JDAD said:Add another $75 to "this-is-the-pile-of-money-I-have-spent-trying-to-get-into-medical-school-pile." I just bought a garment bag to carry my suit in.
I am really getting tired of these hidden expenses. 😡

$75?? you could have gotten one much cheaper if you didn't want to spend the money. i already had one so it's not an issue for me.JDAD said:Add another $75 to "this-is-the-pile-of-money-I-have-spent-trying-to-get-into-medical-school-pile." I just bought a garment bag to carry my suit in.

I'm all about Wal-Mart!JDAD said:Nothing but the best 🙄 This thing is my only piece of carry-on luggage that I have! I used to have one of those wheelie ones, but it fell apart. I was thinking about stuffing everything into my pack, but I decided against it.
USCTex said:If you want to be really cheap...I found a travel iron for $15 and a surprising number of airport bathrooms have power outlets. Then you just cram your suit in your backpack.
Apparently it's "stupid" to iron your suit...according to my mother. But it works in a pinch.
That's not good enough. I demand you buy yourself this one:JDAD said:![]()

That's more bling than my buck can buy...PS2? The last gaming system I owned was a original Nintendo with duckhunt and Mario Bros. Although now that the new Goldeneye game has come out, I'm thinking I might need to make a solid investment in my medical school career and buy one.JDAD said:Wow, I guess I'm rich. I have a playstation 2 and everything.
I went to target, they had three versions, one POS for $24, one decent for $50, and one nice one for $70. I eliminated the first one because I want to keep this thing for a while. It was then between the $50 or the $70.
I then went to the outlet mall and found a pretty nice one for the same price.
For twenty extra bucks I bought the nice one and I am glad I did. I got a lifetime warranty on this biotch.

dandelion said:You sold me. I went to my first interview with a carry-on + a suit-bag + a purse-bag, and it made travelling that much more unpleasant. I have doubts that all my stuff will fit into a garment bag, however.
JDAD said:I am ready for my interviews, if only the schools realized this and sent me my invitation.
JDAD said:I wasn't trying to sell anything, but I will gladly take credit. I am happy with it. I put a bunch of stuff in it tonight just to make sure it fits. Everything worked great. I would do it all over again. Now all I have to do is carry this bag with me. I can fit my books and laptop in on of the pockets. I am ready for my interviews, if only the schools realized this and sent me my invitation.

you can also carry on your garmet bag and actually hang it (not stuff it) in a closet on the plane. it really should not get wrinkled.bewitched1081 said:a lot of suitcases have garment bags inside of them and cost about 60-80 dollars if you get them at discount stores, like costco or marshalls or something. you can get good brands, too. if you put your suit in the garment bag that comes with the suitcase, then you can put everything in your suitcase, leave the steamer at home, and even "carry-on" the suitcase.
dandelion said:Hmm, are you planning to bring your bag as a carry-on? I just looked up Delta's carry-on information, and they say carry-ons should fit in their size-wise unit, approx 22" x 14" x 9". The garment bag looks like it would exceed those dimensions by about 5" when folded up. I want to get one of those garment bag w/ wheelies, but I would want to bring it as a carry-on.
Good luck at your first interview! 🙂![]()

JDAD said:I asked about this, and it turns out that very few airplane have this. They all used to have it, but modern planes have gotten rid of this "closet" because they wanted the space. Moral of the story, don't expect every plane to have this feature.

Second, I'll trade my Univ. of Texas - San Antonio interview for your Vandy interview...no matter how soon it is (sounds fair).
jk
