It was sort of an essay, but there definitely is a "Why Western" portion on the supplemental. I forget what it's called
It was closed file, 2-on-1, and lasted anywhere from 25-40 minutes (mine went over but I think they're scheduled for ~30). There were about 100 interviewees there, which was really surprising to me, so don't let that throw you off.

Yeah mine was on a Saturday, so that could change things! Plus it was the first date of the cycle, so the following groups may be smaller.

Received an interview as well for the 2nd of february.

I applied back in June. But pretty good. I went on a dental trip to Honduras, I also was in a 3 year long religious leadership position at my religious university

For me it was about a 5 or 6 week turnaround (from when my application was complete to when I received an invitation to interview). If they're still working at that pace, you should still be able to get an interview.
If they do the same as last year, it's a phone call.
