Just to clarify:

These are all checked off as complete in my portal:
- CAS Application
- Secondary Application
- Application Fee
- Official DAT Scores
- Required Letters of Recommendation Reviewed
(Completed 7/23)

I received an email that my secondary was received, but no email stating my application is under review yet.
Is it normal for it to take this long?
Thanks to anyone who can advise!

I never recieved an under review email but I was emailing directly with someone from admissions and she informed me my app was under review and I should have recieved an email. This was end of June I believe, maybe they just had an issue this year with the under review email going out. Also my status has never changed in the portal, at least whenever I’ve checked it. Hope this helps!

Don't worry that you haven't gotten an email from them yet. It's still early in the application cycle and I didn't get mine until January last year. @PBPL @GalDental54

of course! And no I’ve actually only recieved a waitlist for interview from MWUAZ and it’s been silence from every other school but I do have a lower GPA so at this point no news is better than bad news! And I know how you feel, it can definitely be discouraging seeing people recieved their like 10th invite when you haven’t even recieved your first but it is still super early so I’m just praying September brings me some invites! Good luck to you also!! 🙂

In the column that showed up today in the Aadsas, it shows "none" for my decision status for this university. Should I be concerned or contact them to make sure my application is being reviewed?

I do not want to bug them (and haven't contacted them after I received the email that they'd received my secondary and that they would let me know if they have any questions or if my file is ready for Admissions Committee review...that was on July 19th).

Western does not really update AADSAS- they use their own portal for updates. I think mine was "None" all the way until I declined my offer there lol. You can email them asking if your file is complete. ~3 weeks after I submitted my primary and secondary (same day), I got an email saying what was still missing, then finally almost a month later, I got the "App has been sent for review". Since it's been a month since they received your secondary, I think you should email them asking if it's been sent out to the adcoms or not. Good luck!

Last cycle, I submitted my primary and secondary on 8/24/17; it was sent for review on 9/25/17, and I got an interview invite 1/8/18 for their last two interview dates for the cycle. With your stats, I'm sure you'll get an interview, but it may not be until the very end. I was still accepted even though I interviewed on their 2nd to last interview day 😀

It is 2 on 1 (1 faculty + 1 student). They will both ask you questions, kind of just alternating. Also I believe it's closed file. You can look through this for more info: Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine Interview Feedback

I applied in August, during the interview, the interviewer told me that it was kind of late. And everything was completed by August 14th I believe. So not sure if I would recommend you applying to western but if you wanna take a chance, go for it

In looking at the feedback (I think the most recent is from 2012), a couple state that it's open file. Do you think it's been changed to closed file interviews? Is there any way to confirm which it is? Thanks!

Also, what is the dress for a Friday tour only (and interviewing on Saturday)?

Most recently was 2/5/2018 which was the one I did 🙂 You can sort by interview date
Mine was closed file- for the most part I think it's closed file, but honestly that doesn't matter- just be yourself and prepare well for any and all questions.
I did not do the tour so I have no idea, but I'd say business casual. I-hate-alginate might have a better idea (I don't remember if he went to the PCC tour or not tho).

Mine was closed file, but I just printed out my entire application and supplemental just so I could be prepared for either open-file or closed-file. But like artist2022 said, just be yourself!

The tour on Friday, most people dressed business casual. It's a tour of the PCC, but it's always good to look your best, you never know who's watching!:snaphappy:

I was recently looking at the comprehensive Interview/Acceptance/Rejection thread and noticed that you're also interviewing 11/3. Same boat! Wanted a Friday, but that was the only date left.

Definitely dress up both days. The first day can be business casual

The people that arrived in non-formal wear for the tour aren't in our class this year. (Just an observation of mine but it may not be 100% accurate)

Can you be more specific for what "dress up" means for the tour only day?

Ties for guys? Suits? Or is it ok to wear slacks, dress shirt, nice shoes and no tie? If guys wear that should they wear a blazer of sport coat?

Dresses or nice slacks for girls ok? Or should they wear a suit?

Hello! Glad you asked! You're going to want to dress business casual for the first day and definitely formal for the second. I ended up suiting up on both days just be on the safe side.

I'm sure dresses and nice slacks would be okay for girls but I'm not too sure.. @Avalerdentist maybe able to comment more about this 🙂
 
Just gave up my interview spot at Western. I hope that it opens up a spot for one of you!
 
I need to reschedule my interview here. But when I go to the edit registration page, I see only an option to "cancel registration." I am afraid that if hit that, then the next page will show me dates available after December or even no dates available. Has anyone had to reschedule, or has anyone clicked the cancel button, and had the option to see other available dates before making the cancellation official? Basically, I want to see what other dates are available before hitting the cancellation button.
 
I think it's best to just call. Western is pretty good about actually picking up the phone so you can just talk to someone from admissions pretty easily.

After I clicked the cancel button it did not give me any options for changing the interview date. It simply cancelled my interview.

I believe it was a while ago (maybe late July or early August) but in this thread someone posted the rejection (not sure if it was a letter or email) they recieved but the post has since been deleted! So I think they do send out rejections.
 
Does anyone know if there's any way to store luggage somewhere on campus? Idk if it's tacky or what not, but I'd rather not have to store it at the hotel and making another stop before trying to make my flight that afternoon.
If not, it's not the end of the world

During my interview, we left out luggage right outside of the auditorium we had our morning presentation in. Not sure if thats going to change this year. I would call.

I'm thinking about this too! I'm driving in on Friday, and I'm not sure how formal to go.
 
My interview is on a Saturday. Will it be alright if I purchase my flight at 2:21 from Ontario International Airport? What time does the interview end?
 
Is there an essay I'm missing somewhere? I had to get my courses accredited and that took quite some time so I'm just submitting my supplemental right now, is there an essay somewhere on the supplemental app on why you want to go to Western that I might be missing? Thanks
