How it works:

  • Any SDN user can vote for up to 7 schools they consider to be the best
  • The schools with the most votes will be ranked in order
(note: The 50 schools listed for voting are the top 50 in US News Research Rankings)

I thought about this, I figured that people would probably vote their schools in as far as 33. It seems like at least 33 schools will get 1 vote or more.

Only time will tell.

Mayo School of Medicine not on the list= FAIL 👎..they opted out they are not unranked they should be included.

I had to start somewhere.

On second thought, Mayo probably should have been included. There is no edit function on polls.

Delete and repost with Mayo included....big oversight

Don't be presumptuous please. I'd be voting Mayo regardless of my acceptance status...

I can see this thread becoming very very big.....lol

These are the 2011 Power Rankings. Maybe Mayo will not opt out next year, then they will have a shot in 2012.

Again, if a Mod wants to add Mayo that would also work.

Mayo's popularity is guaranteed by searching the forum for "Mayo scholarships". They give big 'uns, which means that they get lots of apps.

True. Lots of apps, very few interviews. Just to keep it in perspective for everyone:

FYI, this was posted in last year's thread, and will hopefully save people some time through not having to reinvent the wheel:

4000 apply
800 get LOR requests
250-300 get interviews
~72 are offered acceptances (including from alternate list)

personal statement is not read until after LORs are received.

42 MD-only spots available.

Between application and the LOR request there is a $100 "secondary" fee, although there has been no secondary the past couple of years. That's what you pay just to have them read your PS.:bow::bow::bow::bow:

It's cause Mayo is freaking sweet.

I... am not powerful enough to do this thing you ask. Seek out a primary color.😏

east coast bias 👎

How come there are no SUNY med school's or schools in NY besides Cornell, NYU and Columbia? not good. not good. not good. more pressure to NOT go to a med school in NY

In the forum applications I've administered under, I don't believe anyone could change polls from within the board itself. IIRC, it usually required a low-level edit by someone w/ direct access to the forum's files (local, FTP, etc.). Usually that was the only way to actually modify a poll since it's not often a supported "feature" (probably because editing a poll after it's posted makes the previous responses suspect).

I know some mods can edit polls (it's been used a lot), but I'm just not sure if a red/blue could do it or if it takes an admin.

Nah, Duke's overrated 😴. They play in a relatively weak conference. Being in the Big East is like playing in the NCAA tourney every game, they're battle tested. Plus Duke chokes a lot ... CHOKERS!! :meanie:

Come on dukies (dookies?) let's see you defend your team!!

Haha I agree! I mean come on, St. John's beat Duke last month! And our team is not the greatest..

Updated for end of day Feb 26th. Big movement by Case Western and UCLA.

Damn, I can't believe Mayo isn't on the list. I love Mayo so much I've stayed with them 4 years and hope to make it 20-30 more.

I agree with above posters... not including Mayo = epic fail.

lol. Everyone keeps saying fail on not having Mayo. I've agreed multiple times and asked site administrators (mods/donors/Zeus/etc.) to do something to add it.

This just in...

Mayo decided to opt out of the SDN Power Rankings. We can forget about them now.

Good luck to the participating schools!

I'm waiting until I find out where I'm going next year so I can vote for that school.

Holy $hit, you have 108k posts. There are some 20k+ over here around pre-med. I didn't know such a creature existed. Truly epic.

And you've been a member since 1983, before Al Gore invented the WWW. I am truly impressed.

I thought about commenting on the 108K posts...but Geneticist called me out for post-padding myself so I let it be. I didn't notice the member since 1983...that's some serious business.

Lmao I like seeing your thought pattern from "wtf" to "ah she got hacks"

And MCAT guy, we know you can't change it yourself, we're just seconding the motion that mayo be added by an admin (or maybe a senior mod?) Not repeatedly blaming you.

I actually thought the same thing earlier today when I realized you had nearly 400 posts in a month, I looked at your profile and I was like "wow, almost 12 posts a day average..." haha...

I know dawg...it's a little embarrassing but I can't stop now! I think it would be way worse if all of my posts were srs, or all were lolcatz but I'm maintaining a pretty solid ratio IMO.

As you know I came out of the gates hard on the whole "doctoring and the love of money" debate with that cheech who thought he could push a button and become an investment banker.

Then I realized that this place is good for idiotic, heated arguments AND hilarious pictures.

I had never seen a meme before SDN. I didn't know what RickRolling was. I've learned a lot so no wonder I'm addicted.
