They have teacher evals but by that time its too late.
I hope to get a B, which would be an A since the 5.0 course.
I was considering entering a clinical science program, but decided to go to a university that seemed to have a better "repoire" with the med schools here. That is how I found out about the program in Microbiology.I was scanning the web for some info on my dad's illness and was just snatched up by all of this microbiology.I also thought that the classes I would be studying for Clinical Science are closely related to the Micro classes. Some of them actually overlap-like immunology, histology, clinical microscopy.Originally posted by manna
Yep, if I get into the program (which I don't think I'll have any problem doing, but I don't want to be so over-confident as to seem arrogant).
Seems like an interesting job, will give me some exposure to a healthcare field, and in the long run I figured it will only add about 1 year longer to my undergrad coursework to get a BS in that as opposed to bio or something similar. 🙂
Good for you. It's amazing what you learn about yourself, isn't it?Originally posted by manna
Biodude - I'm a LOONG way from thinking of applying, but I've mulled over the idea of DO schools. They're just SO expensive (relative to my state school). I actually contacted my state osteo association and got the numbers of some DOs to sit down and speak with... but haven't done it yet. My brother would probably flip (he's an MD who doesn't have that high of an opinion of DOs).
My observation yesterday went wonderfully. I spent about 7 hours in the rad dept, most of which I realized that I'd rather be aiming towards the goal of being the radiologist, not just the tech. "Baby steps," I have to keep reminding myself. 🙁
Anyway, I got to go into the procedures room with two RTs, a nurse and the rad and observed an angiogram and angioplasty. That was the most fascinating part of the day, the rest was pretty mundane relatively speaking (saw lots of chest x-rays, a BCUG, a barium swallow, etc)

We're using Kotz & Treichel's Chemistry and Chemical Reactivity 5th ed currrently. It's ok, but oftentimes it seems they don't do a very good job connecting concepts, and while on the one hand I like tons of example problems this particular book seems to overdo it at times which interrupts my reading through the chapter. There also seem to be a lot of extraneous pictures that really aren't necessary which would give more space for writing notes in the margins....
We're reviewing a total of 3 books for next year, but each student only reviews 2. I'm reviewing Silberberg's Chemistry The Molecular Nature of Matter and Change 3rd ed, and Hill & Petrucci's General Chemistry An Integrated Approach 3rd ed. The 3rd book is authored by Chang....so far I like Silberberg's the best. They connect the concepts very well, go into more detailed discussions about the why behind how to do things rather than just the how to do it, and there's tons of room for notes. There's still example problems in the text, but not an overbearing amount, and the pictures they include are helpful rather than tons of the same thing over and over...

Greetings and Salutations from another Under M1-er...
I'm really worried about all the math and chemistry courses I'll have to take pretty soon (it's been nearly eight years since I've done ANY of that), so I will most definitely be turning to you guys for LOTS of advice and support.
