

I got put on the alternate list. Anyone know how deep they dug into that last year?

Accepted!
Check the mobile portal to see if it switched to offer made, I didn't receive a call/email yet and regular aadsas says check back Dec 1st.
Did they send you anything still?

I'm also on the alternate list. The U of U is my top choice so hopefully the list moves fast.

Does anyone know how the alternate list works with IS/OOS?
Since they're accepting a specific number of each would there basically be two lists?

I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I emailed Julie and she said that last year there were 10 people on the list and they went through all of them to fill their class. Hopefully things go that way this year. Good luck!

They still haven't sent me anything. So I don't know if I am in, waitlisted (probably), or rejected.

Unfortunately it means that you're on the waitlist. I talked to Julie and she told me that they don't send out rejections. If you don't get an initial acceptance email or an email notifying you that you are on the alternate list, then you're waitlisted. I'm in the same boat and it's not a boat that I really want to be in. Congrats on your other acceptances though!

Eh that's what I figured...oh well

Yeah I received some emails after!
Are you the CA resident that ran into someone at UNLV that dropped a particular word at the U? If so, hi!
There are 8 out of state students in our class and I know a lot more than that were interviewed, probably at least 30? The U is a lot more friendly to out of states than people believe. In fact, that is the only way they can grow their class size right now due to the legislatures demands. I wouldn't be surprised if 12-15 out of states were accepted for the class of 2020. Don't give up hope as an oos, especially from surrounding states without a dental school!
I'm out of state! Acceptance offered on December 1st, and response form was a yes! Anyone else accept their offer?

No haha sorry

I was accepted by email Dec. 1 in the morning, but will be declining, so there's one more spot!
I'm out of state (NM)
Good luck to everyone!!!

Those of you who are accepted, what was the time frame for accepting or rejecting the admission offer?

I'm curious as to when the alternate list will begin moving.

I'm sure people have already begun declining their seats, however, I'm not sure if admissions is in the office during the holiday season to notify alternates.

I emailed them and asked for an update. My status on aadsas is "Received/waiting additional information" since 11/18/15 (i dont know why that late, i applied in august). This is what they said to me:

"Yes, we have received your supplemental fee and we are still currently holding interviews. We appreciate your strong interest in our innovative DMD program and your application is under review by our Admissions Committee. I know this is one of the hardest parts of the application process; however, you will be notified via email if there are any updates to your application"

I honestly dont think i'll make it, but i thought i'd let you know that just because you haven't heard doesn't mean you wont make it 🙂
