Hey folks, just wanted to give you my views on Emory's ObGYN residency program. I graduated from emory med.

The currently Pgy-2s are GREAT. they are probably the nicest of the bunch. the pgy-1s this year are pretty weak and not nice people overall. the reason i know this is from med students at emory who i know and trust -- they're taking the rotation now. several of the interns make the med students call them "dr. so and so." come on, that's just silly.

also, overall, the program residents (except the pgy-2s) are just rude and mean. they treat the med students with such hatred. they make them go and get food all the time, and make the students feel miserable overall.

i think the best way to judge a program is to see how the residents treat not only each other but those lower than them (and med students are included in this).

this, plain and simple, is the reason why they did not fill last year.

A few things.

1. The program had 1 unfilled spot in last year's match due the rumors that Grady was closing which could not be further from the truth

2. I ranked the program #1 because I desired to be at Grady and I care about its patients.

3. Me and my fellow interns are not weak. We are very bright and very diversified. Intern year is tough especially in the first few months. We are still orienting to the hospital and the enormous entity which is Grady L&D so there is a world of difference of the experience of medical students rotating early in year compared to those who rotate in late June. I don't make students call me Dr. so so and I have NEVER asked medical students to get me food. My advice to current Emory medical students rotating through OBGYN is to be more proactive and get involved. Passive learning is emphasized in the first two years not clinical rotations. Learn from your patients, that is the bottom line.

4. I encourage anyone interested in the program to rotate through L&D at Grady to experience the program for themselves.

Dear MS4SoonToBeMD,
Last year when you posted this stuff, I felt bad for you and thought that maybe I missed something about the program. But now, I must say that if you flunked the rotation, it's time to get over it  I hope you are doing better as anesthesiologist 😴
