Better to send as a letter or email attachment?

I feel like the letter is more sincere, but the email attachment is more likely to be read, and read in a timely manner...

Draft a letter in business format and attach in email as PDF. So, once they print it out it's a solid, formal letter, but it still gets there timely and isn't lost in the mail room.

Definitely email. Regular mail takes too long, especially at this point in the app cycle. I didn't even send mine as an attachment, just as an email. It still worked.

So anywho, this is going to be my basic format for the pre-interview update:

1) hi.... i'm still interested... haven't committed anywhere yet

2) this is why i <3 your school and would be a good fit there

3) by the way, i would like to take a second to update you on what i've been doing (and throw in updates on my ec's here)


would it sound forced to shove 3 in at the end? would such a letter have a greater impact if its more concise, and i stay to the point by sticking to 1 and 2?

Don't admit that you have no acceptances (which might be inferred by saying you haven't committed anywhere yet). Makes the letter sound desperate.
